No longer will you risk having neck pain simply due to looking at the loading screen.

Face it. This thing's going to be right up in there. It's a good thing.

You can customize the elements on the loading screen to your liking.
Keep the good elements and throw out the bad ones!

Are you more knowledgeable than the Vault Dweller's Survival Guide?

Love the loading icon and    only the loading icon?

Wish the loading icon was also destroyed in the year 2077 by nuclear fire?

Self-conscious?

Unself-conscious?

Feeling abysmal?

This new centered look will disable the loading models by default.

While this is highly recommended you can choose to leave these enabled.
In the details below you can read more about the reason that loading models are hidden.

Details

The original VR loading screen is very much a straightforward copy of the pancake version. The loading screen elements are all off to the side as loading starts. I always found this profoundly annoying. The thought struck me that it might be possible to center pretty much everything so that it always starts in front of your face as loading occurs. To my satisfaction it was fully possible and I think it turned out great.

From there I decided to make the appearance customizable. There are a total of 16 combinations possible. The installer can present these combinations visually with representations of how it will look in-game or alternatively via a checklist where the user can chose precisely what should be visible.

Only real problem left was the loading screen models. The reason for this is that they do not work well with this new centered and more focused loading screen. The loading screen elements now roughly occupies the same position in space and at worst will intersect. Fortunately I found an easy way to turn off loading screen models via an INI setting. This mod includes information on how to set the necessary setting yourself as well as an optional ESP file which loads an INI file containing the setting. That being said, it would also be possible to use this mod together with a minimal or even the abysmal combination (void of loading elements) and leave the loading models enabled, should you want to see only loading models and nothing else. Feel free to experiment and write in the comments if you find a particularly useful combination!

I would highly recommend using Quieter Load Screens by Succourer alongside this mod. A simple and unintrusive mod that disables the clickity-click sounds that happens when you rotate the loading models. This is particularly appropriate when loading models are hidden.

Note that I specifically chose to completely remove the catalogue ID for VDSG (Vault Dweller's Survival Guide) entries in all loading screen combinations, that little heading that sits above the VDSG entry. The reason for this is that the ID was hard to position and the overall appearance is cleaner without it.

A bonus feature was added to the mod which disables the pancake legacy fader. Don't worry, the VR view still fades from loading screen to the world. This is a leftover; a black loading rectangle that appears on part of the desktop view when loading completes. Here's what I mean by this fader:
I hope that you enjoy the mod! Let me know if you have any ideas for further combinations or enhancements that you'd like to see.

Known Incompatibilities

While unlikely it is currently unknown if there are incompatibilities with languages other than English.
Please let me know if you encounter these or other incompatibilities.

Known Issues or Bugs

  • Levels below 10 will appear off-center, while levels after 10 will appear centered as intended. Unfortunately I have not found a way to make it always consistently in the center, so the trade-off I chose was to make levels 10-99 as centered as possible.

Please report any bugs or requests for improvements on the nexus mods page using either the bug report feature or the comments section. Thank you!
