About this mod

A lore friendly Diamond City Radio replacer that substitutes cover songs and lore appropriate public domain tracks to avoid YouTube's content ID system for doing let's plays and streams.

Do you make let's plays, machinima, or streams of Fallout 4?  Are you tired of having to choose between monetizing your video and having Diamond City Radio playing?  If you're like me, the answer is yes!

From my experience making let's plays of Fallout 3 and New Vegas, I was frustrated with having to choose between getting copyright strikes on my videos, and not having them be able to be monetized or be able to play in Germany and in other countries if I left GNR or Radio New Vegas on.  Especially as someone doing a narrative story driven lets play, not being able to have the radio on to hear Three Dog or Mr New Vegas' news updates was frustrating.  I even made a fourth wall breaking joke about running around turning radios off to avoid copyright strikes.  So I knew that going into my upcoming Fallout 4 let's play, The Misadventures of Solomon in the Commonwealth Wasteland, I was gonna need a mod to fix it. I had assumed that someone else would make one, but since they haven't, I took matters into my own hands.

I have replaced all 38 tracks from Diamond City Radio.  I initially hoped to replace them all with cover versions of the originals from small artists from YouTube, but this turned out to be a tall order.  As of my initial release, I have 13 cover tracks that I have permission to use, and have feelers out for about 5 more that I haven't heard back from yet.  If you want to get a listen to them, check the links down in the credits.  The rest of the tracks are replaced with a mix of radio commercials, public service announcements, and anti communist propaganda from the 40s-60s, as well as some public domain jazz songs.  Now includes some DJ bumpers voiced by me in the character of Solomon from my series!  Now comes in two versions, a completely lore friendly version with no songs not known to exist in the Fallout canon, and the main version that has some songs I personally think would be lore friendly but others may disagree.  All tested on YouTube, they do not trigger content ID yet, though I will warn you that sometimes it takes YouTube a while to flag something.  One song in the initial release got flagged a few days after I tested it, so use with that caveat in mind.  I will attempt to replace any song that gets flagged with another.  I do not personally use Twitch, but if its anything like YouTube, should be good for there too.

I am still interested in updating this track list with more covers, so anyone who would be interested in doing a cover of one of the songs not already included, or knows someone who would be, feel free to get in touch, here, or on my YouTube channel GreatPirateSolomon, my Facebook page The Misadventures of Solomon, or Twitter @GPSolomon.

Finally, if you'd like to see what I will be using this for, below is my series, the Misadventures of Solomon in the Commonwealth Wasteland.  You can also catch up on the previous few seasons of my series, set in earlier Bethesda games (Oblivion, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, and Skyrim, don't judge me by the Oblivion episodes, I was still new to making videos).  Also below is my Fallout 4 lore/real life history edutainment spin off series, The Wanderer's Guide to the Wasteland.  As someone who lives in Boston, it was too good an opportunity to pass up, I mix up real life and gameplay footage.
