If you can't find the answer you're looking for here or on the description page, leave a comment and I'll be glad to help if I can. I do have a full time job I get payed for and an unpaid full time job playing nanny to my granddaughters so you'll need to be patient for a response (unless you're willing to cough up for paid support). I try to peek in on the mod at least weekly but sometimes life doesn't let that happen.

Answers are in spoiler tags to make it easier to find what you're looking for. Unless otherwise noted, version 5 is assumed as I'm not offering support for older versions. In no particular order:

Updating the mod?

Spoiler:
Show
I don't use mod managers and I have no idea how they work, so I don't know if any of this is necessary when working with them. But if, like me, you like doing sh!t the hard way:

If you're updating from version 2 to any other version:
Spoiler:
Show
- Remove any and all files in the paths below that start with "DCRE_" or "TIF_RadioDiamondCity_".
        Scripts\Fragments\TopicInfos\
        Sound\FX\MUS\Radio\DiamondCity\
- Install the new version and reset the radio quest as noted in "Is it safe to install/update mid-game?" below.

If you're updating from version 4 to version 5:
Spoiler:
Show
- Delete the "DCRE" folder in your Scripts directory
- Drop the new files into your data directory, overwriting any old files, and reset the radio quest as noted in "Is it safe to install/update mid-game?" below.

If you're updating post version 5:
Spoiler:
Show
- Nothing to do here - the script takes care of it itself.

If, for whatever reason (no judgement), you're downgrading from either version 4 or 5 to version 2:
Spoiler:
Show
- Remove the "RadioDiamondCityQuestScript" overwrite and the "DCRE" folder from the Scripts folder.
- Remove the "DCRE" folder from the Sound folder.
- Install Version 2 and reset the radio quest as noted in "Is it safe to install/update mid-game?" below.

If you're downgrading from version 5 to 4:
Spoiler:
Show
- Follow the directions for updating from version 4 to 5 above.

The mod doesn't work!
Spoiler:
Show
Yes, it does. It may not be working for you, but it does indeed work. If that's the case, make sure:
- You have the proper INI settings.
- It was installed correctly, including restarting the radio quest if you installed mid-game (see "Is it safe to install/update mid-game?" below).
- It's not conflicting with one of your 300 other mods.
- Your sound is on.

Is it safe to install/update mid-game?
Spoiler:
Show
Yes. But you'll need to reset the radio quest by entering the following in the console:
     stopquest radiodiamondcity
     startquest radiodiamondcity
Why? Because the quest is already running (it starts on game creation) and, oddly enough, the game doesn't like it when a quest script is modified while said quest is running.
If using the latest version, this should only have to be done once after which a version check in the script will take care of it on any future updates.

Do I need Diamond City Radio Extended - Fix Radio?
Spoiler:
Show
That mod was never needed. It was useful for some and might still be useful for you. Essentially, it does exactly what's listed under "Is it safe to install/update mid-game?" above via a one-off quest.

Will this conflict with _?
Spoiler:
Show
Any mod that modifies Diamond City Radio will likely conflict with this one. Probable issues include:
- breaking Travis's intros/outros (or outright removing them)
- possible song repetition (the most popular of those mods contain a lot of the same tracks)
- fluctuating volume levels (I have no control over the volume level of tracks added by another mod)

Known mods that would conflict in these ways:

Other than that, I don't know. Some mods do some wonky sh!t (including past versions of this one) and mods that you would never expect to conflict do exactly that. If any specific conflicts are brought to my attention, I'll list them here.

The tracks are too loud/quiet.
Spoiler:
Show
Everybody's gaming environment is different. With the myriad of differences between individual PC settings, speaker quality, external applications, possibly conflicting mods, etc., there is no way I can get the volume perfect for everyone. The songs are normalized for loudness so they all have the same average loudness and are as close to vanilla as I can get with my setup.

If you're having this problem, the only things I can suggest are using an equalizer or renormalizing them yourself to a level that works for you.

Travis is too loud/quiet.
Spoiler:
Show
It's not this mod. This mod doesn't edit any of Travis's sound files. May be a conflict elsewhere.

Can I add/remove/replace tracks?
Spoiler:
Show
You can, in theory, add as many tracks as you like provided you're comfortable making the edits in FO4Edit or the Creation Kit. But there's a caveat. The number of tracks being shuffled is hard coded so, unless you're also comfortable editing/compiling papyrus scripts, you won't hear every track on a "run" before reshuffling occurs.

Because of the hard coded number mentioned above, removing tracks is a bit messier. Theoretically the mod will still run fine but papyrus will be throwing errors trying to find the missing tracks. While most papyrus errors I've encountered pass silently, I have no idea how it'll behave if you strip half the songs without editing/recompiling the script.

You can replace any track you want so long as the new track is named the same as the old one OR you're comfortable using FO4Edit or the Creation Kit to edit the file path in the SNDR record for the track. The script neither knows nor cares what track #153 is, it's just going to play it when its number is up. And unlike a lot of radio mods, each track is named so it should be easy to find the one(s) you want to replace.

If there's enough interest in making the ESP/script edits AND I can find the time to do so, I'll write up a little how-to in a different article and link it here.

If you're installing manually.
Spoiler:
Show
1. Move the unzipped files (DCRE.esp, Scripts, Sound) into your Data directory.
2. Add the following to the bottom of your Fallout4Custom.ini if it's not already there:
   [Archive]
   bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
   sResourceDataDirsFinal=
3. Enable the mod.
4. If installed on an existing save, see "Is it safe to install/update mid-game?" above.

If you're uninstalling manually.
Spoiler:
Show
Simply remove the "RadioDiamondCityQuestScript" overwrite and the "DCRE" folder from the Scripts and Sound folders and reset the radio quest as noted in "Is it safe to install/update mid-game?" above.

I have the mod installed and I'm about 5 hours in playing with it but the radio still only seems to paly the vanilla songs. I also don't have the holotape in my inventory.

      OPTIONAL SETTINGS HOLOTAPE
       - Crafted at the chem station. It's a very simple holotape and I've made no attempt so far to make it immersive or anything. The following settings are off by default.

I too was confused. but u just need to craft it.

Installed using NMM. Doesn't seem to acknowledge completion of 'TRAVIS QUEST'. (He still sounds like a dork!)
