About this mod

An expansion of the available meats and cooked meals, designed to fill in the gaps left in the original game.

Vanilla Skyrim has a large number of animals which normally cannot be harvested for meat, and many some meats cannot even be used for cooking.
Well, not anymore! Now you can collect meat from a large number of animals you originally couldn't, and every new meat has an appropriate recipe for cooking.

In addition to new meats and recipes for them, this also expands on the existing cooking recipes.

Basically, I duplicated several vanilla records, tweaked them a little, added a custom mesh or texture here or there, and injected the meats into the drop pool for the animals they come from.

The core file mostly just expands on the foods by adding recipes for the new meats. but has built in compatibility with SunHelm Survival and Needs (not required, just works fine with it).

Additionally, new in the 2.0 version, I've added some new meat:
  • Blackbird Meat
  • Meat: Small
  • Meat: Medium
  • Meat: Large
As well as DeathItem loot lists and cooking recipes. This will provide some additional generic meats which will allow for much easier patching/expansion with mods which add additional animals.

The Survival Mode addon increases the recipes even further with the addition of new "Hot Spiced" varieties of some meats and dumplings. These function similar to the hot soups, but at reduced strength. They are also crafted using Frost Mirriam and Elves ears instead of Fire Salts. It seemed weird to me that so many homes have these herbs hanging up but we really can't make much use of them. I decided that, as Skyrim is a cold area in general, and these herbs are everywhere, it wasn't much of a stretch of the imagination to think that they perhaps have some sort of warming properties when cooked into foods. And thus, "Hot Spiced" items were born.

Optional patches have been provided for a number of mods listed under the requirements.

A note on the Gourmet Patches:

Gourmet and my mod had quite a bit of food and crafting crossover. Where this happened, I've allowed the foods from Gourmet to win conflicts by basically disabling all my conflicting additions and labeling them with (DISABLED). This patch was quite a bit of work, but those items shouldn't have the opportunity to exist in the actual game.

Gourmet also removes meat based dumplings, changes any meat soup to a stew, etc.
For consistency, all of those changes are carried forward in my patch. This means no more meat dumplings.
However, I did keep in the hot spiced meats.

My recipes also wont actually appear unless you have the appropriate meat item in your inventory, and the appropriate crafting recipe learned, so no fear of a heavily flooded screen with my stuff.

All the added "Hot" foods also have modified meshes to mimic the steaming effect of the hot soups from Survival Mode. It's quite subtle on some items, but it is there.

Also optional SMIM meshes are provided separately, taken from my other mod here.

Each animal listed below has new meat/recipes. For more detail on each addition, expand the appropriate spoiler tag and see what was added.
