Absolutely gorgeous and underrated. My favorite tree overhaul to date! Thank you for making my game so much more beautiful.

No dyndolod here. Game drops to 20fps around Falkreath.

Something is wrong... I sadly have to disable this lovely mod, even though it's the best trees mod out there in my opinion, my PC doesn't agree.

This mod has quite a few high-poly trees.

High poly often doesn't equal to high quality in environment meshes, rather it's just great UV unwrapping and amazing shaders.
Even though it's the best tree mod out there in my opinion, it's really a shame that such a beautiful mod suffers optimization issues... :(

True but one reason why some of the trees look so good is because they have lots of triangles with more independent leaves/branches and normal faces. This game engine requires more optimization though.

All of this and not running dyndolod is going to provide more stutters. Dyndolod is not a visuals/performance compromise unless you change the settings to be that way...

Run dyndolod on low or medium so it can get your tree billboards and it will minimize stutters

why doesnt the description tell us exactly whats different between the main file and the bos version

Because there is no difference. Use the BOS version instead of the main version, if you want to replace vanilla trees with Veydogolt trees using Base Object Swapper. That's it.

Then you must say because either your BOS is failing or the original mod failed for you
  5. Hi,

Would someone be willing to port the latest version to Xbox? On Xbox the aspen trees have blocky trunks and branches. The same for snowpines.

    Kind regards,

    Hi,

    With a Ryzen 5 5600x, 32gb Ram, SSD, 3080, DynDOLOD Alpha 182 using LITE, it took 1 hr 32 mins with LOD4/Level0, LOD8/Billboard4, LOD16/Billboard1.

    LOD4/Billboard4 took 45 mins...

I didn't think LITE with LOD4/Level0 would take this long, should it be taking this long?

The performance and FPS was the same when I used Veydogolt and Veydogolt LITE.

    THANKS

The LITE version is one that doesn't have the same variety of trees and doesn't use as complicated trees in some areas, but the amount of trees is the same and DynDOLOD will take time.. It was released before the main file's newer version; meanwhile the main file has been optimized and should give a somewhat similar performance, although the LITE will always be better in some dense areas.

Hello. Did I do something wrong when installing this and running dyndolod?

Yes, you chose some wrong settings on dyndolod, I guess. Are you trying to create 3D lod, or 2D lod?

3D LODs if possible. I had done that with Happy Little Trees.

    Hi z929669,

If you remember yesterday my post over at HLT with the slight flicker/pop using HLT and Veydogolt  - Extra Trees; Tree Flicker

    Today I decided to try over Veydogolt, using for the first time with it Veydogolt - Extra Trees, and using DynDOLOD settings of;

    LOD4/Level0, LOD8/Billboard4, LOD16/Billboard(1)

I'm noticing the same effect, when getting closer to the trees, a slight flicker/pop, but with Veydogolt and Veydogolt - Extra Trees it's a little more subtle.

I know my setup is correct for Tree mods and DynDOLOD, and since I changed DynDOLOD to LOD4/Level0 using HLT, HLT doesn't do this anymore.

Is this an issue that needs to be adjusted with the LODs in the future to reduce this, or is there something I can still try to do to eliminate it now with Veydogolt?

    THANKS

That's the video with both HLT and Veydogolt ET installed, so test with only one or the other.

      Hi z929669,

Using only Veydogolt, LOD4/Level0, LOD8/Billboard4, LOD16/Billboard(1) has a slight flicker/pop when approachging the trees. LOD4/Level0 also makes the pine needles brighter color like the screen shot below. LOD4/Billboard4 the pine needles are darker/normal color, but there is also more flicker/pop.

There's also a lag when going from an interior world space, to the outdoors, the distant terrain/landscape isn't rendered sometimes for me for a few seconds, then pops in. I don't see this happening with Nature of the Wild Lands, or other tree mods, only Veydogolt.

Here's a video I have on Vimeo, showing this Enviroment Pop In when going from the interior to the outdoors using Veydogolt. Sorry I thought in the past I made a longer video, so if need be, watch it over, looking in different areas.

