WHAT THIS MOD CONTAIN/DOES:
This is a reworked (not just ported) plugin which makes possible to use the original Climates of Tamriel from Legenrdary Edition on new game.
Q: "Wait! isn't CoT SE already exists on Nexus?"
A: SE version has been released later and recreated from scratch, it brings colors closer to SSE rather than original LE. The difference is COSMIC.
Features:
- Technically, this mod is a patch for Climates of Tamriel LE to make it work on SE/AE and bring exact original LE graphics.
- Provides exact classic colors of the Climates of Tamriel mod from classic Skyrim Legendary edition here on SE/AE.
- The performance will cost you zero FPS loss while giving incredibly beautiful picture.
- Maximum variety of weathers (almost 500 weather variations).
- Carries new weathers probability, cloud speed and far horizons blur removal from the Vivid Clouds and Fogs LE patch.
- This is a classic mod, so no seasons support, guys.
DISCLAIMER:
- I am not the author of the Climates of Tamriel for Legendary Edition. Under the permission of JJC71 and Mangaclub (Vivid Clouds and Fogs LE) I made a patch which makes old classic CoT to work on SE/AE. Please show your attitude to the original mods creators and endorse their mods.
- This mod is provided as is. I just shared what I did. I hope that some of you, guys, make a patch for sound and other mods. Fell free to publish them as separate mod or send them to me, i will credit and thank the author.
INSTALLATION STEPS:
Installation video manual for MO2 users:
Text version of the installation steps (any mod manager):
1. Download Climates Of Tamriel V (LE) (CoT LE).
1.1 Start CoT LE installation and choose manual instead of FOMOD, then untick all files and folders listed and choose only one file:
ClimatesOfTamriel.bsa
Alternatively you can create mod folder for CoT LE (name it as you want) in the mods folder and manually unpackClimatesOfTamriel.bsa
file from the downloaded CoT LE archive into new created mod folder.1.2. Unpack the contents of .bsa file into CoT LE mod folder and delete .bsa-file after that. To do that you can use mod manager's built in BSA unpacker (MO2 has it) or use an external tool, like this one or this one.
1.3. We continuing to get rid of some files: now delete meshes folder (unpacked from .bsa).
2 Install CoT Legendary SE AE as usual mod and place it somewhere higher in your load order (as any other weather mod).
Note about load order: some lighting mods may alter the "Image Space" data or weather sounds, so you will get non-original colors in some places. In this case it's up to you, what mod should dominate.
3. This step is OPTIONAL but recommended. Enhancing and beautifying CoT LE.
3.1. Start Vivid Clouds and Fogs LE FOMOD and select only one option called Vivid Clouds Climates of Tamriel (in the main section), you can use the half resolution version if you have low amount of VRAM.
Warning: don't enable any other checkboxes unless you are experienced user and know you are doing (for example want additional textures for steam). So, if you do install additional features, just don't forget to delete any .esp plugins after installation, if they appear in Vivid Clouds and Fogs directory, because they are in Form 43 and will conflict with current mod.
WHAT ABOUT VOLUMETRIC LIGHTING?
Very simple - volumetric lighting was suppressed by adding the parameters of VOLI data from Skyrim Legendary Weathers to each CoT weather. So all CoT Legendary weathers was ported correctly. The mod contains an .INI tweak to disable the volumetric lighting:
[Display]
bVolumetricLightingEnable=0
Q: Do I loose graphics quality without the Volumetric Lighting?
A: No, quite the opposite. The classic picture given by the Climates of Tamriel Legendary is much much better than SSE weathers with Volumetric Lighting. Besides, many people found these volumetric godrays very annoying, because they appearing everywhere, even when they shouldn't.
If using ENB, you may still get a nicely working godrays while the game volumetric lighting is disabled via INI setting. Just find the ENB preset which provides godrays shader.
RECOMMENDED MOD FOR BEST LOOKING FAR HORIZONS:
Here is some screenshots with CoT Legedrary and Volumetric Fogs to help you with choice the best version at your personal taste:

CoT Legendary with the Volumetric Fogs - balanced (performance version):

CoT Legendary with the Volumetric Fogs - dense (realistic):

SUITABLE ENB/RESHADE PRESETS:
There are two main categories of ENB presets out there:
1. ENB's made for a specific weather mod as a strict requirement. that's because these ENB's using locational weather system, which determines individual parameters for each type of weather, and even location (dungeons/caves, specific places).
2. Weather independent (universal) ENB's. These presets are not tethered to a specific weather mod and can match many of them out of the box, but some parameters still may need to be adjusted a bit. But overall it's a good alternative if you using a weather mod, on which there are no specific ENB yet.
- Patrician ENB Patch for CoT Legendary (thanks for your help, grVulture!)
- Weather is Sacred ENB - One ENB to preserve them all
- The Vanilla ENB Two
Feel free to tell me, if you discover another universal preset, which suit CoT Legendary out of the box.
Honorable ENB/Reshade presets creators are very welcome here!

GETTING SUPPORT: REQUIRED INFO
I will try to help you if I have time, but I will need specific info to reproduce any issues and fix them.
To solve some problems which left in the original mod I need:
- Weather ID (internal weather identification code).
- Ingame time of day when the issue was noticed.
- Exact location or some reference to the nearest location.
For example, if you will notice that some specific weather is too dark comparing other similar weather (for example, too bright snow storm during the night). I need to replicate the initial conditions and set the same weather using the console command, so the info mentioned above is mandatory.
A BETTER WAY TO DIAGNOSE:
- When you notice some strange weather behavior to report about it. first of all, please make sure that you disabled the ENB if you have it. You must understand that I don't support issues with ENB's. So, if you have ENB, just press
SHIFT + F12
hotkey to toggle ENB and see how the faulty weather looks without it, because it may turn out that ENB is radically changes the picture, and solving that issue is on your shoulders only. - If you still in the middle of building your mod set then please be honest with yourself in a fact, that you can not be sure in condistancy and stability of you game and mods. So, please test CoT Legendary weathers only on a clean vanilla game without any other mods, except SkyUI and SKSE core plugins/fixes. Otherwise, please don't bother me with questions, because investigating and answering take a lot of my time, and I don't want to waste it on an unfinished mod sets, where anything can be wrong. If you unable to find a way to test CoT weather on a clean game, then no offence, but you have not enough experience to do that yet, and I don't have time to write a fat book on modding here.
Several easy steps on how to get current weather ID for me:
1. Please save the game (for later use) right in the moment you see a weather with wrong brightness.
2. Temporarily install and activate STATUS mod, which can display current weather ID.
3. Load the game with a faulty weather you saved, go into MCM of the Status mod and write down the weather ID or make a screenshot. Please make sure that it has 8 or 6 symbols length.

4. Tell me that weather ID or better upload the screenshot on Imgur and the rest info I need.
5. Delete the STATUS mod and continue to play, meanwhile I will fix the brightness and update the mod.
