About this mod
The Gem Sea comes alive with this mod that creates an endless horizon of islands generated randomly every day.
- Requirements
- Permissions and credits
- Changelogs
This mod adds procedurally-generated islands to the Gem Sea with random flora, fauna, minerals, artifact spots, and even the odd treasure chest.
To access the islands you will need some way to traverse the water. The one that comes to mind is the the Swim mod but there might be others. Travel south of the beach or forest to enter into the island areas.
Features
Each island screen has a random number of islands with a random assortment of features, taken from the following list:
- Coconut trees
- Multicoloured grass
- Minerals (similar in distribution to the quarry)
- Monsters (crabs - 50%, skeletons - 20%, golems - 20%, or dinosaurs - 10%)
- Coconuts
- Sea fauna (clams, etc.)
- Artifact dig spots
- Treasure chests (using the same loot table as Skull Cave chests)
Notes
Number of islands per map, feature chance per island, and feature amounts can all be customized in the config.json file created when first running with this mod.
The mod keeps track of where you are relative to the beach and continues to create new maps of islands wherever you go as long as you stay south of the beach.
Once you travel north far enough to be parallel to the beach, it brings you back to the beach no matter how far west or east you were.
It remembers areas you have been to for that day, so if you travel to an area you've already visited, it will have the same islands as before.
Each new day, all islands are generated anew.
