About this mod

A high-quality, true-to-vanilla skin texture set for women and female elves with various options for customisation.

Changelogs
What Skyrim's female character creation has lacked for a long time is a good texture set that, like SkySight, functions as a true vanilla improvement as opposed to a dissimilar replacement. Many existing texture sets vary so from vanilla that they lighten or darken all women significantly, or dampen the colours of mer. Lucid Skin embraces the characteristics of vanilla and offers a detailed, less alien-looking appearance for the women and wo— mer? of Skyrim.

This mod offers full vanilla body compatibility without any additional mods required, as well as versions for the CBBE and UNP UVs, covering all widely-used female body replacers.

For appearance, the images I have uploaded can only tell you so much. These are of my game with my mods and my own set-up so if something in the pictures is turning you off, don't write this off just yet. It is possible to get smooth, young-looking characters with this skin and the right ENB settings, and the same goes for a grittier aesthetic. Whilst Lucid Skin is not hyper-smooth, it does not bear the same grimy look of vanilla. For those that feel the base normal maps are still too rough, younger face normals are offered as an alternative to the default maps. Using these faces will look softer and unwrinkled. Similarly, a plain version of the face without the darker shading around the eyes can also be chosen. If you want some more grime, a dirt option for the body is available.

Technical Information
  • Diffuse, normal, and subsurface scattering maps have been saved using BC7 compression. BC7 compression is superior to BC1 and BC3 in quality and can actually be used for Special Edition.
  • Specular maps have been saved in BC4 which is about four times smaller than BC7. This is because the alpha and two colour channels are discarded. These are unnecessary for specular maps and BC4 does a good job of preserving detail in luminosity, and so the best option.
  • Body textures are 4K.
  • Head diffuse textures are 4K, optionally 2K. Head normals are 2K.
  • Hand diffuse and normal textures are 2K.
  • Subsurface scattering maps are all smaller.
