I've spent many, many hours trying to remove all makeup (specifically lipstick) from settlers. Removing the appropriate "layers" should have worked. But... It seems as though some female facial textures make it appear that they have on lipstick when they actually DO NOT! Which would mean the actual textures would have to be edited. (Way beyond my skills!) Is this a fact?! Or is there something I'm missing? If you can offer any assistance, please let me know. I'd like to upload my mod here that removes all Face Details, Face Paint, Damage, Markings, Blemishes, Grime, and Face Tattoos (which includes makeup!), but I first want to make sure there isn't something I'm missing and have people complaining to me that female settlers are still wearing lipstick.
Also, thank you to everyone that has enjoyed this mod and endorsed it, or even just given it a chance! I love seeing those endorsement and download numbers go up!
Update: Author Veter75n confirmed that some base textures include what looks like lipstick. So removing all of the makeup/lipstick face tinting layers would not remove it. It would take actually editing the texture itself, and I'm not an artist. So that'll never happen from me. But I might upload it anyway to see if people can get over it enough to enjoy it. Thinking about doing a version that removes dirt & grime from all NPCs' faces. No promises, though. It sounds like extremely monotonous work! lol
Thanks for keeping this available. I can confirm that this works with the NG update on PC. The only other mods I use that touch NPC's in any way are WATM and CBBE. I haven't noticed any issues other than the brown face bug, which honestly has been around since launch and never resolved (can we just call it a "feature" at this point?).
Firstly tanks for the mod! For me it works and my Settlers now are clean and not looking like face rolled in the mud with their beautiful nude 4k bodies. And that in 2024 with NextGen! Hurray!
BUT A QUESTION:
To avoid mods like this (hardcore deleting rusty/grime faces at each startup I guess), is there a way to replace the dusty/rusty/grime facemaps for the settlers in the FO4-gamefiles (like "Fallout4 - Textures1.ba2") with the clean facemaps by myself - or to point to them instead? E. g. by using FO4Edit or something like that? I can't find a tutorial for this. Anybody has a Tipp?
I’m sure if you unpacked the ba2 files, you could use some kind of editing software to edit each individual texture related to their faces. It’ll take much more than FO4Edit. Maybe look up tutorials on how to edit Fallout 4 textures, or even Skyrim textures as the process may be similar.
I doubt anyone will read this . I like things to be nice and clean too. I''m an artist, so I may know something about compliments and how they can affect creativity. I very much enjoy your mods . Keep up the strange and bizarrely saturated shiny work . I have spent several years now scouring the nexus . I would like to share some rare gems with others that would use and enjoy your mods . Architex , yep its old its german and it looks a little plasticy but stay with me here . Architex changes all the building textures so it saves you dozens of gigs of texture mod space and improves performance and load times . Combine it with 2 build mods . 1 : MDE2506's mostly colorful and modular hotchpoch and other stuff . Great mod so well organized and easy to use ( too bad all that great work got such a horrid and ridiculous title . architex and hotch potch together will give you clean white new damage free walls windows etc. then of course snappy but there is a pimp mod with floors and foundations and HZY for rare classy furniture . Von helton's stuff also looks ok but the sizes are wonky . with those 5 or six mods you can give your treasures their proper home and not die of tetanus or hypothermia . please enjoy and all of you are welcome
Brown faces are due to using different textures for the face. Like 4k skin + 2k makeup or scars. Things like that.
but who knows. This mod is super old and edits entries that will conflict with just about anything, unless it’s the only mod you use that does anything with any NPCs.
The 'brown faces' is actually a vanilla game bug caused by reloading certain saves (Example quick save). The only solution to it is to exit the game to the main menu and then reload the exit save.
Never heard that one before. As far as I know, what I said is 100% correct about clashing texture resolutions. I never got it in FO4 until I tried combing different head skin mods. Back when I played, that's what everyone said the cause was. But... 🤷♀️
I would love to get this mod working but for the life of me no idea how ? installed with Vortex. no conflicts using the version no DLC as I have only the base game but it simply does not work. the faces still have so much grime i sometimes think they fell over in a Brahmin cow pak. I do have several mods installed but none to revamp NPCs. If anyone else had it fail to work but discovered a way to fix things please let me know
Only thing I can suggest is loading it before everything else. This will conflict with tons of different mods. If you’re not proficient with FO4Edit to check and merge conflicts, I wouldn’t recommend using this mod, unfortunately. I made it a super long time ago. It would be better done using textures or nifs or some such rather than the way I did it with this.
Any reason why this cause CTDS? I was looking for a bad mod conflict and through long and hard investigation (disabling mods and then going ingame to see if it was okay to load.) Is there any supposed mod conflicts?
I imagine anything that edits records can cause crashes. (This edits records through FO4Edit rather than use textures.) Especially if there’s a conflict. I don’t play Fallout 4 anymore, so I have no real way to assist you. Sorry. If you think this mod is giving you crashes, please don’t use it. Not worth the headache, honestly.
I have CTD issues too, on save load, sometimes fast travel or existing a building. Tracked it down to here. I used to use Better Settlers and that one would do the exact same thing once the settler count increased. Switched to this, and same behavior, showing up occasionally once the settler count gets around 15 or so, and by the time it's 25 it is happening enough to ruin gameplay. Can load a save made elsewhere first, and then load the crashing one and it'll usually load then. Which was exact same behavior with the Better Settlers.
Disappointing. Appreciate the mod creator's efforts. I hate that people with access to water look like they've been rolling in the dirt.

That’s why I’ve labeled it “obsolete”.
If anybody know one for every character in the game like this one please let me know
Thanks a lot for this mod btw, great job!
If you want things to make more sense = Clean Water of the Commonwealth
(Make sure this last one is placed after NAC-X in your load order)
