In Cold Blood - NPC Execution Fix
by Demon9ne
Your most flagrant murders are finally acknowledged.
This may take some explaining, so ...
TL;DR: You can kill a helpless opponent in this game, in broad daylight, and police won't come. And IMO that's bad.
... that is essentially what this mod fixes. V is able to shoot a downed opponent and police may just not bother. I don't find this to be particularly fun or realistic in a dystopian futuristic setting, so I decided to fix it. Except I decided to go a step or two beyond giving V a wanted star and calling it a day. You will get multiple stars for killing someone in such a vicious way now, and the amount of stars is determined by who you've executed.
Examples:
- You will get five immediate wanted stars if you kill a defenseless MaxTac officer.
- That helpless Netwatch agent you just domed?--Four stars. Same thing happens if you execute someone from Trauma Team.
- You're going to get three stars for killing law enforcement this way.
- Civilians will net you one or two stars, depending on whether or not they are corporate. Corpos who have packages with Trauma Team (who notice the flatline and alert authorities) are likely to net you two stars, while non-corpo civilians with a basic package (around 5% of NC's population) will net you just one.
- Gangers are zero stars, even if the murder is witnessed. Nobody cares. Welcome to Night City.
If you are already at the wanted level the game is trying to bestow you, your wanted level will instead increase by one.
Because this fix covers every faction/affiliation in the game, I don't know how it might play during quests. The NCPD might come for you at a very inopportune moment. But frankly, you deserve the heat if you do this. Enjoy that, cyberpsycho. (In seriousness though, this mod does check whether you're in a quest area or you've killed a boss/miniboss or quest NPC.)
Addendum
- Executions can still increase your wanted level if they are witnessed.
- If an NPC is missing an affiliation record (which would be a vanilla bug), you may get less stars.
