    Hi guys,

After reading many comments, I think that the main problem being with the tricks animations not triggering properly. (besides not properly installing the required mods ex: Online Content Unlocker, RDR2 OfflineMode, ScriptHookV2, etc.)

After installing the mod properly along with it's requirements, when double tapping the holster key, the tricks shortcuts menu can be seen for a brief second (the disappears) and the gun is holstered normally.

THE ISSUE (If you installed the mod correctly):

    • The menu opens fine, you can select tricks.
    • But when you double tap the holster key, the tricks menu shows for a second then disappears.
    • The gun just holsters instead of doing the trick.

    From my experience:
The mod works perfectly if the holster key is set to default (TAB). Double tapping TAB will trigger tricks properly.
But if you change the holster key (for example to CAPSLOCK), the mod stops working properly after restarting the game. Even if you reset the holster key back to TAB, the issue stays. Reinstalling GunTricks.asi and GunTricks.ini does not fix it.

    WORKAROUND (what worked for me):

    • Set two holster keys:

      • First box: TAB
      • Second box: CAPSLOCK (or your preferred key)
    • Unholster your revolver (have it in your hand).
    • Press and hold CAPSLOCK for about 1 second.
    • Quickly release and press CAPSLOCK again fast.
    • The gun should start spinning and tricks shortcuts menu appears.
    • Press the holster key again to holster the weapon.

    POTENTIAL FIXES:

    • Go to game settings and reset holster key to TAB.
    • Completely delete the mod:

      • Delete GunTricks.asi and GunTricks.ini
      • Also remove RDR Online Content Unlocker, OfflineMode and ScriptHookV2
    • Reinstall all required mods from scratch.
    • Reinstall the GunTricks mod again.
    • Do not change the holster key

    P.S.
Alongside GunTricks, i use a lot of other mods and none of them the breaks this mod, it just works for me.
These are the main mods i use for this mod, that works for me:
    LITE - Multiplayer Asset Enabler
    ScriptHookRDR2 V2
    and of course LML

Please let me know if this helps and feel free to to leave any reply, i will try to be as helpful as possible.
  4. I have no idea how the hell to change the open keybinds. I'm reading the INI file and the linked page and it makes zero sense to me.

    Hi,

I've only done very brief testing for version 1491.50, but I can confirm that the Gun Trick Mod works, very big thanks for creating and sharing it with us.

For those struggling with installation, here is a brief of what to do:

    #1 -  Download and install scripthook (https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/1472?tab=files)
    - make sure that you only install "ScriptHookRDR2 V2" and NOT Mod Loader Asi...Now Copy ScriptHookRDR2.dll into the main Red Dead Redemption 2 folder.
#2 - Download and install asi loader (dimput8.dll) Only from here (https://github.com/ThirteenAG/Ultimate-ASI-Loader/releases) and Choose Win64 Section (dimput8.dll) Now Copy (dimput8.dll) into the main Red Dead Redemption 2 folder
    #3 -  Download and install Lennny's Mod Loader (https://www.rdr2mods.com/downloads/rdr2/tools/76-lennys-mod-loader-rdr/)
#4 - Download and Install Gun Trick Mod and Now Copy Gun Trick Mod Files into the main Red Dead Redemption 2 folder
#5 - Download and install Red Dead Offline 1.3.3 (https://www.rdr2mods.com/downloads/rdr2/weapons/103-red-dead-offline/) Copy "red_dead_offline" Folder into "lml" folder locate at Red Dead Redemption 2 folder...
#6 - Download and install "Online Content Unlocker" Version 2.2.1 (https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/1688?tab=files)
(Its very important to only install this version its the only one working for Gun Tricks) and place "lml" Folder containing "mp009Loader" and "Online Content Unlocker"  into the main Red Dead Redemption 2 folder...
#7 - Open  Lennny's Mod Loader ( ModManager.UI.exe ) and click View and Managed your currently installed mods and Move "mp009Loader" and "Online Content Unlocker" and "Red Dead Offline"  to the top list and make sure "Overwrite" is tick for those 2 mods "mp009Loader" and "Online Content Unlocker" just in case...

    * make sure that you do not have version.dll installed in your main Red Dead Redemption 2 folder

many thanks to RampageDev for this amazing Mod!

for some reason i'm not able to open the gun tricks menu. i did everything as you said, but cant get it to work. I have LmL folder in the main rdr2 folder & have all three mods enabled (mp009Loader, OCU, and red dead offline) in the LmL GUI. dinput8.dll/scripthookRDR2.dll & gun tricks folder in the main rdr2 folder. i do not have version.dll installed and i have version 2.2.1 of OCU as well. am i missing something?

It will work once setup correctly (certain dll's work while others do not etc). but (based on what hlcn06 said below)...

...I was just doing some brief testing and if you don't have 'dlcpacks' (I am not sure which ones enable Gun Tricks specifically to work) then the gun spinning does not work (and reacts like you said). here is how I tested... I setup the mod so I know Gun Tricks was working. then I exited game and the only thing I changed was I renamed 'dlcpacks' to 'dlcpacks_' and then started the game and the Gun Tricks no longer works as the menu entry shows but Arthur does not do any spinning of the guns etc, which is what you are experiencing.

so assuming you setup the mod correctly (see my "p.s" section below on what I am currently using (although other ways work to)), how large is your "Red Dead Redemption 2/x64/dlcpacks/" folder? ; because this appears to have a major effect on this Gun Tricks mod.

