Recently, a friend in the Simonrim Discord server told me about a criminally underrated mod created by runesentinel called Demon of Dream. This mod adds a short questline revolving around followers of the Daedric Prince Vaermina, and I fell in love with it after a short test playthrough.
However, I am a stickler for consistency (and sometimes even balance!) in my personal load order, so I sought out patches for Demon of Dream that made it play nice with SimonMagus's suite of mods. No such patches existed on the Nexus, but there was a tentative patch created by komegaki that rebalanced some of the Spells and Magic Effects to be more in line with what is present in SimonMagus's mods.
I received permission from komegaki to take his original patch and expand upon it, so now here we are! Unlike komegaki's original mod, my patches do not yet cover the enemies added by Demon of Dream; however, all unique spells, enchantments, and ingredients have been edited to better suit Simonrim. You can find information about each patch here:
Patches
Demon of Dream + Mysticism - A Magic Overhaul
Demon of Dream's four Spell Tomes (Spell Tome: Warm Slumber, Spell Tome: Conjure Loyal Knight, Spell Tome: Conjure Lesser Omen, and Spell Tome: Night Terror) have had their Value records edited to be in line with the values present in Mysticism - A Magic Overhaul. This has little-to-no effect on gameplay as you will never be buying these spell tomes and likely never selling them.
The Spells and Magic Effects added by Demon of Dream have had their numbers tweaked to more closely resemble spells from Mysticism - A Magic Overhaul. Conjure Loyal Knight is now an Adept Conjuration spell rather than an Apprentice Conjuration spell. Conjure Lesser Omen is now an Expert Conjuration spell rather than an Adept Conjuration Spell.
Demon of Dream + Sorcerer - A Staff and Scroll Overhaul
The Demon of Dream added staves Chill Night, Nightstrider's Staff, and Staff of Warm Slumber have had their Enchantment Amount values altered to be more in line with Sorcerer - A Staff and Scroll Overhaul. Similarly, the Enchantment Amount values for the Conjure Lesser Omen effect and the Warm Slumber effect have been altered to be more in line with Sorcerer - A Staff and Scroll Overhaul.
The Scroll of Night Terror now has the relevant Illusion Scroll Keyword established by Sorcerer - A Staff and Scroll Overhaul, and its Value has been lowered in accordance with that mod's established Value records. The Scroll of Night Terror can now be broken down like other scrolls to research its effects, and, after doing so, new Scrolls of Night Terror can be crafted.
I created Scrolls for Demon of Dream's two Conjuration spells: Conjure Loyal Knight and Conjure Lesser Omen. The Scroll of the Loyal Knight and the Scroll of the Lesser Omen can be broken down and subsequently crafted with Sorcerer - A Staff and Scroll Overhaul's unique workbench, but they must first be acquired in the same manner in which you acquire your first Scroll of Night Terror in Demon of Dream.
Demon of Dream + Thaumaturgy - An Enchanting Overhaul
The two obtainable unique enchanted items added by Demon of Dream, the Nightstrider's Token and Oath to Hroldar, have had their Enchantment Amount and Value values edited to be more in line with Thaumaturgy - An Enchanting Overhaul.
Oath to Hroldar no longer has a limitless Enchantment Amount.
The Nightstrider's Token now follows Thaumaturgy - An Enchanting Overhaul's slot restrictions and has had its enchantment changed to provide a 25% boost to the strength of the wearer's Illusion spells alongside a 50 point boost to their Magicka stat (Previously, this was a 25% discount on their Illusion spells and a 40 point bonus to their Magicka stat). Furthermore, the Nightstrider's Token can be disenchanted to learn the unique "Daedric Lucidity" enchantment that provides the aforementioned effects.
Demon of Dream + Apothecary - An Alchemy Overhaul
Demon of Dream adds a single new ingredient to the game, the Omen Horn. This patch changes its effects and their magnitude to be more in line with Apothecary - An Alchemy Overhaul.
Installation
Use Mod Organizer 2.
Requirements
Each patch requires Demon of Dream and the respective mod it is patching for.
Compatibility
If another mod touches the same records as any of these patches and then is loaded after them, thereby winning the conflict, then my additions will be overwritten. As of right now, I am unaware of any mod on the Nexus that could do so.
Future Plans
I'd like to add a Shrine of Vaermina from Pilgrim - A Religion Overhaul somewhere to Demon of Dream's cells at some point. When that's done, I'll probably make a FOMOD for this mod and an all-in-one (AIO) file as an option within it.
