Train to gain Skill Levels!

This is a very simple mod but fundamentally changes the way you play the game.
  • To gain skill levels (and in extension character level ups) you will need to visit trainers.
  • You will no longer gain experience by using your skills. 

Immersive Implications
  • To master some skills you will have to join some factions. I find it only realistic that a Master thief must have joined and learned from the thieves guild.
  • No more exploits from Crafting. If you want to make money from Smithing/Alchemy/Enchanting well invest in your education fist!
  • Some Trainers (looking at Block skill) require you to travel and visit some locations that you perhaps never visit otherwise. Trainers are spread across the province. This encourages you to not dump all your gold into one trainer but train different skills in a city with your spoils.
  • Finally a purpose for money in this game. Also pairs really well with mods that reduce gold gain such as economy overhauls, C.O.I.N, or Scarcity. This encourages your character to develop your own means to generate wealth and therefore training and skills. Or if you still want to haul back that heavy loot from dungeons invest into some ways that gain you carry weight such as pickpocketing, alteration or enchanting.
  • You do not need to rush certain skills or be annoyed by the vanilla training mechanics that make it impossible to "max" out training sessions at lower levels.

To compensate for this change the following gameplay changes have been made:
  • Training is no longer limited to five sessions per level
  • Master Trainers train you up to level 100 instead of 90.
  • You can no longer reverse pickpocket your money after training. While some consider this not an exploit (including the USSEP team) I do, especially for this leveling variant so I improved upon the fix by Daemonjax from 2012.

This mod changes a single script, TrainerGoldScript.pex.
Fixes from USSEP and Script Optimizations have been forwarded.

Training Costs / Uncapper Preset
I have left training costs at vanilla which means expect to invest about 1.000.000 Septims to bring 6 skills to level 100. 3 Million for all of them. Further the Uncapper preset follows Simonrim's Crusader Philosophy:

  • Accumulate 60 perk points by reaching level 50
  • No more perkpoints after level 50
  • No carry weight upgrades when leveling up
  • You will reach level 50 when maxing 6/18 skills when using Aetherius
  • You will reach level 100 (max) when maxing all 18 skills.

If you don't use Aetherius you may reach level 50 slightly earlier and may not reach level 100 after maxing all skills. 


Warning / Caveat
Do not directly trade or reverse-pickpocket gold into your follower's or spouse's inventory as it will disappear. You can delete the script file that comes with this mod to undo the trainer pickpocket fix as well as the ability to trade gold to followers. 

Any effects that increase the skill experience gain will no longer have any effect.
