About this mod

A familiar face from Dragon Age: Origins. Uses vanilla voice, tailored for end-game and stuff.

This started as a way too advanced project I had many moons ago about recreating Dragon Age companions in Skyrim (at least the ones I haven't seen shared on Nexus). But burnout and real life stuff got in the way, and my interests shift elsewhere, so it's just been sitting in the back burner for awhile. Until now.

I got Alistair done, thought to myself "probably won't ever complete this, so why not share what I've managed to finish so far?" And here we are.

Apperance: Using Charmers of the Reach assets, all textures are standalone and included (except for some eye bits, normal and cubemaps use your defaults). Yes, he doesn't look like his Inquisition self and yes, I don't care. I'm basing his looks off of his appearance in Origins--wider face, square-ish jaw, thinner lips, darker skintone and hair color). I also probably got his nose wrong. Similar as his Racemenu preset here

Body mesh will use whatever default you have installed. Not interested in customizing this, sorry.

Combat: He uses his own class and combat styles--Alistair is a tank who prefers to block and bash rather than deliver heavy blows. His attacks drain 10 points of Magicka per hit (player and teammates are immune to the effect). Essential and levels up indefinitely.

Starting location: Riverwood. He'll just wander around the place. Should be Shattered Skyrim-compatible, else use something like Where Are You? to locate him easily.

Other things: For convenience reasons, he has Lightfoot and starts out in crappy farm clothes so you can gear him up with whatever equipment you want. Uses MaleBrute voice (Farkas, Orgnar, etc), marriageable. He won't murder a random civilian if you ask him to. If you want a version of him with his authentic DA:O voice... read further down below.

Technical details, known issue(s): He has his own standalone race; any mod that affects races won't affect him. There's also some gaps between his hair and the side of his face that I'm too lazy tired to fix.

Questions someone might ask in the future:

- Why can't you make him have a custom voice?
I already did, here, using a custom voice "framework" I made here. It might not be ideal depending on your stance regarding editing a vanilla quest to add support for custom voice types, though. I originally made it for my own personal use + a friend on Discord who also wanted Alistair in her game, and the method worked for our load order just fine. (Please don't suggest me to change it, make the framework completely custom, etc. Creation Kit throws a hissy fit whenever I try to work new scripts with it, so I'm stuck with piggybacking a vanilla follower quest).

If you're afraid of incompatibility and/or don't care that Alistair sounds like Farkas, just grab this version. Less headache that way.

- He doesn't attack/combat AI is weird etc. Definitely something on your end. He's supposed to block often though, don't report that as a bug lol.

- Can I submit my own screenshots? Yes, please!
