Hello,
This mod page is heavily written by ChatGPT, so yeah. I took a crack at this concept like 4 years ago, it was pretty crappy at the time, as I wasn't as experienced in modding as I am now. Main differences now is that I learned XML for menus, and I was really anal about holidays landing on the correct day. When I re-entered this foray, I realized that the base game's month/day system really sucked, so I overcomplicated the hell out of it to be as accurate as possible. No really, this shit is really accurate.

But yeah, should you decide to download this mod... enjoy. It was fun to work on, and it taught me some math stuff. Anyways, take it away ChatGPT!

Description:
Embark on a captivating journey through the Mojave Wasteland, where the concept of time acquires a fresh layer of significance in your immersive Fallout: New Vegas roleplay. Clockwork Vegas introduces you to a world where the flow of days and seasons becomes an intriguing part of your adventure, adding novelty, immersion, and depth to your roleplaying experience. Let's explore the mod's unique features that enrich your narrative in the Mojave.

Features:
  • Revised Months: Say goodbye to the predictable cycle of 31-day months. Clockwork Vegas ensures that each month now adheres to a realistic calendar, accounting for leap years to add that extra layer of authenticity.

  • Authentic Holidays: Celebrate holidays as they should be. This mod guarantees that important occasions like Thanksgiving and Easter are observed on their true dates. Thanksgiving consistently falls on the 4th Thursday of November, while Easter arrives on the first Sunday of April.

  • Customize Your Birthdate: Before stepping up to the Vit-o-matic Vigor Tester, define your character's birthdate. Choose an age between 16 and 80, reminiscent of the character age range in the original Fallout 1 and 2 games. Forge a deeper connection with your character as their journey through the Wasteland aligns with their personal timeline. For those who enjoy TTW, the default birthdate for the player is the July 13th 2258 (The Lone Wanderer's canonical birthday).

  • Daily Pop-ups: Stay synchronized with the passage of time through informative corner messages that display the current date. On special days, holidays and events will be highlighted within [brackets]. Multiple occasions can occur simultaneously, providing a dynamic and vibrant calendar experience. (For optimal display, use in conjunction with Xilandro's B42 Notify mod.)

  • Weekly Events: Uncover new opportunities every week! Sundays bring a chance to gamble at the Casinos, even if you were previously banned. Friday nights offer discounted prices at the bar, making it the perfect time to score some bargains. Feel free to share your suggestions for more weekly events!

Want to add some Holidays?
  • Navigate to data\Config\SD_Calendar
  • Open one of the text files in there and take a look at the format it's written in.
  • Create a new text file, or just make a copy of one of them.
  • Change the information in there for the holiday you're trying to make. Just note, Fallout's month system is zero-indexed meaning that 0 = 1 (January), 11 = 12 (December).

Want to remove some Holidays?
  • Navigate to data\Config\SD_Calendar
  • Delete the text file related to the holiday.
  • It's that easy.
  • Don't be one of those people in the comments. If you don't like it, delete it. I'm being inclusive, I'm not pushing any political or cultural agenda onto you.
