Patch 7.0.0.0 is here (Old) ATTENTION: Pre-7.0.0.0 saves (Which is BEFORE DE 1.0.0.0) are NOT supported with this update. Please only update if you plan on starting over. New wings! In future I plan to release new wings to further take advantage of this big update.
Old wings are back in fashion! Both the old Protector and Fallen wings are available in Character Creation. The Scourge wings will follow in a later update (Added in 7.2.0.0).
Level 1 Permanent wings or level 10? You decide now, in-game, during Character Creation!
Show wings in the cutscenes? You decide now, in-game, with a toggle button in your Passive pane.
I really appreciate this latest update! I really value this mod <3 🫶 I have two queries: 1) How can I get the wings permanently both at crafting and during gameplay? 2) If I have a save with the previous version of the patch and then install this new version, will I lose my wings? Could I ask why this is happening?
1) There will be a toggle in your passives that you can toggle on to summon your wings/on off if you picked the level 1 option. The toggle will become available at level 10 if you chose that route. (Note that the wings will not show at lvl 1 in CC) 2) It simply doesn't because of how the logic of the mod has been changed extensively to add these new functionalities. So yes, you will lose your wings/have a buggy save if you use the 7.0.0.0 update on a pre-7.0.0.0 save.
How do I choose which wing type I want I can't find it in character creation or using the magic mirror, and after updating to the latest version the wings don't appear when I use my scourge ability. Currently lv. 7 if that matters.
I don't seem able to show the wings in cutscenes. Picked the level 1 wings, and the toggle turns the wings on and off while moving and in combat, but the wings doesn't show up in the cutscenes as I said. I also don't have a separate toggle for the cutscenes or anything, so I'm unsure how you're meant to be able to get them to show up.
Then I can confirm that, that in fact isn't working. It might be because I took the wings at level 1 and the cutscene one isn't build to trigger until level 10 like the wings normally would be? I'm level 2 now, and still no option for it either.
Hmm. I have a sneaking suspicion that the only potential candidate to do that would be the Paladin overhaul as I'm playing a paladin. Other than that, I only have things like 5e Spells and 12-20 level mods that make any actual changes to any type of progression. I'll try to make a new character who isn't a paladin and get back to you in a moment.
Edit: Turns out it wasn't the paladin overhaul either. I'll do some more digging, if for no other reason that so others might be able to get the solution if they run into the same problem as I've done.
Edit 2: Can't seem to figure it out. Any and all mods that affect or use WotD has been confirmed not to be the issue, and WotD is intentionally at the very bottom of the my load order to avoid any other issues otherwise, and any mods below it I've already tried to remove to see if they were the issue. At this point I can only really see 5e Spells or ULC as being the culprit for this heinous crime, as I have no other mods that changes anything related to levels or spell list. Most other mods are QOL stuff or other custom classes that only really rely on either 5e Spells or CF which I doubt is the issue.
Totally fair. No mod author can be expected to make sure their mod works with every other mod under the sun. I'll just have to look around, and try to slowly eliminate what's causing the issue. I'll probably make another comment in case I do find the solution, so that if any others have the conflict they'll know where to start looking at.
Cheers for your quick replies and attempt to help though. Appreciate that a ton!
Edit: It's days like today, where I wish there was an app or a function in MM to scan all your active mods, to see if any of them have an overlap in their files, as to make finding conflicts easier.
Alright. I've now officially uninstalled every mod I have, with the sole exceptions being the "Save in Honour Mode" mod or "Party Limit Begone" mod which I can't and won't play without. So that leaves me to think those are the only two possible reasons why the toggle isn't there. Either that, or I have no idea what else might cause the issue.
That's really weird because I double checked for you today. When I make a new character, they are created with a special toggle that enables/disables wings. Have you tried to make a new character just to test?
Every test have been with a new character specifically to ensure that it wasn't an issue of the old save not getting solved. You have no idea how many Tav campaigns I've had to delete since midday yesterday, haha. It's fine though, I appreciate your willingness to test it for me twice even if we weren't able to find the solution. As you said though, I don't for a minute think the problem was with your mod, at least not after you gave me the first confirmation that it was working just fine for you, and it's definitely related to my mods and files as a whole. If it wanted to get it to work, I would probably realistically have to do a full wipe of the game and all files on my PC, which at the moment isn't very appealing, since I did that the other day when I was trying to solve an issue where all my mods would automatically be moved to in--active mods on launch and clearing out my load order. And it took hours to reinstall the game x3 So for now, I'll have to make do with my wings getting clipped every time I have a cutscene, haha.
