Real Ice & Snow
by grVulture

This SSE version is not exactly the same as the Oldrim version. All textures have been retouched and it uses different textures & meshes for ice and glaciers. This way it ensures compatibility with other mods and with the vanilla way of how SSE handles ice and snow.

*****************************************************************

1. INSTALLING THE PLUGIN

*****************************************************************

BE SURE TO BACKUP YOUR ORIGINAL FILES, in case you decide that these files are not for you.

To install, unzip the RIS.zip file into your Skyrim directory or through your mod manager. Be sure to allow overwriting old files.

For maximum compatibility and to ensure snow blends nicely everywhere, open your SkyrimPrefs.ini file and set (or add):
bEnableImprovedSnow=0
bToggleSparkles=0

under the [Display] section.

1extra. TROUBLESHOOTING THE PLUGIN

*****************************************************************

It is strongly advised to generate terrain LOD through xLODGen

For anyone having problems with the way the snow/roads look/blend, go to your SkyrimPrefs.ini and make those lines look like this:
bEnableImprovedSnow=0
bToggleSparkles=0
bEnableProjecteUVDiffuseNormals=1

I suggest using RIS together with Simplicity of Snow.
This will eliminate issues such as bright or dark snow on rocks, etc.
If you want to use it with Better Dynamic Snow, there is a patch for these problems.

LOD issues:
The noise.dds file from this mod gives you the best snow lod, but washes out the terrain lod. Cathedral Landscape's noise.dds file gives you great terrain lod, but the snow lod is a lot rougher. The file from Terrain LOD Redone seems like the best compromise, with the one from Quality Maps also being a decent compromise.

2. PLAYING THE PLUGIN

*****************************************************************

This is a collection of textures (and meshes) that replace the snowy landscape, and icey regions in Skyrim. You don't need to do anything extra to enjoy it.

What you get:
- Snow that looks like real snow. And gives the impression of a much more accumulated snow on the ground. Snowy regions will be covered with more snow now.
- Icebergs, glaciers, and icefloes that look real. In reality, these do not look like icecubes in your soda! Neither do they look like green glass!
- Icicles that look like real icicles.
- Fixed up road seams on snowy roads

*****************************************************************

3. Compatibility

*****************************************************************

This mod is compatible with everything. It incorporates patches for:
- BLENDED ROADS
- iNEED
- SKYRIM 3D TREES AND PLANTS

joshawowo - A BIG thank you to Joshawowo, the creator of Real Glass Armor, who sent me a very good explanation of how to make the icicles transparent, together with a descriptive screenshot. A help very much appreciated, where without him, I wouldn't even know where to start with this!

Thanks a lot guys!
