About this mod

Replaces the T-45 found on the roof of the Concord Museum with a "Broken T-45". The Broken T-45 has the same stats as a normal T-45, but cannot be repaired or modified. However, unlike other power armour, it can be scrapped.

Introduction
I liked the first fight in power armor against a deathclaw, during the When Freedom Calls quest, but I also didn't like how the game just hands you a free suit of power armor from the get-go. This mod offers a workaround where you still get a full suit for the fight, but the suit is rendered obsolete for the rest of the game.

The intended idea for this mod is to make other mods that reduces and scatters power armor pieces found throughout the commonwealth, such as Some Assembly Required by ProgmanX, integrate more seamlessly with the main quest.

What it Does
The T-45 set found on the roof of the Museum of Freedom, in Concord, gets replaced by a new set, called the "Broken T-45", which:
  • Has the same stats as a normal T-45
  • Cannot be repaired
  • Cannot be upgraded and only comes in "Model A" lining
  • Cannot be given material/paint or misc attachments
  • CAN be scrapped for some resources (see the screenshots) or sold at a price lower than normal T-45 pieces

This means that the T-45 you get during the When Freedom Calls quest is now rendered obsolete in the long run, but still functional for that one encounter. Once the quest is over, the pieces probably don't have much durability left and you're encouraged to scrap or sell it. Otherwise when it's durability is depleted, it's pretty much useless. It's a one-time-use power armor set and your first functional power armor will thus need to be found somewhere else. No more free power armor from the beginning of the game.

Downloadable Files
  • Broken T-45
This is the standard version and does exactly what is described above. No Requirements.

  • Broken T-45 SAR
Compatible version for Some Assembly Required. With the two mods combined, as before, you now get a Broken T-45 set, but it's only useful for a short while. After that you need to assemble a new set, just like Some Assembly Required intends. Moreover, you no longer get a free torso piece and need to find one elsewhere. Use either this version or the standard version, not both.

Things to Note
  • In case you don't know already, armor can be scrapped by dropping the pieces on the floor in a settlement. Then scrap them via the workshop menu.
  • The power armor frame is still fine
  • The pieces have the same health as the vanilla pieces.
  • Please, no puns on "this mod is broken" ;)

Compatibility
Should be compatible with any mod that doesn't alter the particular instance of PA spawned on the Museum of Freedom rooftop.
