Use Spell Tomes to learn Spell Research's Archetypes

Spell Research - Archetypes from Spell Tomes (SSE)

With this mod you can study Spell Tomes to learn Spell Research's Archetypes and gain Archetype experience.

This mod uses the Archetypes as they are imported by Spell Research, and therefore is compatible with Spell Packs that add further
spells to Spell Research.

This mod is similar to mods like Altered Spell Tomes for Spell Research, Spell Research Upgrade and Fixes or Spelltome Studies, but works a bit differently.

Altered Spell Tomes for Spell Research teaches you Archetypes from Spell Tomes, but the Archetypes are hard-wired into the mod and therefore do not reflect changes from importing additional or conflicting spell mods.

Spelltome Studies is not a Spell Research mod and therefore does not grant you Archetype experience.

Spell Research Upgrade and Fixes lets you analyze Spell Tomes, but does not grant you experience in the Archetypes.

This mod uses a fix to find a spell book's associated spell as it is present in the Spell Research Upgrade and Fixes mod, thanks to igotnousername.

If you are using this mod together with Spell Research Upgrade and Fixes, then using / activating a Spell Tome from your inventory will let you study the Spell Tome as in this mod. If you use the Research Journal and choose the "Begin Research" option and then use / activate a Spell Tome while researching is active, then it will analyze the Spell Tome as it is done in Spell Research Upgrade and Fixes.

Update v1.1:
- Fixed an error where the wrong Spell was determined from a Spell Tome
- Fixed the Spell description, when a Spell has no associated elements (2nd paragraph)
- Added MCM Options: Never remove Spell Tomes / Only remove Spell after successful Study

Usage

To use this mod, use / activate a Spell Tome from your inventory. A message will appear: "You are examining the Spell Tome...".

Depending on your researching experience and the level of the spell (novice/apprentice/adept etc.), studying of the Spell Tome may succeed or fail.

If you succeed in the study, a book will be shown describing the Archetypes that you've learnt and you will get experience in the Archetypes that are linked to the Spell Tome's Spell. You will also get experience in the Spell's spell school (e.g. Restoration, Conjuration etc.).

Failure to study a Spell Tome may result in different outcomes, ranging from just draining your Magicka, to blinding you or even destroying the Spell Tome in an explosion if everything goes catastrophically wrong.

Mod Installation

The mod is an ESL / ESP-FE mod by default.

Load order shouldn't matter.

Dependencies
Don't Eat Spell Tomes (API)
Address Plugin

Important
This is an SSE mod. When you are running Skyrim SSE and you want to download the "Don't Eat Spell Tomes (API)" for SSE, make sure to use the "Don't Eat Spell Tomes (1.5.97)" file in the Old Files section, otherwise this mod will not work and the Spell Tome will work as in vanilla Skyrim (eating the Spell Tome and teaching you the spell).

There are different MCM options to configure the mod's behavior, e.g.:
- Mod is enabled: when disabling the mod, you go back to eating Spell Tomes and learning Spells directly
- Consume Spell Tome after a single use or use repeatedly
- Enable / disable draining of Magicka and advancing of time
- Whether a Research Journal is required for the study
- Factor for Experience gained from the study
- Difficulty level, changing the chance of a successful study
- Skyrim Souls compatibility mode
