I am not a native English speaker and am desperately trying to understand whether “in broad daylight” now means “observed by witnesses”, or “unseen”.

"In broad daylight" is the implication that you're viewable, with no darkness concealing you, and anyone aware can notice--"broad" typically means "wide", or in this case, "full".

Is this (and your "cop killer" mod) compatible with NCPD Prevention Police Enhancement?

This should be compatible. Cop Killer though, perhaps not. (Haven't tried it.)

I am wondering the same thing. Did you end up playing with all three enabled?

I get what you're saying. I do think that there could be a chance occasionally that police just go "nah, don't feel like it", and it could feel appropriate. But not for the crime of public execution. They want to keep a monopoly on that.

NCPD is publicly funded with low wage, where they outsourced most of their job to corposec, so I think it kinda makes sense the police would ignore those crimes, especially when it's civilian. But I agree with Demon9n that they would prioritize their own corps esp the MaxTacs, because they have the largest funding, and it's not a good PR to have crime against MaxTacs go unpunished.

Should, yeah. Patches don't affect every mod.

Might it be possible to distinguish between lethal and non-lethal attacks?

Sometimes the smart targeting focuses on a cop in the background and I don't realize it before pulling the trigger. Tried using a PAX to make it non-lethal, but the hit still gets me in trouble.

Or, and I know this is outside the scope of this mod, would it be possible to somehow have non-aggressive cops not get smart targeted?

I can't answer your questions with any honesty, because I haven't looked at the smart-targeting code. But it's something I'll keep in mind in the future.

Idk if it is because I am using NCPD Prevention Police Enhancement and you do warn about this being a possibility in your description but when I use this mod (and I have used it through two playthroughs now) certain quest enemies cause you to become Wanted when you really shouldn't be.
Uninstalling this mod fixed the issue.

SPOILER WARNING: Taking down one of Anders Hellman's guards when you first meet him face to face causes you to become Wanted and killing Katya (the Bana impersonator from Phantom Liberty) also causes you to become Wanted. It gets super awkward having Hellman's body on Scorpion's bike while robot cops are yelling in my ears.

I uploaded a new version w a check for quest NPC targets. Hopefully it alleviates these problems. Thanks for the report.

Great idea, great mod. Installed it right away, love it!

One thing I was wondering; could add delay for the star(s)? I love the idea of being reported, but it should take at least a few moments - no?

Not in a world where people have cyberware implants checking their vitals. But it will take a minute for the cops to show up. You have time to jet.

Yo, Demon! This is not the place or time for such observations, but such cases should be hard-coded in the game. I'm encouraged that you chose to respond the way you did. Kudos & Best.