NOTE: my 'dlcpacks' folder (located at "Red Dead Redemption 2/x64/") is "16.5 GiB (17,767,404,187 bytes)" (which I am pretty sure is the size for ALL official DLC stuff in general. I have 25 folders in here). even looking at 'LITE Multiplayer Asset Enabler' that I am currently using in it's 'unlocks' folder, if that's a rough indication of the 'dlcpacks' files it uses/needs, that's still "13.7 GiB (14,709,612,715 bytes)" of data.

p.s. I am currently using... ThirteenAG's dinput8.dll, ScriptHookRDR2.dll (the v2 which is on this Nexus Mods site), LML BETA 11, Multiplayer Asset Enabler, and the Gun Tricks mod. note:I have others like WhyEm's mod to but that's not important for getting Gun Tricks working.

To simplify things a bit for you at the moment... how large is your 'dlcpacks' folder located in your games installation directory at "Red Dead Redemption 2\x64\"? ; just right click that 'dlcpacks' folder in file manager and select 'properties' will tell you it's size on your hard drive.

I just want to make sure you have this data in place first before doing anything else. because if this is missing, the mod most likely won't work no matter what you do (I got the mod working on 2 out of 3 dll's I have tried as you can see in my reply to 'ghosttgtgg' below).

p.s. that was the basic point of my test with renaming "dlcpacks" to "dlcpacks_" as that essentially disables the game from using data in that folder, which then stopped the Gun Tricks mod from working. hence, data in this location is important for this Gun Tricks mod (and I am not sure if everyones RDR2 copy has this data or not, which is why I am asking you to check this stuff). this is why I am asking you how large your 'dlcpacks' folder is. because if yours is quite a bit smaller than mine etc, then there is a good chance this is the reason it's not working, especially if you setup the Gun Tricks mod correctly and it's still not working.

Okay, that's good. that likely means your game data is okay and should work with Gun Tricks once you set it up properly. to make it simple for you, make sure your current game is completely stock (i.e. no mods at all. so remove all additional dll's (version/dinput8) you used in the past etc) and then simply extract the following file to the root of the game directory where the game is installed and then start up the game and it should work... https://buzzheavier.com/ss328ei39nk4 ; it's a 2.6MB "GunTricks149150.7z" file.

I just tested that file on my "1491.50" copy a moment ago after I removed ALL other mods I was using on my game first and it works.

NOTE: to give you the details of precisely what that "GunTricks149150.7z" file includes in it... Lenny's Mod Loader BETA 11, ScriptHookRDR2.dll (the 'v2' from this Nexus Mods site), LITE Multiplayer Asset Enabler v1.4.0, dinput8.dll from ThirteenAG and, of course, this Gun Tricks mod. it's precisely "7.3 MiB (7,643,995 bytes)" in a useable state.

If you playing a cracked version this will be buggy. You'll be able to get one spin or two before asi or error appear. Just purchased full game and don't have any problems with it compared to cracked version.

It should. I currently have that (Red Dead Offline v1.3.3) active (along with 'WhyEm's DLC Red Dead Offline Edition' etc) along with this Gun Tricks mod on "1491.50".

but I noticed only two out of three DLL's I tried work with this particular Gun Tricks mod, which are...

      -version.dll (from 'rdr2_asi_loader_02_2' zip) = works
-version.dll (from March 2025 from ThirteenAG) = does not work (you can see the stuff shows up on screen to press a button but the animations don't work with Arthur doing the gun tricks)
-dinput8.dll (from March 2025 from ThirteenAG) = works

NOTE: here is the ThirteenAG files I mentioned above... https://github.com/ThirteenAG/Ultimate-ASI-Loader/releases ; use the 'Win64' ones and only have one dll in the root of the game directory at a time.

there might be others that work or don't work, but that's my experience in my testing.

p.s. there is more info in relation to getting WhyEm's working (depending on whether you use 'version.dll' or 'dinput8.dll') but since this is a 'Gun Tricks' topic, ill skip the additional info for now.

side note: since 'xsavagex7' talked about it in his March 1st 2025 post, when it comes to 'Online Content Unlocker' I can use the newest v3.0 (instead of the older v2.2.1 (but maybe some data could be needed on this older v2.2.1 for those who don't have certain files in their 'x64/dlcpacks' folder in game directory(?) as my directory is "16.5 GiB (17,767,404,187 bytes)")), which is needed with WhyEm's etc and I don't even need to use 'ModManager.UI.exe' at all.

EDIT: I tried what the TheUnseenCowboy818 said from his March 9th post (with 'LITE_Multiplayer_Asset_Enabler' folder in 'lml' directory) and that works to with Gun Tricks as I just removed the 'Online Content Unlocker' folder from 'lml' directory etc. I just have not checked to see if the sound bugs are fixed (in the swamp area with Alligator/Crickets etc) or not based on their video that shows a demonstration of that stuff with the Mutiplayer Asset Enabler enabled.

Here s the solution for who s animations dont work...mod wont work if your dlcpacks are missing.Onliine content unlocker just making that dlc packages activates in your story mode game so that mean go to check your Red Dead Redemption 2 / x64 / dlcpacks folder. There has to be some files start with mp (mp001 mp002 ...etc) if theese files are missing you have to download them. For download that files go and find rdr2 ultimate edition rgl from torrent and you should only download that mp files . Dont need to download whole game. With that mp files it would be 14-15 gb .When download complete, select all the mp files and paste to your dlcpacks folder. That it... your gun tricks and smoking complete mods will be work..
