About this mod

This mod allows any spells that require material components to be cast with the material component's gold cost instead. If the materials are present, they are spent first, as in vanilla.
Missing cooking, alchemy and scroll scribing ingredients can also be bought automatically.

Summary

Don't want to waste time searching for materials for your spells? Want to cast the epic Legendary Proportions spell more than a handful of times throughout the whole game? Removing material requirements altogether is feeling cheaty? Then this mod is for you!

With this mod you can set options to automatically buy:
  • spell material components,
  • food ingredients,
  • potion crafting and spell scribing ingredients.

Here is how it works:
  • If enough material components/ingredients are in inventory, they will be spent first. This is the same as vanilla.
  • If not, the total gold cost of the material components/ingredients will be deducted.
  • If you do not have the materials/ingredients nor the gold coins, the spell cannot be cast (or potion crafted etc.), same as vanilla.

There is a slider option in the mod menu (default ctrl + F10) to change the price multiplier, which ranges from 0 to 200% (default at 100%). If you wish to be more lore friendly you can set the slider to 150% for casting spells, and imagine that your caster has the Invested Magic feat.

Please do not forget to endorse the mods you enjoy! (although I forget to do that myself all the time!)

Update 0.4.1: There might have been cases where enemies casting the spell causing the player to lose money, should be fixed now. It should also be possible to properly disable the whole mod from the UMM mod menu now.

Installation

  • Install the latest version of Unity Mod Manager (UMM), and set it up for Pathfinder: WotR.
  • Manually download the mod archive (.zip), and install it through UMM. You can simply drag & drop the archive to the box in UMM.

You are set! The game should show the installed mods at the main menu.

Note that using mods disables Steam achievements. You can re-enable them with this mod (at least at the time of writing this).

Other Information

If you have part of the material components in the inventory (e.g. try to cast Resurrection with 1 diamond), then the diamond will not be used.

The log displays whatever is spent for spells or for crafting (gold coins or materials). Each bought ingredient is printed separately.

The mod does not change any files, so it should be compatible with most other mods and should not mess with your save games. That being said, use it at your own risk. It should also be compatible with any other mods/patches adding material components/changing their prices etc.

The patch for crafting potions and scrolls is a little bit more involved, and might prevent future changes in the crafting system (either through mods or an update). Disabling them in the mod menu should solve the issue.

Although I try my best to avoid bugs, and the changes are quite simple, they might still exist... All bug reports and constructive feedback are welcome!
