~~Banditkiin~~
Bandit Children of Skyrim

Recreated from scratch with the blessing of spligitmoose from the original Bandit Children mod of Legendary Edition.

Overview:

Banditkiin adds 50 new classes of Bandit Children to Skyrim. The children appear in hand-placed locations as well as in the leveled lists. They are killable, have unique combat styles and weapons, and are built with immersion in mind. There are some children that are completely non-hostile, some that are comparable to regular armored bandits, and some high-level Banditkiin classes that will make for unforgettable battles.

As the people demand, the children are killable. This was done by creating new races, meaning that this is a "Killable Children" mod that DOES NOT IN ANY WAY TOUCH THE VANILLA CHILD RACES. It is compatible with the Hearthfire DLC and Hearthfire Multiple Adoptions with absolutely no conflicts. The children are also killmove-enabled. The first time or two that you go into a cinematic cutscene, pick up a child, and brutally slam them headfirst into a castle floor will definitely make you rethink you life choices.

Different Versions:

There are a couple of different versions that you can pick from. The different versions are intended to cater to different preferences, but you are more than welcome to create your own versions as well. Basically everything that happens within the world is controlled by two actor lists within the CK. If you want to manually increase or decrease the frequency of certain bandit types, look at the "BK_LvlActor_BanditChild00_All_50" and "BK_LvlActor_BanditChild00_All" leveled character lists.

For the sake of simplicity, the children below are divided into two groups. "Armored Children" are children that wear the fur armor like in the original Bandit Children mod. This includes fighters, mages, and archers that are always at a low level. "Clothing Children" are children that wear outfits added by this mod and are leveled with the player. They include over 50 new classes and have specialized magic types and combat styles. At higher levels, Clothing Children make for unique and challenging opponents.

~Banditkiin - Bandit Children of Skyrim
Standard Version. Includes Armored Children and Clothing Children at a reasonable spawn rate. Children appear both at new spawn points and within the levelled lists. Most bandit camps will have 0-2 children.

~Banditkiin - Make Your Mother In Law Proud
Lots of children. Nearly every bandit camp will have 2-5 bandit children. Also includes Armored Children and Clothing Children. To be clear, you will be butchering a lot of children with this version.

~Banditkiin - Where Are All The Babies?
Removes all spawn points. Only adds the children to the leveled lists. Also includes both Armored Children and Clothing Children. Bandit children will be relatively rare in the game.

~Banditkiin - Easy Prey
Throwback to the original Bandit Children mod. Only includes Armored Children. Does not include any Clothing Children in the leveled lists or in spawn points. Spawn rates are similar to the first version.

~Banditkiin - Easy Prey Lite
Throwback to the original Bandit Children mod. Only includes Armored Children and only adds them to the leveled lists. Does not include any Clothing Children in the leveled lists. Bandit children will be relatively rare in the game.

New Bandit Classes

Bandit Children dramatically increases the variety of enemies that you can run into in a standard bandit camp. Some Children are pushovers, some are cowards, some put up a good fight, and some are monstrously powerful. Every class has eight possible appearances, for a total of over 400 possible children NPCs. Below is a full list of all of the classes, their difficulty, and the level that they start appearing. If you would like to test out the new bandits, use the console to find and add "Summoning Arrow - Bandit Child" to your inventory. Each arrow summons a random child on impact. These arrows can also be found on Bandit Soul Collectors.

? Easy - Non hostile or incredibly weak
? Medium - Will put up a fight, but it's still just an eight year old
? Hard - As difficult or more difficult than their adult counterparts
? Very Hard - You are going to be annoyed that a child is kicking your ass
? Boss or Unique - Super extra hard, will require a lot of strategy and foresight to approach them

I want to make sure that I give you a fair warning. These lvl 40+ fights are difficult. They are extremely fun and different from most other fights in Skyrim, but they aren't something you're going to succeed at by just running in with a no-magic melee character. My recommendation is using paralysis, frenzy, or another incapacitating approach before you just jump in. A single Bandit Manhunter or Necrolord can take out most bandit camps by themselves when frenzied. But they can also cold turkey your character with little effort.

New Items and Spells:

The mod adds a few items and spells related to the new bandit types. It is nothing ridiculous, just some things to compliment their skills and roles. For the most part, these are not noticeable in-game.

Children Outfits
The new children's clothes are not lootable. They are purely aesthetic. You've already murdered a kid. It felt slightly too far to let you strip them naked too. There are other mods (such as my mod Aedra Abode) that allow you to access these outfits and give them to your adopted children without stripping a dead child.

New Wooden Swords:
Battered Wooden Sword - Retextured using tree bark texture. Older, weaker wooden sword.
Hardwood Sword - Retextured using noble wood texture. Stronger wooden sword.
Enchanted Wooden Swords - Given a variety of basic enchantments and randomly distributed to some classes.

