I've updated the 'No New Targets' version (now 1.1) to include Mur4s4me's bounds fix. So now NPCs won't miss the targets anymore. Safe to update mid game. If you use the 'Diverse Archery Targets - BOS - More targets' version, you already have this fix. Enjoy!
Update 8th November '23
Update 1.2 adds wooden targets! They can be found at bandit camps around Skyrim. The extra targets plugin is now ESL flagged so it will no longer take up a space in your load order. Finally, a huge thank you to Mur4s4me , who worked out why NPCs were firing at the base of targets and showed me how to fix the problem. No more bad aims for NPCs in this update!
Update 16th August '23
I've added the FormList Manipulator - FLM version of HamsterSensei12's Dynamic Things Alternative patch to the Optional Files section. Thanks again, HamsterSensei12!
New targets in 1.1.
More targets were added to Fort GreenWall, Fort Sungard, The Eastmarch Imperial Camp, and the Falkreath Imperial Camp. More soon! If this is the first time you're installing the mod, make sure you check out the install instructions/requirements below. Thanks for downloading, and enjoy!
15th August '23. HamsterSensei12 has made a patch that adds Dynamic Things Alternative - Base Object Swapper functionality to the new targets. You can now earn XP in the way you would in vanilla. A big thank you to HamsterSensei12 for their work! Please give them some kudos!
Version 1.0 Notes:
Hi everyone!
It's important that you have the required files installed for this mod to work correctly. Here's the order of installation:
Base Object Swapper. Make sure you have the latest version. Endorse the mod if you haven't already.
Jankevdv's 2K Archery Targets. Install first. Endorse the mod if you haven't already. Archery Target Retexture 2k and 4k added. Install second (either 2k or 4k) and overwrite when asked. I use 4k with the mesh file. Endorse the mod. Install my mod third. Either the basic BOS version or the version that adds targets. You don't need both. For my dark ropes, I use better ropes for skyrim SE. You don't need to install this last one, but I do recommend it.
If you skip any of the steps, you'll likely get some odd-looking targets!
I'm having an issue with JK's Riverwood (standalone) that I'm assuming is a BoS issue but it's really the only BoS issue that I have so I figured I'd ask here just in case you or others have insight. I'm using the more targets version with the DTA patch (I've tried alone, with FLM, and just FLM) and have all of the requirements installed in order as recommended. Most of the time, the targets are invisible but they have collisions. I can go up to where they are and I get SkyClimb's procedural markers where they should be. When they do show up, they don't function as DTA targets. Does that sound like any issue in particular you're aware of? po3_BaseObjectSwapper.log doesn't have any errors or conflicts related to it and meshes/textures don't either.
Hi there! That is odd. Although the targets are appearing invisible, are you able to click on them (maybe where the collision is) to get their IDs from More Information Console? Also, are you able to see which mod last changed them? I don't use JK's Riverwood (I've been working on my own overhaul) but I'll help where I can.
Thanks so much for the help. Unfortunately, not when they're invisible. When they're visible, it's as you would expect as far as I can remember. Base last changed by this mod, ref last by JK's Riverwood. I can check to be certain when I'm at my PC, will update when I can. Much appreciated.
One more thing to check, please. Make sure your Base Object Swapper (and it's requirements) are all up to date and see if that makes any difference. Hopefully we can get this sorted out for you.
Hey, still haven't been at my PC, but everything is definitely up to date since I'm addicted to Nexus lmao. And just to put it all out there, the issue existed on 1.6.640 (prior to 1.6.1130/70 release) and the BoBW (1.6.640->1.5.97 + BEES) I'm currently running, on every version of BOS since install. I'm going to try to update in the near future since my runtime will be the same now, but I'm assuming the curse will persist. I'd imagine it's a weird conflict rather than a base issue with any of these mods so when I grab the IDs I'll do a barebones test to not waste your time.
EDIT: I just realized it might be some weird DynDOLOD and/or Seasons issue. Been having major headaches with formswaps that should not be occuring and it simply ignoring parts of my blacklist despite logs saying it's reading them fine. I thought I'd ruled it out, but I'll check again. It's happening during Summer on brand new saves but weirder things have happened lol.
Can someone do some tests and check if Aela, during her archery session at the back of Jorrvaskr, is shooting arrows at the bottom of the target instead of the target itself? It happened to me once when the targets were swapped. It could be a Skyrim engine issue with BOS and how they detect the objects with NPC packages after being swapped. Removing the swap in Whiterun in the ini fixed it.
I'll have to do more tests because it only occured once so far. If anyone else can give it a try and see what their result is, I'd appreciate it.
beautiful work, how did i not find this gem of a mod. There is a video on this mod, thats how i found out about this mod. I'll link the video below, thanks for this it is essential and makes skyrim archery targets less boring.

Ups, meant no more targets.
Which version needs an update? Let me know and I'll take a look.
Just installed it and it have problem with collision as described below.
Thanks either way, it's an awesome mod.

EDIT: Noticed this happening in Solitude too.
EDIT 2: I think I figured it out: it may have to do with Object Bounds. All the archery targets in your mod has object bounds to 0. I used the vanilla archery target to copy over the object bounds data, and it seems to have fixed it in my game. Further testing may be needed.
