About this mod
OUTDATED. Special items like recipes/schematics/books/weapons/armor/horse gear will no longer repeatedly spawn inside containers as the result of blind luck/randomness. You will instead only find them in the specific places (containers/shops/quest rewards) where they were originally meant to be..

Should no longer find witcher secrets hidden in every other peasant hut nor triplicate copies of legendary swords so easily. Doesn't completely remove any recipe/weapon/armor/horse gear from the game, everything is still obtainable. Only changes where you will find those items.
What it changes: in the vanilla game whether a given container/chest has a specific legendary unique sword or a mere fire poker or some junk is usually down to your level and/or chance since the item that shows up is picked at random from a generic list. Those repeatedly-used random-outcome lists can lead to the player obtaining multiple copies of the same legendary and supposedly-unique sword, and often in the most inane places.
How it changes: This mod removes the entries for rare/special items from those random result loot lists so that you only find special items like legendary swords, recipes etc in a container if the container was already getting its items from one of the nonrandom/unique lists (meaning the item was likely handplaced in that container by the developers) instead of one of the random-outcome lists. To prevent issues with empty containers those loot entries were replaced with a couple of coins(set with a low priority compared to the remaining entries in those loot lists).
Over 99% of the special items in the randomly distributed loot lists could otherwise already be found as handplaced loot in containers, shop items, craftable items, quest rewards etc.
The very few items that existed only in the randomized loot lists required some arbitrary relocation/changes, as follows:

Recipe Dye Green

Recipe Dye Orange
Recipe Dye Pink

^Relic/artifact-versions of common armor, added to Yoana, Crow's Perch, Velen. For those interested in smoother item progression the optional mod "Yoana Shop Delayed" can make it so she only starts offering shop services at a later stage in the game(related quest).

^Part of a non-random unique 2-item loot list where it might never show up since the list's draw minimum was set to 1(bug?), increased it to 2.
One random invisible item tagged as NoShow,NoDrop("Armor maintenancet") in the loot list "_unique_books_other" was removed as it had a higher priority and was overriding the placeholder coins, potentially leading to some containers being empty when they shouldn't.
Install instructions:
Manual : Same as any other mod. You need to make sure that any \modxxx folders are placed directly inside your <TW3 game install>\Mods folder (or <TW3 game install>\mods, wherever your other mods are) and that the \dlcxxx folders are directly inside your <TW3 game install>\dlc folder (or <TW3 game install>\DLC, wherever your other dlcs are) or simply let TW3 Mod Manager place it all automatically for you ( recommended, it places the mod, dlc and mod menu files and folders in the right places, as well as add any additional mod input changes to your input file and also prompts you to run script merger after each mod install).
Vortex: just click the vortex button to download then install/deploy/enable through vortex (VORTEX IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR TW3 MODS IT CAN CREATE A LOT OF ISSUES).
Run Script Merger + Script Merger Unofficial Patch to merge any conflicting files. Once more, that means MERGE BOTH .WS & .XML FILES.
Uninstall:
Unmerge the mod files if you merged them before. Delete its folders (or let TW3MM do it for you automatically - recommended).
Changed files:
\gameplay\items\def_loot_containers.xml
\gameplay\items\def_loot_shops.xml
\gameplay\items_plus\def_loot_containers.xml
\gameplay\items_plus\def_loot_shops.xml

Optional mod: Yoana Shop Delayed meant for use alongside the main mod makes it so Yoana only starts offering her shop services at a later stage in the game(when she starts offering crafting services) to preserve item progression since she now stocks relic armor. As her shop menu screen was also an early spoiler for her related quest by revealing her title it's another plus.
changes the following file(credit goes to woodbyte):
\gameplay\community\dialogues\nml\shops\shop_barons_keep_master_blacksmith.w2scene
OUTDATED :Main mod + Yoana Shop Delayed + No Junk Food: it was a merge of the 2 mods from this page together with No Junk Food as it was hard to merge some of these files with script merger as Script Merger seemed misconfigured for Blood&Wine xml files . Fixed by the Script Merger Unofficial Patch so that version is no longer needed.
It additionally changes the following files:
