Version 1.1.0
Removed 155 annoying Hitman 3 sound effects.
This mod removes overdubbed sound effects of your choosing. Classic UI audio from Hitman 2016 and Hitman 2 is also available.
Compared to the rest of the trilogy, Hitman 3 features a distinct lack of subtlety and overall maturity. One of the most obvious examples is its sound design. Hitman 3 introduced new sound effects for basic gameplay elements that were previously silent, breaking immersion and dumbing things down with reduced difficulty. It also replaced an impressive variety of subtle or subliminal sound effects that were already in place, making them overt, distracting, and often cartoonish.
As a huge fan of classic Hitman games that consistently used a much more minimalistic audio style, sound design was very high on my list of Hitman 3 grievances (alongside the patronizing additions of poison smoke and security cameras that advertise their positions). As such, I felt compelled to do something about it. Thankfully, I had an excellent foundation to build on with HITMAN 3 Sounds Penultimate by unalteredepic.
The purpose of this mod is to allow everyone to choose which overdubbed sound effects they want and which ones they don't. Some may use it to mute a single particularly annoying sound effect (I highly recommend the "Disguises" option), while others may want to mute everything on the list. The choice is yours.
As of version 5.0, a "User Interface" category is available as well. Beyond muting Hitman 3's irritating UI sounds, this category also features an elaborate faithful recreation of the UI audio from Hitman 2016 and Hitman 2. Aside from reverb effects applied by the game, every sound is painstakingly matched in pitch and volume.
--- Simple Mod Framework options are listed below.
• Sweeteners - Mutes over a hundred sound effects triggered by numerous player actions for dramatic emphasis. Includes firearm hits/kills, thrown melee impacts, takedowns, neck snaps, lockpick success, etc. • Trespassing - Mutes sound effects that play when entering and exiting restricted areas. Silent before Hitman 3. • AI States - Mutes sound effects that play when NPCs react and change states (investigation, combat, arrests, etc.). • Disguises - Mutes the sound effect that plays when changing into a different disguise. Subtle before Hitman 3. • Lock-Ons - Mutes sound effects that play as part of the lock-on system for throwing melee weapons/items at NPCs. • Intel Discovered - Mutes HUD notifications for receiving intel. • Limited Vision Area - Mutes sound effects that play when blending in with crowds and foliage. Silent before Hitman 3. • Attention Alert - Mutes the noise buildup from the "Attention Alert" HUD element, or "tension" in older Hitman games. (The vanilla in-game option does not cover audio.) • Instinct - Mutes sound effects that play when using instinct. This disables everything except for the filter effect applied to all in-game audio while instinct is active. • Objectives - Mutes sound effects related to mission objectives (new, completed, failed, target identification, etc.). • Mission Story Guidance - Mutes sound effects related to Mission Stories (nearby, timeout, finished, lost, tracking, etc.). • Picture-in-Picture - Mutes the Picture-in-Picture (PiP) HUD element. • Performance/Scoring HUD - Mutes sound effects for 'Performance XP & Scoring' HUD notifications with the in-game option enabled. • Challenges HUD - Mutes HUD notifications for challenge progression and completion with the in-game option enabled. • Freelancer Crates - Mutes sound effects related to crates in Freelancer. • Scope Music - Mutes the Seiger 300 Advanced's Ave Maria scope. • Main Menu Music - Mutes the main menu music. • Pause Menu Music - Mutes the pause menu music. • Safehouse Music - Mutes music in the Freelancer safehouse.
User Interface • Classic -A faithful recreation of the elegant minimalistic UI audio used in both Hitman 2016 and Hitman 2. • Silent -Hitman 3 UI audio removed. Any sounds left over from Hitman 2016 and Hitman 2 are still in use. • Vanilla -Hitman 3 UI audio unchanged. Not recommended.
