    Incompatibilities & Workarounds

    If you’re running into some issues with this mod, whether it be Arthur/John "t-posing" or the game crashing on startup, then make sure to check for any mods that could be conflicting with this one.

    Here's a small list showing a few common mods that are either incompatible or need to be put at a lower/higher priority in the Mod Manager:

    • John Marston Animation Overhaul: OBVIOUSLY INCOMPATIBLE, DO NOT INSTALL, IF YOU DO, A DOG DIES. Thank you. :D

    • Disable Combat Stance: Completely incompatible, recommended to remove this mod.

    • Holstering Animation: Completely incompatible, use the "clip_sets.ymt" from the optional file "Extended Weapon Animations" if you only want the holstering animations.

    • IronSight (Strafe Animations): The optional file contains a conflicting file called "strafeanimations.meta", recommended to remove.

    • Zen: Either give this mod a lower priority than my mod or delete the “human_character_upper.ymt” file located in lml —> Zen —> moon.

    • Immersive Scenarios: Either give this mod a lower priority than my mod or delete the “human_character_upper.ymt” file located in lml —> Immersive Scenarios —> Carry Fix.

    • JMFAO & AMFAO: Download the merge provided by both of these mods and either give these mods a higher priority than my mod or delete the “facial_clipset_groups.xml” file located in lml —> Animation Fixes —> Extended_Player_Animations —> Upper_Body_Animations.

    • Enhanced Brawling: Download the merge and follow the instructions provided by this mod.

    And if you have the “Extended Weapon Animations” optional file installed and are having issues getting John's beta aiming animations to work, then I recommend checking this article, that might fix it for you.

    This section is here to show you which files you can mix between the 3 versions.

    — The yellow text on the left are the swappable files and the green text on the right are the versions those files exist in. —

    motions.ymt & human_character.ymt | Base - RDR 1
    RDR 1’s version replaces John’s vanilla in-game animations for ones that resemble RDR 1’s.
    ! Very important to transfer both files between versions. !

    motiontypes.ymt | Base - Weapons
    Weapons’ version gives John unique/beta gun holding animations.

    default.meta | Base - RDR 1
    RDR 1’s version has a unique “hip fire” rifle animation for John.

    gang.meta | Base - RDR 1
    Same thing as above, but for NPC John.

    clip_sets.ymt | Base - Weapons
    Weapons’ version removes the “gestural” gun holstering animations (basically doing this).

    facial_clipset_groups.xml | Base - RDR 1
    RDR 1’s has slightly more serious facial animations for John compared to the Base version.

    metapeds.ymt | Weapons
    This gives John the beta aiming animations, remove it to go back to vanilla.

    motiontypes_alt.ymt | Weapons
    This gives John only the beta rifle holding animations, the handgun holding animations stay vanilla.
    ! Remove "motiontypes.ymt", and rename "motiontypes_alt.ymt" to "motiontypes.ymt" to get this effect. !

    motiontypes_arthur.ymt | Weapons
    This gives Arthur the same beta handgun holding animations as John's.
    ! Remove "motiontypes.ymt", and rename "motiontypes_arthur.ymt" to "motiontypes.ymt" to get this effect. !

    z_facial_clipset_groups.xml | Base - RDR 1
    This contains a more unique "normal" facial animation for John, closely resembling its RDR 1 counterpart even more so than the RDR 1 version.
    ! Remove "facial_clipset_groups.xml", and rename "z_facial_clipset_groups.xml" to "facial_clipset_groups.xml" to get this effect. !

    z_default_experimental.meta | Base - RDR 1
    This contains an alternative aiming animation for John (The "Weapons" version needs to be installed before hand).
    ! Remove "default.meta", and rename "z_default_experimental.meta" to "default.meta" to get this effect. !

    This is for those that liked one particular thing from one particular version and are willing to sort of “personalize” the mod a bit by only choosing a specific file/feature from any of the versions.

    When lawmen try to arrest player, their arm animation's are corrupted, when I removed cowboy.meta this bug was solved, what I want to know is what does cowboy.meta do?

      "cowboy.meta" is where you edit NPC aiming animations, it's main usage in this mod is to fix transitions while you're playing as an NPC, so that you don't get soft-locked when reloading, it also restores unused aiming animations for NPC John.

      And about the bug, I remember getting this bug once before back when I was still working on the 2.5 update, and I tried to figure out why by testing this scenario multiple times with and without the mod, then found out that this bug can happen without the mod as well, seems to be just a rare thing that happens for some weird reason.

      And just to make sure, I also just got arrested multiple times with the mod installed before replying to you, and the aiming animations for the lawmen seemed to be working fine, so I'd say you're more than safe to keep that file in the folder, as it doesn't seem to be the cause of this bug.

      I went and tested it again and the animation is only corrupted when lawmen use repeaters

      Well, it seems like I was the one who screwed up at the end of the day, my stupid ass somehow made the NPCs use the wrong animations when they aren't underfire, which made them act all wonky and silly when lawmen arrest you. Use this file, replace it with the one in the mod and let me know if it works. I already tested the file and I have not seen any issues, but one can't be too sure.

    My game just completely crashes when I get into the load into the game so I don’t know how to fix this. There’s no error message the entire game just closes.

    This mod is amazing.
    Just holstering gun has a weird buggy transition on boat. Can I remove it?

    managed too get it working but i cant get john to hold his gun upright any suggestions?

      Ok in did it, what you wanna do is swap the "motiontypesYmt" from rhe weapons folder to the one in the base folder.

    I wish you could do something against this automatically jump/hop on hay/stairs etc.
    But everything else of this mod is just amazing, thank you very much!!!
