Generate textures and run DynDOLOD:

  • Do not use any "2D Tree Billboards" Optional File from the Veydogolt Trees mod, use one of (or both) the "3D Hybrid LODs" files.
  • Do not overwrite with any other LOD option from any other mod, as these can conflict or override TexGen output, which is required as a resource for DynDOLOD to do its work.
  • Run TexGen 3 to generate tree and trunk billboards (see this guide step), install as a mod, and ENABLE this mod.
  • Run DynDOLOD 3 to generate trees in object LOD (see this guide step), install as a mod, and ENABLE this mod.
  • Sort with LOOT

Recommended DynDOLOD 'tree' mesh rules
  • Ultra: LOD4/Level0, LOD8/Level1, LOD16/Level2
  • Performance: LOD4/Billboard4, LOD8/Billboard4, LOD16/Billboard(1) (looks VERY good and may be optimal for many)

My understanding is that it is no longer required to download the 3D Hybrid Lod file if using dyndolod for the latest version of Veydogolt Trees and Veydogolt Trees - Extra trees.

Hey, so no need to install ANY 3d lod from any tree mod since dyndolod will automatically generates them right?

False, Dyndolod generates 2d billboards on its own but the user must supply 3d hybrid lod.

Should the LOD mods, after running TexGen and installing TexGen Output and before running DynDOLOD, be disabled?

assuming you installed dyndolod 3 and it's resources and set MO2 or whatever compatible mod manager of your choice to open texgen and dyndolod 3 correctly (Watch Gamer Poets video on youtube if unsure.)

In order for Dyndolod 3 (or any version IIRC) to work right, the texgen HAS to be active.

Run textgen, let it do its thing, save as zip, manually install at bottom of load order, activate it.

Run Dyndolod 3 next, let it do it's thing, save as a zip and exit. Install at bottom of load order, activate it.

that *should* be all you need to do, unless you're doing more advanced tweaking.

So do I need to run TexGen and DynDoLOD prior to activating this mod, or should I activate the Veydogolt Trees mods first and then run lod generation?

Activate the tree mod(s) before dyndolod/texgen otherwise it won't generate LOD's/billboards/texgen for the tree mod you just downloaded.

Dyndolod and texgen look at your load order and whats active and not active. It then filters for the records it needs to do the generation.

Tried running it but I had no tree lods at all when I loaded my world.

In texgen should I have HD tree checked or unchecked? (I been checking it)

    Edit: fixed in new update

It puts the LOD files in the output folder, wherever you specified that is, so you may have to take those files and put them in your mod manager or the Data folder.

Thank you for all the support and guides, to help make the most of your mods. I didn't even know there was a STEP modifications guide 2.0 for using Dyndolod 3. I only found version 1.0 of their article, and so is out of date.
