About this mod

Adds spirits, cocktails, and vinegar production to the game in a balanced and lore-friendly way, without any extra clutter.

+++ I have mostly abandoned this mod, as Stardew 1.6 added a creation method for Vinegar which is putting Rice into a Keg. As this invalidates both Rice Wine and my various Vinegar recipes, this mod doesn't have much reason to exist. I have split the Whiskey into a separate mod, and made a bit more balanced endgame drinks in my new tea mod. If anyone wants to use the cocktails in Simple Spirits, you can probably still use them once JSON Assets is updated. I will leave this mod here for that reason. +++

Balanced Green Tea

Simple Whiskey

This mod enables you to:

- Create Spirits from fermented beverages (Wine, Beer, Mead) by putting them back into a Keg. There are not 100 different types of Spirits added, only one item, called "Spirits", in the nature of Stardew's simplicity. Wine increases in sell price by only 10%, so it is not better than a Cask. Beer triples in sell price, while Mead is increased by 50%.

- Create Peated Malt from Wheat+Coal at a Charcoal Kiln. This initially low-value product takes a long time to turn into Spirits, but ends up creating the best Spirits of all. If you want to get a profit from Spirits rather than just make Cocktails with them, this would be the way.

- Create Wine out of Rice, Maple Syrup, and Sugar. It follows the same rules as vanilla Wine.

- Create Vinegar from Wine, Beer, or Mead at a Preserves Jar.

- And finally, create 8 endgame cocktail drinks that give various buffs, but also have some downsides, and are balanced by the effort to get them vs. just drinking a cup of coffee. They restore very little HP and sell for very little, while taking a long time to create. However, their buff lasts all day. Here are their stats:

Spoiler:
Show
Luck-Focused:
Margarita - Spirits + Orange - +2 Luck, +3 Farming, -1 Speed
Gotaro Goat (named after Moscow Mule) - Spirits + Ginger Ale - +2 Luck, +4 Fishing
Old Fashioned - Spirits + Sugar - +2 Luck, +6 Mining, -1 Speed
Zuzu City Iced Tea - 3xSpirits + Joja Cola - +3 Luck, +64 Magnetic Radius, -2 Speed

Speed-Focused:
Spirits and Cola - Spirits + Joja Cola - +1 Speed, +1 Luck, -300 Max Energy
Strawberry Daquiri - Spirits + Strawberry + Sugar - +1 Speed, +2 Foraging, +50 Max Energy
Ginger Tincture (named after Bahama Mama) - Spirits + Triple Shot Espresso + Coconut + Pineapple - +1 Speed, +20 Attack, +5 Defense
Espresso Martini - Spirits + 3xTriple Shot Espresso + Sugar - +2 Speed, +100 Max Energy, -25 Defense

All cocktail recipes can be purchased from Gus starting in year 2. 2 are available per season, 1 for 50,000g, and 1 for 100,000g.

In the same way that in the vanilla game, there are hundreds of real-world crops missing and unavailable to streamline the experience, so will this mod be leaving out many classic cocktails and prevent bloating itself. I will be refining the buff balance and sell prices a bit, but won't be adding more bloat to the file.

To have the Spirits/Wine/Vinegar functionality without including the Cocktails in your game, simply delete the Cocktails folders in the "SSCV JA" folder.

Also check out my mod Price Buffs which goes nicely with the balance of this mod.
