Respects the fidelity of the original tracks, but with new life breathed into them. That tavern song slaps something silly. 10/10 would loiter at the bar again.
I'm a big fan of these remixes and would like to use them in a profile for Dynamic Music mod, so I humbly ask for your permission to proceed. The profile I want to make would be a mix of Environmental Ambience and your tavern music. Thank you for your work.
You have my consent and blessing, However I did not create these works. I simply collected them and then theicedevil reprocessed and normalized them to make them better. So, there is that. Seek all the permission you wish from everyone involved or just do it.
I can't be sure, but my understanding is that Daggerfall XL started first and was abandoned. I got the impression that Daggerfall Unity started later, but I don't know if it was after XL was abandoned. I also didn't think they were related in any way... But all of this comes down to when I found them and my own impressions of them. Like I said, I can't be sure this is how it went. I'm curious why you think DFU came first and DFXL was an off-shoot.
I did a little digging. A wiki says DaggerXL was in development starting in 2009. DFU creator has a timeline, wherein he details his long-term Daggerfall work, some of which I didn't try too hard to understand, but I didn't get the impression it had any relation at all to DFXL. He started DFU in 2014, again with no mention of DFXL. https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Tes2Mod:DaggerXL https://www.dfworkshop.net/contact/about/ Now, excuse me, while I denounce you as a liar and traitor to all mankind for your dastardly deception. I expect to address the UN later this week.
I have removed any and all correlation from Daggerfall Unity and DaggerFall XL on the description page. I took it upon myself to start a Non-Profit. As well as form an organization aptly named "The Mythraen Truth Institute for wayward women" in hopes to right all the wrongs I have done and maybe give back to the people and families for the lives I've destroyed.
It comes down to personal taste. Their are a number of other enhanced music mods on here now. Experiment and find the one you like the most. Have you checked out "Orchestral and Acoustic Remaster of Daggerfall Soundtrack"? This one I like a lot and should more up your alley.
The music is excellent. A true remastering of the original music. However there are two problems. First problem is that it seems one of the file names is misspelled which means that it will not be played. "song_sneaking2.ogg" should be spelled "song_sneakng2" You need to remove the "i", This is how it is the vanilla MIDI file is spelled.
The other problem is the music is very loud. It is about 8 to 9 decibels louder than standard vanilla MIDI volume. I had to edit them in my music editor and then transcode them back into OGG to get the music down to tolerable levels. BTW, I already know that there is music volume slider in the launcher/pause menu. However, I had to turn the level down from the max volume of 1.0 to 0.2 which leaves no room to tweak the volume. it's either 50% of vanilla levels at 0.1 or completely turned off at 0.0.So I thought I would point this out and hope that you could upload a version that turns the volume down. Minus 8 decibels is good. It's still plays loud and clear at Max volume and give room for people to tweak the music levels to their liking.
I was hoping you could upload it and I could download it from you :) or I can see about giving you access to upload it to this page. ***edit*** you have access to admin this mod. Put your name somewhere and take some credit. looking forward to try it out.
Do you have access to the originals, preferably uncompressed versions? I hate to upload these since these are transcoded from an already lossy sources. Uncompressed version would mean there will be no additional sound quality loss.
At first I was comparing the loudness to JohnBeavers's "Vanilla MIDI OST - Music on a Roland SC55" and also the original MIDI files. But then I discoverd ByteMixer's "Daggerfall Remastered Music Project" which is the music that is included in D.R.E.A.M. so now all the Normalizations are based on those, and it made it a lot simpler to accomplish. It went from extreme normalization of -8 to -16 db to now mostly -6 db with a few being -2 or -3 db. And since most people are using DREAM, it make the most sense to do it this way.
Sounds really neat, does it cover every single track? Saw this one that does https://www.nexusmods.com/daggerfallunity/mods/11?tab=files but I think I'll prefer this one - still wasn't sure which I should opt for for a complete package, thanks!
No, a few remastered tracks are definitely missing. However if and when those songs are queued it will revert to the Unity sound font MIDI version of that song. So, you won't be missing anything. Those tracks will simply not be as robust as the remastered tracks.
You can also use the "DREAM - Music" pack from the D.R.E.A.M. mod. Cool thing about that mod is it's modular, so if you can't run the textures, you can just disable them or not install them. The music has it's own separate mod archive. I recommend at least installing the music and the sounds pack if nothing else. This mod uses loose files so they should overwrite the ones in dream as long as you have to correct setting turned on in the DU launchers advanced settings . The music in dream includes 36 additional tracks that are not included in this mod. I have also uploaded a Normalized version of these tracks, turning the volume down -6 db to so they play about as loud as the music included in DREAM so nothing will be jarring when track change and you have more freedom with the music volume slider as well.
I love Dan Goodale's work! I've been listening to them for years. I even included some of his songs in a Skyrim mod of mine. this is a definite download and I can't wait to hear them for real in Daggerfall Unity. I'll be back to endorse when I've tried it out!
