Thank you for your mods, they are amazing!
I want to ask you, is it compatible with the new Cuse of the Dragonborn - Redux?
    Thanks in advance!

Use the hybrid patch I offer if you are playing a hybrid though...

Could this conflict with the werebear mod?

bottom of compatibility section of description page :)

Also keep in mind this mod is for werewolves - not werebears however - no conflict but my mod affects werewolves etc. So if your not a werewolf you just wont turn.

Bottom of Description page under compatibility - also ...

Remember to look at xEdit for just a second or check out the description page! If you did you would see this mod doesnt alter any vanilla assets not the vampire lord not werewolf - no interaction will ever happen. I just look for the vanilla vampire lord power and if you have it then save you from dying once a day via just forcing the player to use the vanilla change form power instead of dying. That said its fundamentally impossible for this mod to conflict with any mod except for mods also trying to fire a spell or script right when or before you die - in those situations my mod may never get a chance to work thats all. It wont hurt anything

Getting my health below the needed threshold regains my health back but doesn't trigger any transformation both werewolf and vampire lord forms. Triggering the powers manually works. I have both growl and shadow of skyrim and followed the fomod for compatibilities. Is something wrong on my end?

if you use Shadow of Skyrim there is a built in delay so you have to be at the threashold for longer that is unfortunately the only way around it. This does of course mean its possible you get knocked down and handled by Shadow of Skyrim before you get handled by me. When I talked with the Shadow of Skyrim mod author he stated the delay is likley the best way to integrate with his system and said it would cause no harm but it could be difficult for my mod to fire.

What I can say is that you CAN try the version of my mod NOT for Shadow of Skyrim. The only difference is a built in delay it would hurt nothing to not have that delay - In fact it could be better. Its hard to say because I have wanted a Shadow of Skyrims player feedback on the delay since this mod launched. Its possible the delay could be shorter or non-existant and a version for Shadow of skryim is not needed and that would lead to a better play experience im not sure. So I would say you currently can either keep using the version you are using and remember that once your health is low at the threshold you need to survive for about 3 or so seconds maybe 2? before you will transform. OTHERWISE try the version with no delay aka the normal versions for not Shadow of Skyrim and see how you like it.

It worked! Thanks! So it was all just a delay. I actually prefer without the delay in my opinion as it feels more dramatic. That being said it is better to have both options for people's preference.

so i got this bug where my character cant speak to npc's while in werewolf form. like im not given the option to open up dialogue with followers. now i really doubt its this mod but i thought i'd ask here since my werewolf playthroughs were fine until i downloaded this so its more of a process of elimination. i use a bunch werewolf mods and they all play nice with each other so idk if this was one werewolf edit too many or something. i use growl as my main werewolf mod if that helps.
    thanks for any reply.

So unfortunately this mod is vanilla. What that means is that if you were to play Skyrim with *No* mods installed, and were to transform into a vanilla werewolf when near death while having the vanilla "Avoid Death perk" then that would exactly be what this mod is doing. You could pull off this mod in the vanilla game but it would have to be a manual process via you triggering transformation at the same time as the vanilla avoid death perk activates so manual and a little luck.

So all in all this mod does not touch anything to do with werewolves. It does not alter the race, it does not alter any vanilla record. All this mod does is force the player to cast the vanilla "Beast Form" spell which changes you into a werewolf. This is what you would do just playing the game normally but I do it for you under certain conditions and heal you while it happens (healing is the same as the avoid death perk just with a longer duration to last during transformation).

ok thanks for the answer. im pretty sure the cause for my problem is just having too many mods. either or i'm likely gonna keep your mod as it has a lot of potential.

It works but kinda inconsistent. I've reloaded the same save several time and get myself killed on purpose but some of the time, I just die.

description page. You will be saved if you are blocking and dogging and are dropped to 15% health or less. If you die to quickly, if you are power hit and instantly killed then you will not be saved. Notice how in my video with wolves i stood there to get low health but at low health I dodged, blocked and ran. This got me to the threshold. Again as the description page states if you play the game and don't just stand there to die you likely will hit the criteria to be saved. You have to be at 15 or less percent health then it will trigger. Not 0% not 20% you have to be at 1% to 15%.

