Description

Unlike most of the other mods for FC3 which tend to describe themselves as "overhauls", this mod is more of a compilation of essential tweaks. The purpose of this mod is to stay as true and close to the vanilla FC3 experience, but remove all of the intrusive UI elements (mainly sound fx but also some optional visual elements), hopefully resulting in a greater level of immersion for the player.

This edited .DLL will disable/remove the extremely annoying and loud humming noise in the vanilla game which plays constantly if you open up either:

(1) The in-game main menu by hitting "ESC" (eg, to look at your crafting, handbook, loot, or options).
(2) The weapon vendor buy/sell menu (whether from an actual shop or an auto machine in your safehouse).
(3) The in-game map - in FC3 (unlike FC2's immersive handheld map) you find yourself opening the map a lot (for fast travel and exploring).

Having this bass-rich humming blaring from your speakers drives me insane and I know from other forums that it has the same negative effect on others. It is especially loud for me since I crank up my volume while I am playing so I can hear all the ambiance FX clearly - I used to mute my volume when opening the menus - with this mod you no longer have to.

Change Log

BUG FIX: Fixed all of the tagging glitches when tags were occurring when they were not meant to and tags were not occurring where they were meant to.

BUG FIX: Fixed the minimap glitch where it was blacked out. All roads, buildings and terrain are now showing up correctly.

NEW FEATURE: Overhaul of Casual Version. Casual Version implements just sound changes. Enemy tagging, wallhack, reload notification icon and item blinking are all active.

NEW FEATURE: Overhaul of Immersed Version. Immersed Version implements all sound changes plus enemy tagging, wallhack, reload notification icon and item blinking are all disabled.

NEW FEATURE: Re-enabled 'fog of war' for both versions as this caused problems with the minimap.

NEW FEATURE: If either version is used in conjunction with any one of Ziggys mod versions, you will now be able to have the best of both worlds of the minimap and compass. You will now see the minimap in explored parts of the island where you have unlocked the radio towers, however the minimap will not appear in unexplored parts of the island where you have not unlocked the radio towers and instead, the compass used in Ziggys compilation will show up.

NOTE: The mod is still fully compatible with Ziggy's mod. I have tested using the hardcore, regular and casual version of that mod and no known conflicts have occurred. Either version will also work well with FC3 Rebalanced.

To use both, just install my .dll files into the bin folder, and that mod's patch files into the data_win32 folder (both in the FC3 directory).

NON-SOUND FX CHANGES
================
BUG FIXES: Improved compatibility with Ziggy's Mod by a number of bug fixes including the 'fog of war' map glitch and the wallhack glitch.

NEW FEATURE: Added compatibility support for 'Far Cry 3 Rebalanced' by MrPingy in the form of the new version (listed under Optional Files).

NEW FEATURE: Removed the 'fog of war' from the world map so the entire map is now visible from the game start, since Jason retrieves the map of Rook Island when he escapes with Grant. Radio towers still give XP and unlock supply drop missions but no longer reveal hidden parts of the map.

NEW FEATURE: Significantly increased the speed at which the map loads when you open it.

NEW FEATURE: The mod now has two versions: 'Casual' and 'Immersed'.

NON-SOUND FX CHANGES
================
• The mod is now updated to be fully compatible and functional with the latest Official Ubisoft Update Patch 1.05.

This version can be used in combination with Ziggy's Mod. It is not required by any means, but I recommend you do install both (DZiggy's patch files running with my .DLL files - my .DLLs have all but a couple of the changes of his, and more) as I have optimized this version to run with his mod.

==================
SOUND FX CHANGES
==================

• Removed loud 'rustling' sound FX whenever the player crouches (does not change the much more subtle rustle sound FX when the player crouches with SMGs, pistol or sniper rifles).
|>> Hunt down your prey in stealthy silence as the subtle prowler you are Jason!

