NOTICE: These mods for the Legendary Edition of Skyrim are not intended to receive any further updates. Please refer to the SSE version of the mod, if there is one available.

In the vanilla game, no river, lake or ocean is really deep enough that you ever need to worry about drowning, or even feel it's a challenge. With Skydrown installed however, those days are gone. If you for some reason really want to explore Skyrim from below the water surface, then you actually need to get yourself prepared.

With Skydrown, you will drown after spending just about one second underwater. This extremely rash nerf is not supposed to be directly realistic, but rather proportional to the low amount of water in Skyrim and how rarely you actually are forced to swim and dive.

You will now finally have a use for all those spells, enchantments and potions that provided you with the ability to breathe underwater. Skydrown also sets Argonians apart from the other races since their (remaining) ability to effortlessly breathe underwater now actually stands in huge contrast to all the other races, who need to prepare themselves.

As a feature in itself, the mod is in fact less realistic than the vanilla game. However, it will make the game more realistically challenging since it really discourages you from just diving into the water without second thoughts or preparations. For this reason, Skydrown is not directed towards average players, but rather to those who want the most challenging and immersive experience possible in Skyrim. Even though it's not required, Skydrown is supposed to be used alongside other survival mods, such as Frostfall.

Using Vortex is the recommended method.

All you need is Skyrim.

Skydrown should be compatible with everything except from mods that attempt to do the exact same thing.
