Defy the post-death loading screens with "unDeath"! With unDeath, instead of dying to your enemies, you're just knocked unconscious and you lose some XP.

Lightweight mod, all variables/features of this mod can be tweaked to your liking via MCM.

Have you ever played a Fable game before? And if so, do you remember how death worked? The game would slow down and you'd lose your XP orbs. It sucked, but that was the game - it wasn't possible to save scum. 
 
I've gone and replicated this in Fallout: New Vegas. Now, instead of perishing in combat, you topple over (in slow-motion) from whatever direction you were struck from, you lose 10% of your XP, and when you come to it - you have a few seconds of invulnerability (for you to retaliate or flee).

unDeath is divided into 3 stages:
  • Instead of dying, you are rendered unconscious, lose 10% of your XP and your health will be a quarter of your maximum health until you heal.
  • You stay in this unconscious state for 5 seconds, before returning to your feet.
  • For 8 seconds after recovering, you will be invulnerable to all incoming attacks. Which will give you enough time to heal (or some time to retaliate and get a few shots off).

MCM Functionality:
  • Player KO duration can be adjusted.
  • Invulnerability duration after recovering can be adjusted.
  • The Slow-Motion rate can be adjusted.
  • The XP (loss) Multiplier can be adjusted.
  • You can toggle an XP loss cap of 1,000. Useful for higher-level couriers.
  • You can toggle whether or not your enemy's health resets after KO.
  • You can toggle whether or not your enemies will forgive (or forget) you after fighting them. Does not apply to NPCs that are aggressive by default.
  • You can toggle whether or not your enemies run away from your body after they knock you out (so they don't camp you).

Side note(s):
  • Fall damage and (some) explosions will kill you.
  • It isn't possible for essential characters to die while reloading their weapon. In fact, once an essential character (who's reloading) health drops below 0, their health resets to full. This was happening to the player during testing, because of this, I've made it so you will be knocked out after you've finished reloading (if you were doing so).




unDeath doesn't place anything, edit any pre-existing references, or anything else that would cause conflict. The only thing that would/should be incompatible with unDeath is any mod that aims to do what I've done.

  • Requires NVSE, JIP LN NVSE Plugin, JohnnyGuitar NVSE, and Mod Configuration Menu.
  • Download using your preferred Mod Manager (FOMM, MO, Vortex, NMM)
