About this mod

Hangman's Alley Outpost, or "Fort Halley," is a modestly sized outpost built to be FPS friendly amid the demands of Downtown Boston, with the intended goal of achieving a noir look and feel. At level 0 the outpost is designed to support 15 soldiers, and grows to support up to 24 at level 3.

I like my FPS like I like my milkshakes- smooth and plentiful, but downtown Boston likes to steal my FPS and drink it, so I tried to keep the outpost’s population small and manageable (as in FPS friendly). But as with all things Bethesda related, your individual results may vary.

*Images without added graphics, EMB, or editing can be found in the image section of the mod page. Night shots usually aren't that helpful for conveying what a settlement actually looks like, but playing around with night lighting is fun, so i did throw in a few night pics (sorry/not sorry).

At level 0 the outpost is designed to support 15 soldiers, and grows to support up to 24 at level 3.

At level 3 the outpost contains:

  • 8 Martial Plots
  • 4 Municipal Plots
  • 3 Recreational Plots
  • Enough beds for 24 soldiers

A barracks area for housing soldiers is located above the settlement workbench, while the nearby command center holds a communications plot, along with the city and war planner’s desks.

Both the recruitment office and VR military training simulator make use of advanced Enclave technologies left over from the war. Nearby, a jail cell reminds recruits that, in the Army, rules are more than just polite suggestions.

The field hospital houses both a surgical center and a recovery area for patient treatment. The nearby power plant makes clever use of recovered Red Rocket fueling pumps that have been retrofitted to provide power.

A detective's office (martial plot) will put a settler or soldier to work as a noir detective. Next door, a taphouse pub provides a place for people to relax with a stiff drink or a cup of coffee when off duty, and includes a decorative moonshine margarita machine near the bar.

I made this outpost as a contest entry in the Sim Settlements 2, January 2024 building contest, so I made sure to add all the plots and items needed, which include:

  • Beacon
  • City Planners Desk
  • Communications (Municipal) plot
  • Caravan Services (Municipal) plot
  • Watchtower (Martial) plot
  • Armory (Martial) plot

*The Sim Settlements 2 city plan contest limits build budgets to under 2x the original build limit, which ensures most plans can play well on most systems. This means initially you’ll need to use the red settlement workbench to increase your build limit by 100%, raising the limit to twice the vanilla budget in order for everything to build properly.

Required Mods:
Sim Settlements 2 - Chapter 3
Wasteland Venturers

Support Structures of the Wasteland
From Sanctuary to Concord
Caravan Snatex
Jampads 2
Apocalyptic Additions

SS2 Superstructures

Mod Requirement Note:
The Shamrock Taphouse next to the detective's office has the "One More Cup of Coffee" (Interior - Endurance) plot from Jampads 2. While it does require the CC Slocum Joe's Workshop, if you don't have it I assume another endurance plot will build in its place instead, which is why I just consider it a "soft requirement." If you have it, great. If not, you can just put something else there. Then again, I'm not the boss of you, so you do you :)