I use this particular mod which most other class mods that goes from 13-20 rely on. It's the only mod I really use that has an impact on progression in the game, outside of 5e Spells potentially, if you count that as progression as well.
Important bonus information, is that I also use the new adjusted level curve to make level gains more reasonable compared to using it without it.
So. Ended up doing a windows reset for unrelated reasons to the mod. So now I know with complete knowledge that only the mods in my load order are installed, as well as the save in honor mode and party limits begone which are installed manually and not with MM. No other old unused mod files laying around, getting in the way of this one working.
Still doesn't work though. Which I've come to accept at this point, and I'm fine with not having the wings in the cutscenes. If you really do want to find out what caused it, I'm more than okay with sending my load order, or just a detailed list of which mods I use. Don't feel like you need to do accept that though, it's purely something I brought up since you said it really irked you that it wasn't working. It's no skin off my nose if you don't have the time, or just don't want to spend the time, trying to figure out what the problem is. I do seem to be a minority in not being able to use it in the CSs, so I doubt it's really a big enough problem for you to try and fix it unless it's something you really want to do outside of just making it work for me alone.
I absolutely love this mod. I picked the Bound Wings in character select, yet my character has Protector Wings. Is there a place later in the game to pick up the other wings? Having them as equipped items is a really cool idea!
I totally love this mod! I never saw this post about the update and have lost my wings as I updated my mods just as standard practice after not playing for a while. I used the advanced Tav custom mod thing to rescult my character and pick the option to have the wings etc. However, I can't get the wings when I use the ability nor the ability to fly.
Is there any way around this as I am a huge amount of hours into this playthrough? it was going to be my first completed playthrough.
Luckily, I will release a new version requiring Script Extender today or tomorrow. This version is rebuilt from the ground up with compatibility in mind! It should set you right.
I have the same problem as Alliebutt, I don't have two toggles for the wings when I picked up lvl 1 wings. I tried removing other mods since I didn't have many intalled yet and made new aasimar and its still the same. I miss the toggle wings during cutscene button :/
Hiya! So I reaaaallly loved your mod when I was able to use it last!!! I took a long break and came back. I reinstalled some mods. I noticed that I have no wings? I started a new save with wings at lvl 1, and they aren't showing up in game. I know they don't in character creation, but idk why they aren't now. I'm on the Nautloid still, not sure if that's why??? Will update when I'm off! PS: I fiddled around with it for hours while still on the Nautiloid, re-making my character, changing the load order, etc. Still no change.
EDIT: I'm silly, I just realized I don't have a MACOS so I downloaded the script extender version and it fixed it!
Did you ever figure this out? I am having the same problem rn. The wings are not in character creation or even in game after I created a character with wings at lvl 1.
Hi! I have issues with the faces of faerun mod, it just won't cooperate, I have the fix mod for it from here but the best I get is 'not found' showing in character creation and when you select it you get an empty head
I was having an issue where wings weren't showing up in cutscenes/dialogues but it turns out the toggle ability breaks slightly when you level up while having wings equipped. So re-leveling with Withers and NOT having the wings equipped while you level fixed the issue for me.
I suggest switching to it if you're not on MacOS. It's been recoded with compatibility in mind and all sorts of other bonuses and advantages both for me as an author and you as a user. Find my article (here).
I unfortunately have not had time to check but does anyone know if this works with the new subclass animations? I am seeing other race mods all need updated for Patch 8 because of them.
Thank you so much for this mod! I know it's early yet, as Patch 8 only just dropped, but it seems like you can't level up properly anymore. I had respec'd my main that is an Aasimar (to a core class/subclass), since I was using the Hexblade mod, and that's no longer needed as it's added with Patch 8, but when I went to respect to start over, it still said changes pending even though there aren't any. I tried some of my other characters like Karlach and Shadowheart, and they were able to respec and level up as normal. Hoping this can be fixed!
Having the exact same issue, but with glamour bard. I'd been using a modded subclass for it, but now that it's been added to the base game I'd like to use the official one.
But like the above poster, I'm unable to respec my tav, as the respec screen shows "changes pending," making it unable to continue. I've tried doing it with the glamour subclass both enabled and disabled, but same result. The rest of my mods are cosmetic, but even with all of them disabled as well, I have the same problem. The only mod I'm unable to disable is the WOTD Aasimar mod, as understandably trying to load the game without a race causes a crash. So as far as I can tell, it's this mod that is causing the issue.
Okay I actually found a slight workaround, but only for subclasses/features that are selected after level 1.