Bloodskall Blade Magic:
These tomes can be found on Bandit Twins. It is the slicing magic found in the Bloodskall Blade, but as a spell. It comes in vertical and horizontal strikes, both as single slashes and as a concentration spell.
Horizontal Blood Strike
Vertical Blood Strike
Horizontal Blood Barrage
Vertical Blood Barrage

Scrolls:
Stun - A weak lightning strike that very briefly paralyzes the opponent
Summon Nuisance - Summons an invulnerable Nuisance for 30 seconds. Each Nuisance has a chance to summon additional Nuisances.

Ingredients:
Child Heart - A regular Human Heart with slightly more guilt.
Vial of Children's Tears - Sells for a high price, but people will judge you if you carry too many of them.

Blood Arrows:
Cause a blood explosion that deals damage over time. Damage accumulates with each additional arrow.

There's probably some other stuff but it's not important.

Compatibility:

This mod is very non-invasive overall, but it does make additions to some of the levelled character lists for bandits. If you want to avoid conflicts and don't want to make a bashed patched, it will function fine if placed above any other mods that alter the bandit lists.

OBIS/OBIS Loot - Compatible. A bashed patch is recommended. Without a bashed patch, Banditkiin should go above OBIS in your load order. With a bashed patch it should go below it.

Rogues and Raiders - Compatible. A bashed patch is recommended. Without a bashed patch, Banditkiin should go above Rogues and Raiders in your load order. With a bashed patch it should go below it.

Other Bandit Camp mods - Compatible, bandit children will occasionally appear as long as the camps use leveled actors.

Mods that alter children appearance - See the FAQ. I do not know what changes these mods make. The majority of them should be compatible, but if you test it and find otherwise please let me know and I will add a note here.

Special Edition/Anniversary Edition - Compatible for both.

Oldrim/Oldrim Legendary Edition - It should be fine, even without the DLCs, as long as you re-pack it. If you use Cathedral Assets Optimizers to downgrade the textures and the LE Creation kit to re-generate the FaceGen data, I can't think of a reason that it wouldn't work. If you make an Oldrim version and want to post it, you have my blessing to do so. I will add a link here.

Killable Children - Compatible. This mod adds new races so there should be no conflicts.

If you want the full effect of all of your bandit mods, a bashed patch is strongly recommended. In the example below, the order is optimized to minimize the removals from Rogues and Raiders while including all of the new bandits from all of the mods in the leveled lists. Placing Aedra Abode at the bottom ensures that new toys and outfits will be distributed to the kids from Banditkiin.

My Personal Setup:
Rogues and Raiders
OBIS - Organized Bandits In Skyrim
OBIS Loot
Banditkiin - Bandit Children of Skyrim
Aedra Abode (For outfits and additional toys)
[Any additional bandit camp mods go here]
[Any addition bandit appearance overhauls go here]

Known Issues:

Random Size Changes: On rare occasions the children sandbox. This can cause them to use furniture meant for an adult actor. There is no reasonable way around this without touching the vanilla races. Consider it a humorous side note.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Are you okay?
A: Yeah. But believe me, when I told my therapist what I was making he had some questions. But he said it's good.

Q: Don't you think this is a bit much?
A: No.

Q: Is this just another "Killable Children" mod that breaks adoption scripts?
A: No. The children have their own races. They are killable, but their are no conflicts and the mod does not touch vanilla children.

Q: Are the children killmove-enabled?
A: Haha. Yeah. And because they use a smaller actor model, the killmoves where you stab an adult in the stomach go straight through the children's faces. But you wouldn't be here if you weren't looking forward to that.

Q: Is this compatible with [insert children appearance overhaul here]?
A: I don't know. Feel free to test it and post the result to the comments. I don't overhaul the children's appearances.

Q: Child Slaves? Really?
A: Yep. Bandits aren't exactly known for their unwavering respect for child protection laws.

Q: Can I loot their outfits to give to my own kids?
A: No. You cannot undress the children in any way, for obvious reasons. But you can get all of the outfits and more in my mod Aedra Abode - Curse of the Dragonbone King.

Q: [Insert complaint here] is overpowered.
A: Your mom's overpowered.

Q: [Insert complaint here] is not immersive.
A: Your mom's not immersive.

Q: [Insert complaint here] has too much loot.
A: Your mom's got too much looty in her booty.

Q: [Insert complaint here] is...
A: You have my full blessing to change whatever you want. The world is your oyster. But I'm not really looking for you to tell me your pet peeves. The mod works exactly the way that I want it to for my game. Unless it is a legitimate bug and/or is crashing your game then I'm probably not going to change it for you. I will fix bugs, but I'm not just going to create a new version for your personal preferences. I have received a lot of abuse from some people for inconsequential aspects of my other mods and I'm kind of over it. I'm not trying to be abrasive here and I apologize if it comes across that way, but I do want to intentionally come across as very lazy.

Q: What are you going to do next?
A: Seek therapy. Clearly my coping mechanisms are not sufficient.
