If you can't find the answer you're looking for here or on the description page, leave a comment and I'll be glad to help if I can. I do have a full time job I get payed for and an unpaid full time job playing nanny to my granddaughters so you'll need to be patient for a response (unless you're willing to cough up for paid support). I try to peek in on the mod at least weekly but sometimes life doesn't let that happen.
Answers are in spoiler tags to make it easier to find what you're looking for. Unless otherwise noted, version 5 is assumed as I'm not offering support for older versions. In no particular order:
Updating the mod?
If you're updating from version 2 to any other version:
Scripts\Fragments\TopicInfos\
Sound\FX\MUS\Radio\DiamondCity\
- Install the new version and reset the radio quest as noted in "Is it safe to install/update mid-game?" below.
If you're updating from version 4 to version 5:
- Drop the new files into your data directory, overwriting any old files, and reset the radio quest as noted in "Is it safe to install/update mid-game?" below.
If you're updating post version 5:
If, for whatever reason (no judgement), you're downgrading from either version 4 or 5 to version 2:
- Remove the "DCRE" folder from the Sound folder.
- Install Version 2 and reset the radio quest as noted in "Is it safe to install/update mid-game?" below.
If you're downgrading from version 5 to 4:
The mod doesn't work!
- You have the proper INI settings.
- It was installed correctly, including restarting the radio quest if you installed mid-game (see "Is it safe to install/update mid-game?" below).
- It's not conflicting with one of your 300 other mods.
- Your sound is on.
Is it safe to install/update mid-game?
stopquest radiodiamondcity
startquest radiodiamondcity
Why? Because the quest is already running (it starts on game creation) and, oddly enough, the game doesn't like it when a quest script is modified while said quest is running.
If using the latest version, this should only have to be done once after which a version check in the script will take care of it on any future updates.
Do I need Diamond City Radio Extended - Fix Radio?
Will this conflict with _?
- breaking Travis's intros/outros (or outright removing them)
- possible song repetition (the most popular of those mods contain a lot of the same tracks)
- fluctuating volume levels (I have no control over the volume level of tracks added by another mod)
Known mods that would conflict in these ways:
- Elvani's Track Pack for Diamond City Radio
- Radio Enhanced - More Radio Songs
- Diamond City Christmas Radio
- Diamond City Christmas Radio replacement (DCR version)
- Copyright Free Diamond City Radio Replacer for Let's Plays and Streams
- Diamond City Radio - Song Replacement
- Fallout 3 songs replaced
- Crooners and Big Band Songs
- Diamond City Radio Music Replacer - Old School Fallout and Wasteland Scores
- Nathan Whitey Diamond City Radio Replacer
- Diamond City Radio - No More Butcher Pete Part I and II
- No magnolia Songs
Other than that, I don't know. Some mods do some wonky sh!t (including past versions of this one) and mods that you would never expect to conflict do exactly that. If any specific conflicts are brought to my attention, I'll list them here.
The tracks are too loud/quiet.
If you're having this problem, the only things I can suggest are using an equalizer or renormalizing them yourself to a level that works for you.
Travis is too loud/quiet.
Can I add/remove/replace tracks?
Because of the hard coded number mentioned above, removing tracks is a bit messier. Theoretically the mod will still run fine but papyrus will be throwing errors trying to find the missing tracks. While most papyrus errors I've encountered pass silently, I have no idea how it'll behave if you strip half the songs without editing/recompiling the script.
You can replace any track you want so long as the new track is named the same as the old one OR you're comfortable using FO4Edit or the Creation Kit to edit the file path in the SNDR record for the track. The script neither knows nor cares what track #153 is, it's just going to play it when its number is up. And unlike a lot of radio mods, each track is named so it should be easy to find the one(s) you want to replace.
If there's enough interest in making the ESP/script edits AND I can find the time to do so, I'll write up a little how-to in a different article and link it here.
If you're installing manually.
2. Add the following to the bottom of your Fallout4Custom.ini if it's not already there:
[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=
3. Enable the mod.
4. If installed on an existing save, see "Is it safe to install/update mid-game?" above.
If you're uninstalling manually.

Even installed the fix and manually console command
- Crafted at the chem station. It's a very simple holotape and I've made no attempt so far to make it immersive or anything. The following settings are off by default.
