Changelogs
Arma Thalmoris SE is an overhaul of the Thalmor faction. It adds several new Thalmor-themed armor sets & NPCs to the game, and members of the Thalmor faction equip the new armor instead of Elven. Thalmor NPCs are beefed up somewhat, making them a more formidable enemy capable of defeating a united Empire. Thalmor locations, such as the Thalmor Headquarters in Solitude or the Thalmor Embassy, have been expanded.

Of, you prefer a lighter touch, the mod also contains the option to simply replace vanilla Elven armor & weapons with the new textures.

Note: Arma Thalmoris will NOT be released for Oldrim - this is for "Special Edition" only. If you want these textures in Oldrim, please download and endorse the following mods:

-= Mod Details =-
The full version of the mod makes the following changes to the game:

  • Thalmor Armor added, a heavy armor set slightly inferior to Ebony armor
  • Thalmor Scout Armor added, a light armor set slightly inferior to Glass armor
  • Thalmor Officer Armor added, a heavy armor slightly inferior to Dragonplate
  • Thalmor weapons added, roughly equal to Ebony weapons
  • All new items can be crafted at the forge with various combinations of "Elven Smithing", "Ebony Smithing" and "Advanced Armors"
  • All new armor and weapons can be tempered, same requirements as Elven or Ebony (depending on item)
  • Thalmor mask can be crafted at the tanning rack
  • New interior cell "ArmaThalmorisTestCell" created for testing armor & crafting
  • Guards posted at front gate to Thalmor Embassy as well as entrance to Thalmor Justiciars' Headquarters in Solitude
  • Optional texture replacer for Thalmor robes and/or Elven items
  • Thalmor loadscreen mesh modified to use Thalmor sword texture instead of Elven
  • Thalmor Headquarters in Solitude is now much larger and contains NPCs
  • Thalmor Embassy decorated with additional banners & clutter, same for interior cells
  • Thalmor Livery and casual clothing added, worn by servants in Embassy or off-duty guards
  • Thalmor Scribe's Robes and Hood added, worn by scribes at Headquarters
  • Unique commander NPC added to Northwatch Keep (replaces the generic mage)

The optional replacer version simply replaces the textures you choose with the ones from Arma Thalmoris.

-= Recommended Mods =-
I highly recommend the following mods to further enhance your Thalmor experience:

  • Cloaks of Skyrim by Nazenn -- Adds numerous cloaks & capes to the game, including several Thalmor ones. The cloaks seen in my screenshots are from this mod.
  • Weapons on Backby Slaterman -- Holsters weapons on the back instead of the hip. Not a big change, but I think Thalmor soldiers just look cooler with their swords on their backs.
  • Real Moonstone Elven Armor & Weapons by Ice885 -- replaces the default Elven textures with a more subdued color. The result matches well with the highlights on my Thalmor armor.
  • More Thalmor Dossiers by AndrealphusVIII -- Adds intelligence dossiers for numerous NPCs throughout Skyrim, making it seem like the Thalmor really ARE keeping an eye on Skyrim.

-= Known Issues =-
Arma Thalmoris alters the leveled lists and outfits for Thalmor NPCs, but existing NPCs that have already spawned wearing Elven armor may not update to the new armor instead. If Thalmor NPCs are still wearing Elven armor, make sure Arma Thalmoris is loading last (or late) in your load order - another mod may be overriding the changes to the leveled lists. You can also try targeting the NPC with the console, then using the command "resetinventory".

Due to popular demand, the Thalmor Sentinel armor is playable as of 1.38. Note that the skirt on the cuirass has some serious clipping issues, especially noticeable when crouching. This is an issue with the original mesh used, and beyond my abilities to fix.

Navmesh Note: The navmesh in the Thalmor HQ building was deleted and recreated. As a result, SSEedit or other cleaning tools may throw a dirty record error in regards to the deleted navmesh. This is nothing to worry about - AFAIK no other mod touches on the building's navmesh (it was a fairly small interior), and recreation of the navmesh doesn't seem to affect the pathing or overall stability.

-= Compatibility =-
Arma Thalmoris should be compatible with most other mods. All of the new Thalmor items introduced in this mod are standalone items, except for the optional Thalmor clothing textures. Obviously anything that uses the same names or modifies the Thalmor levelled lists might cause a minor conflict. When in doubt, place "Arma_Thalmoris.esp" last in your load order... or at least below any potentially-conflicting mods. That said, here is a list of the conflicts I know about (mods listed in alphabetical order):

  • Cutting Room Floor: The mod "Cutting Room Floor" replaces the Imperial banners inside the Thalmor Headquarters building with Thalmor banners. As a result, having both "Cutting Room Floor" and "Arma Thalmoris" loaded will cause overlapping banners - the Aldmeri ones as well as the vanilla Thalmor ones. I hope to offer a patch for "Cutting Room Floor" at some point in the future.
  • Dynamic Outfits: It's been reported that "Dynamic Outfits" by Zhalroth does not work with this mod. Dynamic Outfits uses scripts to change the clothing worn by NPCs, so it overrides the "Arma Thalmoris" changes regardless of load order. I will contact the author and/or look into the possibility of a patch, but until then consider the two incompatible.
  • Enhanced Solitude SSE: If you use "Enhanced Solitude SSE", you may notice some overlapping banners on the exterior of the Thalmor HQ building in Solitude. This issue should be fixed in either the 1.4 update for Arma Thalmoris or a separate compatibility patch.
  • M'rissi's Tails of Trouble: The mod "M'rissi's Tails of Trouble" by KreaQ makes some minor modifications to the Thalmor HQ, but its walls block the new hallway added by Arma Thalmoris. Possible "official" patch in the future. See Patches section below for a patch made by Kushranada.
  • Skyrim Project Optimization: This mod uses temporary objects to optimize performance. Since this affects the wall meshes, it has a side-effect of not showing the new Thalmor HQ spaces until you pass through the mesh. As a workaround, you can disable the temporary objects in question.

I would like to especially thank the following people for their contributions to "Arma Thalmoris":

  • Firstly, this mod would not be possible without the beautiful "Dark Elven" textures created by CaBaL120 and his allowing their use. His mod "aMidianBorn Elven Armor" was a must-have for Oldrim (along with his "Book of Silence" compilation), and getting these textures into Special Edition was the inspiration behind "Arma Thalmoris".
  • I would also like to give a huge thanks to Erlioniel for his "Elven Weapons for Silence" textures. I loved the look and based my own weapon textures on those.
  • Thank you to Jojo_ojoj on DeviantArt for the use of his excellent seamless textures, several are used throughout the mod.

Also, in no particular order, a big thank you to the following modders in the community for use of their assets:

  • LeanWolf: thinner weapon meshes.
  • Letstryagain: the "Truly Light Elven Armor" meshes.
  • Maty743: helmet & cuirass meshes from "Bosmer Armor Pack"
  • AlanovichRomanov: idea of putting Aldmeri Dominion emblem on the shield.
  • InsanitySorrow: Elven Armor display
  • PrivateEye: Elven Glaive mesh
  • BGSMERP & jlMM607: Skirts used on the Sentinel armor
  • Takozawa: Thalmor Staff mesh
  • Forteverum: Circlet and jewelry worn by Elenwen
  • Artisanix: painting and frame meshes
  • Apachii: hair mesh used by Elenwen
  • Abakus: Better-fitting Glass Helmet mesh
  • Blary: Food container resources & open book meshes
  • Lolicept: Various static clutter items
  • Oaristys: various clutter items
  • Vilidran-LeanWolf: elven blade meshes
  • Jet4571: well mesh
