Note that each time MHR gets a major update, then many mods will no longer be compatible with the game. Mods that are no longer incompatible will usually lead to an infinite loading screen.
For anyone else who is a linux gamer like myself, but doesn't have a steamdeck and is gaming on a linux desktop, I've figured out how to get fluffy manager working for MHR. Be warned, I wrote all this down after I got the mod installed and working so my info might not be 100% right, but it should be close enough that you could figure out anything that I might be missing.
01: Download Fluffy Manager 5000 02: Extract all the files into the root of your monster hunter game folder so that the Modmanager.exe and MonsterHunterRise.exe are in the same folder. 03: Add the modmanager.exe to steam with proton compatibility enabled, whichever proton version you're using, I'm using the experimental branch. When you add the exe to steam click on [Add a Game > Add a Non-Steam Game > Browse > Navigate to your Monster Hunter install folder > under File Type choose All Files to get the Modmanager.exe to show up > Select the Modmanager.exe file > Click Open > Add Selected Programs > right click on Modmanager.exe that now shows up in your steam games library list > Click on Properties > Compatibility > click on 'Force the use of a specific steam play compatibility tool' > Choose your version of proton > close properties] 04: Start Mod Manager. 05: Select - Options. 06: Select - Define Game Info. 07: Select - Current Game: Monster Hunter Rise 08: Choose - Install Path [wherever you installed Monster Hunter Rise] (This is the part that's a little cloudy for me, I think installing the manager into the root directory of MHR enabled the path to be found. 09: This should enable you to load mods. 10: Add mods to the Games > MHRISE > Mods folder. 11: Re-read game archives and refresh mod list. 12: Enable mods.
I got this to work with Kubuntu, might need to change something if how I've written it out doesn't work for you.
Also, if you try and launch the game from Fluffy Manager, it for some reason will still load reframework (if you use it), but it won't be able load the ui for it, so you should just activate your mods, close fluffy then launch Monster Hunter Rise like normal through steam. What I did was launch the game through fluffy once just to make sure the mods loaded, then closed it and relaunched the game like normal through steam and they still worked.
To The Mod Author: If you want to put this on the front page and have it removed from here, by all means go right ahead. I just spent a few hours trying to get fluffy to work and decided to share the fruits of my trials.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: I've got a new entry for the mod manager on NexusMods. If you want help using it, you should go to the post section for the new NexusMods entry: https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/818?tab=posts
The Fluffy Manager self-updates when i launch it a few days ago. It makes some mods broken/unusable as the results. Is there anyway to fix or rollback the update?
Edit: Reintstalling the Fluffy Manager fixed the problem.

So I was wonder if anyone could tell me what Im doing wrong, Im following a guide to install the mod manager properly for game pass version of rise but it tells me the game pathway cannot be found, and when I try to manually and route the directory a message pops up saying "You don't have permission to open this file" and even giving admin doesn't seem to work, Need help badly.
To anyone having trouble getting Fluffy mods to work on the gamepass version, try enabling Load Loose Mods in REFramework. That seems to work perfectly. you'll need to do it every time you launch the game
didnt work. i enabled loose loader first, closed game, added mods, started the game again with the remember option on, and no mods work. tried this multiple times. i changed the natives folder from STM to MSG, and still no avail lol im not sure what im doing wrong
EDIT: i followed your instructions again, including renaming the STM folder in natives to MSG, and it turns out some mods work. i dont know if chaning the native folder name had any effect but enabling loose loader worked. thank you for your time. i dont know which mods actually work, i just installed every one i had and some of them worked like Longsword Enhanced, and the holy moonlight sword.
seem to have some sort of problem my mods arent working and i cant disable or enable them, i forced uninstalled the mods and now i cant reintsall them. something about error to open file to re-encrypt pak file or something
Hi. Maybe a stupid quastion. How unistall this when i finish MHR definitely? Only delete this files? II dont see option unistall or something like this. Othervise very good tool. Much easier and clearest compare to Vortex.
