About this mod

Now with bandits and warlocks ... This mod adds physics enabled wigs to female guards, soldiers, bandits, witches, warlocks, Forsworn, Thalmor and Vigilants of Stendarr. Also adds static wigs to male guards and soldiers. I have created custom faces for many of the women and slightly modified faces for many of the men who are guards or soldiers.

Beta Warning

Please consider this to be beta software.  I have tested it but have not tested it extensively.  Testing all the bandits will take a long time because I would need to level up and I tend to do that slowly.  If you aren't OK with some bugs, I suggest you shop elsewhere.

Having said that, I plan to continue to develop this mod.  If you find a problem, please post or a bug report.  But, I have limited free time so I may not be quick.

There's a FAQ at the bottom.

Introduction

After writing Wodo's Automatic KS Physics Wigs for Guards, some have asked me about soldiers, bandits, etc.  However, that has a script that periodically scans NPC's and if it finds a guard that doesn't already have a recognized physics wig, it will equip that guard with a physics wig.  It is a slow process that makes sense in stable environments such as towns and cities but likely is going to be frustratingly slow at a bandit camp.

Installation / Uninstallation / New Game

I suggest using a mod manager such as Vortex to install.

I think it is safe to uninstall this mod but I don't recommend uninstalling the Physics mod, Racemenu or either of the Wig Mods during play.  NPC's that had wigs assigned will likely keep their wigs after uninstallation as they are saved in the save files.

I testing using a new game but I doubt anything will break if you install mid-way.  However, wigs are part of the outfit and any NPC's that have been created and saved are in save files.  New NPC's generated after the mod becomes active should have wigs.

Conflicts

This mod will conflict, at least some, with mods that modify the guards, etc.  The key issues are the face and the wig (which is a helmet).

Face - I expect that the face will be set by the last mod that sets the guard face.  For instance, if Fresh Women loads after this mod, I expect you'll get Fresh Women faces.  If this mod load later then I expect you'll get faces from this mod.

Wigs - it is likely that you'll get the wigs even if you are also using Fresh Women.  However, if you have a mod that replaces helmets on the guards and that mod loads later, that mod will "win."  The wigs are helmets.

Known conflicts

  • MisterB1969 - Unique Loot.  Touches actor records but doesn't include facegen files in mod which triggers the dark face bug.  This mod is marked hidden.

FAQ

Q. What does this mod include?
A. Converts some of the male Imperial Guards to females.  Some faces are modified/customized/washed.  Older NPC's made younger.  Farmers get tans.
The mod includes generic guards, soldiers, bandits, Forsworn, Thalmor, Vigilants of Stendarr, farmers and hunters.  I plan to add Forsworn, vampires and other generic NPC's.
This mod does not modify unique NPC's except for optional patches such as for Idolaf.

Q. Do I need a mod makes some of the guards female?

A. No.  This mod handles that.

Q. Why did the wig change color?
A. Racemenu determines wig color.  My guess is the Racemenu software gets "confused" when more than one wig is in the same cell.

Q. After I kill an enemy, I can loot the wig.  Then the dead NPC has a bald head.  Why?
A. I gave the NPC's bald heads so that wigs from other mods could work in future versions.  If you don't want to see bald heads, don't loot the wigs.

Q. OK, don't loot the wigs...  Why did you use wigs instead of just setting their hair?
A. Because physics hair doesn't work properly on NPC's.  It either stretches to the ground or the NPC gets a dark face.  We are stuck with wigs for NPC's.

Q. I've got the dark face bug.
A1. Try your best to report who has the dark face.  I know it is difficult to do that for a generic NPC but it's also going to be difficult for me to find it.  At least try to tell me the type (guard, soldier, bandit, etc.), the gender and the race.  If a guard, which hold (or at least which city or town).  If a soldier, which side (Imperial or Stormcloak).  If it's a bandit, it has a name such as "bandit marauder" as well as a race.  That information will help a great deal if there's a dark face bug.

A2. The correct directory for the face NIF's wasn't obvious so I used the directory path on my computer.  Hopefully that is correct for others.
data->actors->character->FaceGenData->FaceGeom->skyrim.esm

Q. Where did you get that armor?
A. I believe it started from Remodeled Armor CBBE SE.  But I used several "zappers" in Bodyslide to modify it.

Q. What body are you using for women?
A. CBBE 3BA (3BBB).

Q. And the skin and makeup?
A. Fair Skin Complection for CBBE.

Q. How about wigs for bandits?
A. I will add wigs for bandits, mages, Vigilants and Forsworn.  After that, suggestions?

Q. Why don't you use physics wigs for men?
A. I couldn't find any I liked.  I tried Dint they really look like they belong on women and some of them wouldn't work for other reasons.  If anyone knows of a good masculine collection of physics wigs for men, please let me know.

Q. Speaking Dint, would you include some of those wigs?
A. Perhaps, if there's enough interest.

Q. How about Yundao?
A. I asked Vyxenne about it and she suggested that I would run into problems with wig color.
