About this mod

This patch allows the use of WiZkiD Signs with Skyrim 3D Signs by reverting model paths to vanilla in the 3D Signs references for the signs modded by WiZkiD Signs.

WiZkiD Signs is a wonderful mod, which upgrades the appearance of many of the individual signs in Skyrim while staying true to lore and immersion.

Skyrim 3D Signs is also a great mod, which gives a similarly lore-friendly visual upgrade to even more signs.

The two mods cover many of the same signs. Between the two, I slightly prefer WiZkiD Signs, but it would be great to be able to use 3D Signs for the signs not covered by WiZkiD Signs. These include individualised merchant and alchemy shop signs among others.

Unfortunately, the two mods take different approaches to modding the signs. WiZkiD Signs is a mesh and texture replacer with no ESP. 3D Signs uses an ESP, at least in part because this is necessary to replace existing generic signs with unique ones. So out of the box, 3D Signs will overwrite WiZkiD Signs.

This patchling allows WiZkiD Signs to win conflicts by reverting the model path in the references touched by 3D Signs to vanilla for the signs modded by WiZkiD Signs.

The files also include two optional patchlings.
1) The first deletes the Birna's Oddment sign added by 3D Signs for those who use wizkid34's sign, e.g. users of wizkid34's Lanterns of Skyrim II, which adds it's own sign in the same style as WiZkiD Signs.
2) The second preserves the use of 3D Signs' model for Radiant Raiments as the sign for the shop Austina's Amenities in ClefJ's Winterhold. The vanilla Radiant Raiments sign has a generic needle and thread design. WiZkiD Signs adds the name to the sign, which has the unfortunate effect of making Austina's a franchise. The 3D Signs version, which we don't need for Radiant Raiments itself when using WiZkiD Signs, is relatively generic, so it works better here.

All files are flagged ESL. Install all patches after 3D Signs, and the ClefJ's patch after ClefJ's Winterhold.

It is worth noting that some city overhauls will affect these mods. For example, Janquel's amazing patches for the Cities of the North series has patches for 3D signs. Using those patches will overwrite the reversion to vanilla model paths this patch provides. Some additional SSEdit-tweaking is likely to be required there.

Also worth mentioning: for blacksmith signs, I recommend the retexture of SkyFix Se - HD Blacksmith Signs.

Finally: What if you want to use these two mods, but prefer 3D signs and want that mod to win conflicts? No patch necessary in that case, but you won't see more than a few of WiZkiD Signs (a few retextures of generic signs and signs for some other mods, including e.g. Books of Skyrim and some stuff in Arthmoor's villages, if you use them).