Any way to adjust this? If I go from 100% and get hit once to 0% I would still like to transform.

      So basically: deathblow = transformation

Here is a technical reason why I didn't implement that:
      Spoiler:
      Show
You can add a script line to put the player in a bleed out state and make them immortal temporarily and for sure some mods do this for quests, or functions etc. However my concern with this method is that it can lead to game breaking bugs that bake into a save and you might not be aware of it. For example it could lock you as immortal and you would continue playing until you realize later that you never are taking damage, another thing that can happen is it can lock you in a bleed-out state and in this situation you would have to fully quit the game and reload it because you are just stuck. These effects are also very prone to crossing saves so if you are put into this state and for whatever reason load a different save it can bleed into that save which is a existing Bethesda cross save bug but can make things worse if it bakes some part of these states into a save were your just in a inn for example. Which could down the line for whatever reason lock your ability to move or something making the save unplayable.

Now all this said does sound doom and gloom and extreme but to be fair these situations *can happen but would happen more rarely and it would be dependent most likely on your script load at the time. I can say with confidence however that I believe these situations would happen at least once or more in a full play-through (400+ hours) but there are mods on Nexus that do this already and people do enjoy them to your point. My development stance is on high professional polish. I develop programs for a client in my actual job and try to bring a extremely high degree of professionalism to all my work. That said my design decision of not using scripts like this is because breaking saves even rarely or forcing the player to quit the game for any reason at any point is unacceptable. I hold my work to a higher standard.

Make sure to read why I didn't implement it and be sure you understand the defects and issues that can occur if you do implement it. That said if you remind me any time in 2024 - I can look into making this for you as a optional file if you want. Just PM me or discord me etc. I will say however that playing the game normally users that tested my mod found that it always worked in boss fights and only when going up against a giant at level one that can 1 hit you did it not work for them but even if they turned they would die in 1 hit as a werewolf anyway.

I'm using Tainted Blood Of The Dragonborn (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/9312/) what would happen if I'm a vampire and a werewolf? Would the mod work and randomly choose between the two?
    Thanks

The death save seems to trigger multiple times, not just once a day... Is it because I'm both a werewolf and wearing Hircine's ring?

Only the cursed ring can trigger it - but yes... there could be a situation were the cursed ring could save you 1 time and your werewolf form naturally could save you 1 time so it could turn into twice a day - im not sure but that might be possible. But it would only be the cursed ring not the fixed ring following completing the quest.

you never downloaded my mod. I can see your download history as a mod author. So my mod cant be to blame since you never used it. Also I personally have used this mod for some years now and never had that happen.

Hard accusations. Did you know that if someone mass downloads from the same author, not all of them (in some/many cases only one) is registered as a download. Whether this is a bug or oversight is not known but this was reported as early as 2013.

I have never seen in all my years modding as a mod author from 2016 on - a situation were you download a mod and it not register on my side. Its how the site works it tracks what you download. I use it fundamentally to ensure people are using the latest version etc. to diagnose issues. Its also how endorsements work.

Did you know - you cant endorse a mod unless the site registers that you downloaded it? Which is how I determine who has downloaded my mods and who hasn't. Its a core foundation to the website. I'm not saying that it isn't possible that it would not register the download but I am saying that would be a exception not a rule and be a very rare exception. I also addressed the comment directly and said I havent experienced the described behavior over the years this mod has been out - This is a re-release of my original mod. But in any case I dont think they have my mod installed since their download history shows me they never installed it.

At first I was a bit confused. I was looking for Curse of the Werewolf, since I already had it installed and forgot what it did (I was going to check the mod page), but I was just getting Page not Found. I ended up finding a Portuguese translation of the mod that linked to your Author page, which let me find this updated version.

Is there a reason the previous mod was taken down instead of just editing the page and linking it to this one?

Love this idea, definitely gonna try it out in my next Companions-themed character.

Would you be opposed to me porting this mod to Beth.net for the Xbox modding community to enjoy as well?

im not opposed but let me finalize the mod and let dust settle so give it a week. I just expanded the mod to include vampire lords and im not sure how to change the mod page etc over it or the FOMOD...
