I'm really sorry it's taken me this long. It seems I have dependencies in my mod that make it mandatory to update my mod whenever a new SSE/SKSE version is released. I didn't realize that because I only just updated my private build to SSE 1.5.97 and finally figured out Curse of the Dragonborn no longer works. I really apologize!
I will try to add compatibility for the Growl mod by EnaiSiaison, but my main priority is getting the mod working again.
Now that Brehanin has released version 8.3 of Better Vampires, I've updated Curse of the Dragonborn to work with his new version. Please be aware that using version 1.8 also has the following requirements:
Skyrim SE v 1.5.80
SKSE 64 v 2.0.16
USSEP v 4.1.9
SkyUI
Better Vampires v 8.3 (only if you actually use BV)
If you're still using older versions, please use v 1.7 of my mod.
Issues with BSA version identified
For whatever reason, the scripts aren't recognized correctly when using the BSAs so I'm no longer offering a BSA version and have also removed the BSA version from v 1.7. I've verified that the three bugs I just marked as "fixed" in the Bugs section are all consequences of this.
My latest tests have shown that Curse of the Dragonborn is fully compatible with Bloodmoon Rising. No patch is necessary. Moonlight Tales and Bloodmoon Rising, on the other hand, are NOT compatible! Don't attempt to run them together!
I've added a patch for Sacrosanctin this version, and a merged patch if you're using Sacrosanct and Moonlight Tales together. Sacrosanct is a great but also a complex mod, and I wasn't able to test all aspects, so if you're using my mod with Sacrosanct, there will be a slight risk factor involved. As always, if you encounter any issues, please use the Bugs section to let me know.
As with version 1.6, I've also included a loose file version for those of you who are using Better Vampires 8.2SE, since Brehanin currently only offers his mod as a loose file version. The reason I'm doing this is because loose files will always override BSA files. This means my mod won't work correctly with BV 8.2 since Brehanin's loose files will override mine, no matter where you put the mods in your load order.
Please be careful if you use the loose file version, since having loose files in your Data folder can have unforeseen consequences, especially when uninstalling!
Got this working on the latest Skyrim SE build with both Better Vampires and Moonlight Tales. I had to give myself the spell: Curse of the Dragonborn by looking it up in the console. (type: help "Curse of the Dragonborn") After using the spell everything seems to be working fine. Initially the effect disappeared after getting both lycanthropy and vampirism but re-using the spell on myself seems to have been a permanent fix. The option to add it through the MCM doesn't work.
Edit: also be sure to have this mod overwrite anything from either BV or MT
This mod doesn't work with Better Vampires + Moonlight Tales :( I tested it on a new profile with no mods active, except the required ones. The Werewolf cures vampirism even with Cure resistance active, I guess because Werewolves in Moonlight tales have 100% cure disease? Edit: it only works if you turn into a werewolf first, then vampire, not the other way around
No I didn't, I have ADHD and I miss a lot of things, since I can't really focus on anything... but nonetheless, I'm using the downgrade patch, so I'm playing on 1.5..97
Yeah, sorry guys, I've been thinking and thinking on how to upgrade this, but I've been so busy with other stuff, I wasn't able to come up with any viable solutions. I think I may have painted myself into a corner with this one. There are just too many mods out there with which this would need to be compatible, and I wouldn't know how to keep up. Brehanin has already posted several upgrades to Better Vampires, and I wasn't able to keep up with those, either. And, to be honest, I'm loath to make anything work with Sacrosanct. I just don't like it very much. Although, in that particular case, I think it has more to do with the mod author than the mod itself. Does anyone have any ideas? Or would anyone like to take over?
I'm using it with GOG Skyrim anniversary edition, Moonlight Tales, Sacrosanct, Molag's Will, and Real Feeding. It needs to be near the bottom of your load order, and seems to work best if you're a vampire first before becoming a werewolf.
The mod works perfectly. Used it with Vampire Upgrade, Werewolf Upgrade, and expanded perk tree mods for both.
However! Weird glitch that most may never encounter. After playing extensively as both for a long while I came to the conclusion that I really love being a werewolf and hate being a vampire. So I uninstalled the mod, got myself cured of vampire. The strangeness comes from the fact that whenever I turn into a werewolf and then transform back into human, I am also made into a vampire again.
I tried doing a clean save after removal, waited about 2 months in game without using werewolf. Used a witch head to cure myself of werewolf, waited 2 more months. Made another clean save. Only then did I ask Aela to make me a werewolf again. Sadly, after transforming back I am a vampire again too.
With my testing so far, the mod is active but, I was cured of lycanthropism when I became a vampire lord. Still checking out if there are some fixes that could make it work.
EDIT: I have tested something, but you need to use console commands. If you enter player.addspell 00092c48, you get the Beast Form power back, which allows you to transform into a werewolf without loosing your vampirism. You can also transform into a vampire lord without loosing the Beast Form power. Even your werewolf perks you invested are kept, and Hircine's ring's additional transformations are available. Though, you don't keep your werewolf abilities from Manbeast (disease resistance and poison weakness), but the disease and poison resistance from vampirism is better anyway. Otherwise, I don't really think Manbeast and Scion are compatible with this mod yet.