      THANKS

    Hi,

    I'm not understanding what is missing with this DynDOLOD File Not Found Textures message;

    Warning: File not found textures\. Used by meshes\dyndolod\lod\trees\landscape\treepineforestsnowl05_a40a2d68passthru_lod.nif Skyrim.esm TreePineForestSnowL05 [TREE:0005D2D7]

One of the meshes has a more or less empty texture path. It can be ignored.

      Hi z929669,

Ok, I hadn't seen this before, and I started using Assorted mesh fixes, also with the parallax version, and with the DynDOLOD in them, wasn't sure if this might be the issue.

I'm not sure if it's related, but I was running TexGen and DynDOLOD on 4K settings, and LOD4/Level0. Now I ran them at 2K and LOD4/Billboard4 and no more message.

Also TexGen and DynDOLOD on 4K, the Pine needles on the trees in the distance were really bright, the color was off, and when I ran TexGen/DynDOLOD over at 2K, the pine color was ok again... hmm

      THANKS

I'm not sure why this is so taxing on my system but I find it basically unusable. I run a 4090 and typically really double down of trees, e.g my normal loadout is fabled forests + winedave's tree addon + nature of the wildlands + great forest of whiterun hold etc, and even with dyndolod ultra, the file size is like 5gb and the frames are good. I then removed almost everything I use, tried this and my dyndolod size tripled to 15gb, and my frames are basically non existent. low 40s often down from 90+ with frame gen, something I've never seen with my rig unless the draw calls are ridiculous, and I also have purple meshes on one of the pine tree lods for some reason and I've reinstalled everything and re run dyndolod and still have the same issue.

My forests are considerably less dense because I've stripped back all of the other tree mods and yet the performance is worse. Tried CAO and reduced the textures and still have the same issue.

Many of the LOD models in this mod are not fully optimized, so they add a massive number of draw calls when using the LOD models in object LOD (using Level0|2|2 at any LOD4|8|16) in DynDOLOD mesh rules.

You can fix this by creating mesh rules to use Billboard1 or Billboard4 for the largest LOD models (look at the file sizes of the LODs in meshes/DynDOLOD/lod/trees/). You can also try the LITE version. We've improved some of the LOD complexity, but there's much work yet to be done, and time is very limited.

Don't run mods through CAO unless you know exactly what it is doing and are familiar with the requirements of each asset. It and any optimizer can break certain assets that require special treatment in the conversion process. CAO cannot reduce the triangles in the models AFAIK, and the FPS issue is models, not textures.

unfortunately for me it still comes out at 13gb (up from 2gb actually without this) with ultra trees, tree mesh 0/4/1 using lite version and still tanks my fps. thanks for the mod though, just can't handle the dyndolod hit currently!

      Use LOD4/Billboard4, LOD8/Billboard4, LOD16/Billboard1

I have a 3080 and I'm not getting a peformance hit on those settings using the Main version. LOD4/Level0 is what's giving the greater hit over Billboard 4, at least it is for me on every tree mod I've used.

That's because Billboard4 makes the LOD trees 8 triangles each and tree complexity has no impact at all.

      Hi z929669,

Am I getting this wrong then, that the performance between LOD4/Billboard4 or LOD4/Level0 should be the same?

      THANKS

I downloaded the BOS version of the main file, along with big trees and extra trees. I run TexGen and Dyndolod without any problem, but when i open the game the trees near to Whiterun are pop-uping. There's no tree next to the waterfall or in that ravine when i'm close to the city's wall, but when i walk at riverwood direction the trees start to pop-up. Did i do something wrong?

I've tested it. The trees do not popup. There's something wrong with your setup/load order.
If you are using Mod Organizer, make a test profile, unload all your mods and just load Veydogolt Trees + Extra trees. You'll see no trees will popup.

This typically happens if DynDOLOD creates trees on the LOD atlas that are no longer installed. Remove your current DynDOLOD output, and run it again for the current LO.

Post on the DynDOLOD Support forum with logs for assistance.
