Description:
There are some game items that are unique in nature (named) or quest related, but somehow the game allows you to scrap them, in some cases making their quests impossible to complete. This is particularly annoying if you are using a mod that helps you automatically scrap things like Junk to Components (which I like using), so you can accidentally scrap these items in any workbench without realizing you're potentially breaking a quest. Some of these items are also kind of unique in nature and for those that want to collect unusual items it's kind of nice holding on to them instead of scrapping them for components which honestly can be found everywhere, I would much rather keep these unique items, so I made this mod.
I saw Hey Thats Not Junk mod but while that mod is a bit modular I think it also goes a bit beyond the original scope it had, and I've also found a few more mods I've listed below in the 'Compatibility' section that prevent you from scrapping some of these unique - quest items but not all, so I decided to make this mod in order to have all of these items in one place, while also having it be ESL flagged.
These are the items I have made non-scrappable:
- Anchorage Veteran's Flag
- Annika's Locket
- Arlen's Giddyup Buttercup Toy Parts (I renamed this one to add Arlen's name, previously just "Giddyup Buttercup Toy Parts")
- Championship Bowling Ball
- Championship Bowling Pin
- Charge Card (while this isn't a unique, named or quest item, it can be used for unique dialogue options according to the wiki)
- Derby-Winning Toy Car
- Distress Pulser
- Gilded Grasshopper
- HalluciGen Gas Canister
- MacCready's Wooden Soldier Toy (forwarded UFO4P fix that changes 'Solider' to 'Soldier', but I also added MacCready's name to the item)
- Reporter's Camera
- Reporter's Pen
- Reporter's Pencil
- Shem Drowne's Skull
- Knight Varham's Holotag
- Scribe Faris' Holotag
- Paladin Brandis' Holotag
- Initiate Clarke's Holotag
- Knight Rylan's Holotag
- Danse's Holotags
IMPORTANT: I've essentially removed the components from these items, so you won't be able to scrap them after installing this mod, even if you drop them from your inventory and try to do it manually through the workshop interface. As a side bonus, since they no longer have components they are also no longer sorted under the JUNK tab in your PipBoy and are instead placed in your MISC tab.
Installation:
- Install using your mod manager of choice.
- ESP flagged as ESL (doesn't count towards your ESP max limit).
- Load order shouldn't matter much as long as it's loaded after UFO4P (if scrapping these items accidentally worries you, then load it late in your load order to make sure other mods don't overwrite the changes)
Compatibility:
- Should be compatible with anything that doesn't directly edit those items listed above.
- Not compatible with Hey Thats Not Junk, Arlen's Toy Parts Aren't Scrap, Danse's Holotags Are Not Scrap, MacCready's Toy Soldier Is Not Scrap: my mod essentially covers what these mods do (there are some other items that Hey Thats Not Junk covers, but I consider those beyond the scope of my mod).