• Removed the loud 'squeak' zipping sound FX whenever the player stands up from the crouch state (does not change the stand up sound FX with SMGs, pistols and sniper rifles as these are much more subtle).
|>> Warriors don't squeak Jason - you either pounce or you prowl. Hunt down your prey in stealthy silence.

All immersive sound removals from v2.0 are still active in v3.0, and the Removed Object Blinking effect is too.

================
SOUND FX CHANGES
================
• Removed creepy 'dungeon' sound FX whenever the player loots a plant and receives a collectible leaf.
|>> Hear your knife harvesting and slicing off the leaves!

• Removed creepy 'dungeon' sound FX whenever the player loots an animal corpse and receives a collectible crafting item (eg. hide, skin, leather).
|>> Hear your knife butchering your prey and bagging your crafting materials!

• Removed the loud 'oof' stinger sound FX whenever the player dies.
|>> Now you can hear your bones crushing, heart pounding and last gasps as you are falling (from wingsuit or from cliff)/shot (by enemies)/eaten (by animals) to death!

• Removed the 'echo' tap sound FX whenever the player loots an unusable sellable item (eg. spent lighter, cards, shells, dolls head).
|>> Loot your enemies' junk items in stealthy silence!

• Removed fully the detection update and detected sound FX.
|>> No need to manually disable these in-game now!

• Removed log, tutorial and hint popup sound FX.

• Removed the level up reminder sound FX (eg. new skill point).
|>> This does not disable the vanilla level up sound FX which plays when the player levels up.

• Removed binocular hint sound FX.

=======================
NON-SOUND FX CHANGES
=======================
• Removed the 'Reload' prompt/reminder which showed whenever the player has only a few bullets remaining in a magazine.
|>> Pay attention to the low-cartridge sound FX in a firefight!

• Removed wallhack effect with the binoculars/camera.
|>> Experience jungle warfare at its best and maximise your combat immersion by usingyour binoculars/camera the way they were meant to (as a mid-long range scouting and espionage device, as opposed to a one-time use x-ray vision enemy locator!)

• Removed the stand/crouch prompts in certain points in the story.

**v2.0 now includes a DX9 version of Immersive Sounds ("FC3.dll") for those who run DX9 instead of 11. The DX11 version included is "FC3_d3d11.dll" and the DX9 version is "FC3.dll".**

• Removed the annoying 'whoosh' sound FX whenever the player is prompted/in a position to perform a takedown on an enemy
• Removed the annoying sound FX that plays when the player gains XP (eg. killing enemies, performing takedowns)- does not disable the visual XP update, you can change this in the options menu.
• Removed the loud 'gong' sound FX that plays to remind the player of the current objective - does not disable the visual notification of current objective, you can change this in the options menu.

======================
NON-SOUND FX CHANGES
======================
• Removed tom.solo's 'Enhanced Weapon Holster' effect included in v1.0, due to a bug in the single player story when the player cannot equip the recurve bow needed to defeat the Ink Monster (the 'Removed Blinking Objects' effect is left untouched, for added immersion and challenge, but this is just a minor tweak unlike other mods out there).
• As a little extra tweak to speed up your launching of the game by about 3 seconds, I have disabled the annoying Ubisoft intro video when you first launch FC3. There are even reports of this marginally improving performance.

================
SOUND FX CHANGES
================
• Removed loud humming sound FX in the Menu/Map/Weapon Vendor.
• Removed loud 'whoosh' interaction sound FX whenever the player hones in on an interactive object (for example dead bodies, dead animals, vehicles, plants, doors and crates).

======================
NON-SOUND FX CHANGES
======================
• Added 'Enhanced Weapon Holster' effect by Tomsolo for added immersion for exploration.
• Added 'Removed Object Blinking' effect by Tomsolo for added immersion and challenge.

Installation

Just extract (or drag and drop) both .dll files from the archive to your 'bin' folder contained inside your Far Cry 3 main folder and overwrite when prompted (backup your original first though, as always!) - for most people and Steam users in particular, this will be something like C:Program Files (x86)SteamSteamAppscommonFar Cry 3.
