This seems really well done, great job! Personally though, I think I'd prefer a version with fewer blemishes. Some signs of wear and tear are appreciated, but the large horizontal stain which runs across the map is pretty garish, in my opinion. I'm also curious if it would be possible to provide a version without features like camps and mines already displayed on the map. Even 10 years later, I find it fun to explore the world and fill out the map, so having these already marked my map would be a negative for me.
IVofRussia, I plan on doing a paper map that is clean (new version with minor blemishes, opposed to worn version), will be out soon. I will release a paper version that is unmarked. So yes to all of your questions.
"remove map zoom limit" wasn't design to work with paper maps properly. applying flat maps to natuarlly 3d world mode has its limitation and while there is some space to improve zoom by messing with meshes, you will not increase it manually rn without ugly looking stuff here and there. but Topographic World Map got some zoom improvements in 1.5 (from ~90% of skyrim to Lake Iliinalta on one screen), I will apply script and new esp to 4k version (that Ckw25 uses here) today.
Try placing this mod and Topographic World Map at the very end of load order (left and right panel). Make sure nothing is overwriting these two mods. Let me know if the worked.
Thank you, hope you enjoy it. I have plans for Solstheim map and other added lands by mods (frame work will need to be created first though). I will be releasing another Skyrim map soon.
considering solstheim. original map creator, Timothy Cook, spent 400h making skyrim topo map. solstheim will require at least 100 I suppose, mb more for unprepared. if Ckw, or anyone else, will do that (instructions step by step can be found in comments of source mod) that will be quite a feat :)
on other hand, detailed non-topo map should be way easier to make and can be a good substitue too, framework not limited to topo maps after all.
I have a question I see you need FWMF but if i get like Paper Coldharbour Map for VIGILANT (FWMF) would that work with your mod or not, curious it would be fun to have paper maps around?
I was wondering since you require FWMF, if i use other FWMF maps like Paper Coldharbour Map for VIGILANT (FWMF) would it be compatible? I think it would fun to have all paper maps.
I came here cuz i saw same thing. But then as i started scrolling through that mod list i realized, how obsolete that mod is. (which i didn't found in list) Obsolete because of SKSE plugin (Encounter zones unlocked)
Encounter Zones Unlocked prevents the zones from getting stuck on the level you first entered them. The mod I was looking for (which is Synthesis patcher named CellEncounterLevelsInName) displays Encounter Zones level range of on map, they are unrelated.
Thank you! There won't be topographic Solstheim (are at least not any time soon, the Skyrim version took over 400 hrs). I plan on making a matching Solstheim and a new Skyrim version with leather bindings and so forth, see the wip at the bottom page of this link page?. For a paper Solstheim, check my good friend Pavelk's map here. I am not completely sure the compatibility (most likely there need to be a patch made), I will speak to that mod author about making one.
Thank you for the comment. Mirroring was the purpose (stained folds). A stained map while folded has mirrored stains (google some images). Also, as sticky posted above, I will be releasing a cleaner paper version with minimal stains.
If you had a stain texture large enough to fill out the map with 4 tiles converging around the center, having visible mirroring would look good, but as it is right now with a lot more than 4 tiles the stains look impossible: you'd have to fold the map in a really, really strange way to get such a pattern to appear. I get that texturing these kinds of things isn't easy work, but if you want to make it look like it's been folded and stained you gotta adjust what you currently have. A 4 tile mirrored stain layer would work for a map that has been folded twice into itself, if you want to go for a different type of folding, you have to plan accordingly so it comes out looking natural: if you fold a map into itself horizontally then fold it in an 'accordion' pattern, which is a pretty common way to fold maps I'd say, you'd need a different ratio for the texture in order for it to look good, etc., etc. I'd also make the stains a tiny bit more subtle personally, simply lowering the opacity would work for that I reckon. Anyways, this is just a nitpick, probably due to having held a bunch of maps that had those sort of stains and liking the look of em. You did a great job with the mod, I'm interested to see where it goes.
Thank you for the feedback. With version 1.66 of TMFW, it is now easier to texture the maps without having to use a matrix splicing system (and were working in 24Kx16K resolution before splicing, so it is very demanding on the pc). Now that a more user friendly frame work has been released, I will be releasing an updated map more to the the details you stated (that was my intention all along). I have a few other maps I will be releasing before I update this one with better fold stains with less tiling. Thank again, just know it is in the works and coming soon. See the the WIP at the bottom of the description page (that is one my works in the progress with the updated TMFW).
I will definetely give this a try. I can not feel but think it looks amazing while at the same time feel super confused when looking at the screenahot because the angle is different compared to the "Quality World Map Mod" I have been using thus far.
I hope I will get used to this because your maps look absolutely beautiful and would add more realism to my game!

I will have to test the remove map zoom limit.
Let me know what you find if you do any testing.
I'll be giving this a whirl, any plans on touching the solstheim map at all? just wondering so I know to watch out for future updates lol

Really liking their mod list. ?
