Similar fashions exist and I would like to introduce an interesting idea. What if you make it so that your stone can teleport, ignoring the battle, even inside the interior, and through the backpack there is a standard fast travel? I’ll describe why - your stone will save you if you wander into a difficult location and you will soon be killed. In order to survive, you can sacrifice an expensive stone. And the teleportation backpack is in order not to become rich, as has always been the case in the game. I want to combine your mod and another with a similar idea, but so that the integration is as logical as possible. Would you take on such a job?

I wanted to comment to say how fantastic this mod is for a survival / no fast travel mod. For me, it's the most immersive method.

I had a question, and a suggestion (if that's allowed!).

Will the wizards restock these after a certain amount of time?

The stones themselves look really good, the only thing is the lines that shows where the textures end on the metal band/wrap look off. Unsure if this could be blended or aligned. Forgive the layman's terms I am not a modder myself, this may not even be possible. That's an absolute nitpick, just a suggestion to make this mod flawless.

    Thanks!

I'm on a 100+ Survival Mode playthrough and I can't take it anymore having to travel to the other side of the map just for 1 quest and then having to come back. Don't know how well it works together with Survival but seems great. Ty!

Do you think it would be within the scope of this mod to have it trigger a special effect with like blue magicka particles around the player when the game loads in to further imply its the effect of the relic and a coolness factor?

Just incase anyway thinks of using it as a supplementary mod, this mod seems incompatible with SWIFT - Skyrim Wayshrines Immersive Fast Travel.

      How exactly are they incompatible?

I'm not familiar with the technical aspects such as what overrides what, but it seems as though SWIFT overrides the fast travel disable that's built into this mod:

      • When SWIFT allows map based fast travel via MCM this mod has no effect in preventing fast travel,

      • When SWIFT disallows map based fast travel via MCM the stones don't temporarily enable fast travel). Disabling SWIFT allows this mod to work as normal.
I believe I had a similar issue trying to use Fingerpost Fast Travel? in conjunction with SWIFT. I'll probably drop it to prioritise this mod (Aetherial Travel Stones) as the concept is something I've wanted for a long time.

      Ah good to know.

It sounds like SWIFT does repeated checks if fast travel is enabled/disabled similar to Bethesdas Survival Mode (Survival Mode does a check every 5 or so seconds I believe, leaving enough time to quickly open the map after using a stone).

I'll take a look at SWIFT and its scripts to see if I can come up with a compatibility patch.

Uploaded an updated script which should resolve the issues.

Sorry for the slow reply, only just got back to playing and modding. Thanks a lot for this! Seems to work now.

Do you need to start a new game for this or did I miss an ingame setting?
I've been able to fast travel like normal on an existing save (with no other mods that would affect it)

Normally, it should work with existing saves.

Are you able to fast travel more than once when loading an existing save after mod installation? If so, there seems to be something interfering.

A question, how would I go about debugging?

Because I started a new game and was able to fast travel all the time from the beginning of my current playthrough.

First and foremost make absolutely sure the mod is activated.
Go to any court wizard and check if he sells the stones. Make sure to let his inventory reset (wait at least 48h). If he doesn't sell any, the script probably failed to initialize.
If this is the case check the Papyrus log files (GUIDE) for any messages related to the mod and post them here.

      Hope this helps

I figured out what my problem was.

I use Survival Configurator, that is currently hidden.
In the MCM of the mod there is a checkbox to allow Fast Travel. Once I unchecked it (default setting), it stopped interfering with your mod and all works perfectly now!

Without SKSE unfortunately no, but you can use Fast Travel Speed Fix to lower the amount of time needed for fast traveling.

I think I like the idea of this mod. For someone who doesn't know the cost of a grand soul gem, can you give me an idea for the gold cost and can it be adjusted?  Also, can this mod be safely disabled or fast travel re-enabled if we decide later we're tired of playing this way?

Probably around 600 gold base value, before taking into account buying/selling changes.

Playing the devil's advocate, if the cost for one fast travel is higher than the average bounty price you'll get for traveling there, and is 10 times higher than a carriage ride, why would anyone use this?  I like the idea of a cost to discourage excessive fast travel, but I'm struggling to think when I'd choose this unless maybe it's in late game when I've figured out how to rake in so much coin I don't care. Maybe a config option for pricing and/or tie to character level?  Or the Horizon Zero Dawn Fast travel mod is cool in that it requires buying what you'd need to make the trip, but unfortunately, that mod seems to be incompatible with VR.

Sry for the somewhat late reply.

The pricing was chosen to highly discourage fast travel during early levels but to be affordable starting around the late-mid game which is pretty much the point when a no fast travel run can become more tedious than challenging thanks to a lot of Bethesda's quest design decisions. Because I wanted to keep it as simple as possile, I didn't include a way to configure the price ingame. However,  it can be easily changed in xEdit if you think it is too excessive.

I personally like it like this at least, combining it with SWIFT Wayshrines and Carriage Overhaul to fill out the early game travelling feels good to me. I think it'd be really nice to find in a loot list as an extremely rare item esp but it's p much perfect anyway, meaningful moneysinks are always welcome. Thanks for the mod.