It does seem that patch 8 is specifically what broke this, as I downloaded the patch 7 beta and attempted the respec there. On the respec screen in patch 7, it shows all of the race features available for selection, which was not visible in patch 8. I'm guessing these are the features that patch 8 is counting as unselected, and thus locks continuing.
So the workaround is to open the save in the patch 7 beta and respec to level 1 of the chosen class. Save, and quit the game, then reinstall the current patch 8 version. Once you open the save again, you'll be able to level up into the new subclass.
Unfortunately, I'm assuming this won't work with any class that requires selecting a subclass at level 1, as it won't be available to select in the patch 7 respec.
I don't know if this is an issue for the mod creator to solve, or if it's something that would need to be addressed by Larian in a hotfix, but it does seem that the core of it is that the level 1 race feature selections are no longer visible in the class respec screen.
I had the same idea, and am in the middle of trying it right now. I don't think it has anything to do with respec'ing to a class that has a first level subclass selection, I think it's just because there are first level racial options for the Aasimar, which like you said, are not showing up in Patch 8. I wonder if there are other race mods that have first level options that this is happening to.
Anyways, I reverted back to Patch 7, loaded my last good save from there, and respec'd to Oath of Conquest Paladin, and left it at first level. It's now updating back to Patch 8, so I think I'll be fine to level up from there; before, I had respec'd to a Vengeance Paladin for some stupid reason, but I was able to keep leveling up. I think just going forward until something else is figured out, I won't be able to respec my main as I won't be able to get past the initial respec. I'll report back once Patch 8 is done installing.
Your issues may arise from an outdated ImpUI. Of course, ImpUI is no longer being maintained past the initial Patch 8 update, so do proceed with caution; but it may be the source of your issues. I can’t test on my end per-se since I use the SE version of this mod, but someone already reported a similar issue for the SE version, and since it is involving UI components of the character screen that ImpUI mod facilitates, it’s very likely the same issue for both SE and non-SE versions. Try downloading ImpUI Patch 8 from Nexus page: [link]
Edit: I’d tested with a new save and respeccing worked, but not with an older save. Issue may only exist for Aasimar characters created pre-patch 8. So it looks like our race settings weren’t saved over properly. Might be able to fix the issue by using the resculpt/respec mod and re-doing your character creation settings that way, though there’s been reported some weirdness with resculpt; plus its an SE script only. Will see if it can’t be fixed in the files directly itself.
I reported this same issue on the SE version. I actually have only downloaded the mod post-Patch 8 (thus have just started this save), and have an updated ImpUI.
I tried resculpting to a vanilla race and was allowed to respec with Withers. If I resculpt back to an Aasimar, however, the issue of not being able to respec returns. Oddly enough, the "confirm" button will actually appear this time—but if you change any of the options (class, deity, stats, etc.)—it will revert to "choices pending."
Hey, I realised I never tested respeccing past level one (it didn’t occur to me that the game might treat that case differently). In which case, I can’t respec either. So I actually took a look at the updated files for ImpUI and I didn’t see any difference in the implementation for the class passives tab. Combined with the fact that Patch 8 was supposed to implement class passives without the use of ImpUI, I think it’s actually ImpUI breaking things? Removing ImpUI, leveling up, then respeccing, I can now do so without issue. I’m able to change options such as deity and subclass etc with new characters and the hireling. Unfortunately, it’s still not working with my pre Patch-8 Aasimar character, which could be any number of reasons not related to the issues with ImpUI, other mods, etc — I’m unsure at this time. but you could test if removing ImpUI completely would fix it in your case?
Made a new character with WotD Aasimar SE and no ImpUI. Rushed through the Nautiloid and then immediately rushed to Withers. Same issue, can't respec at all. Saved the game, relaunched after adding ImpUI (Patch 8 edition) back into my mod folder as well as the load order, same problem—can't respec. Massive bummer because it seems most things are unaffected by Patch 8 besides WotD.
EDIT: Seems like the only current workaround I can come up with is resculpting to a vanilla race using Appearance Edit Enhanced, respeccing with Withers, then resculpting back to an Aasimar. I can then level up normally, even to level 12. This is extremely tedious as I essentially have to remake my character again after resculpting, but it does work.
Last resort I did a bit of diving through the Entity dumps, and I was able to compare save files where I could respec and save files where I couldn't respec. The racial passives choice is always happening in the background whether I could see it or not, but sometimes it seemed like it had remembered my past choice. Which! Is probably the case? All the passives have these two weird fields - "field_30" and "field_80". I... think? field_30 is some kind of ordering that repeats between [0-2], while field_80 is... Selected, or not? I'm not sure entirely. What I found looks something like this: { "Class" : "ff2b6894-b03e-4bc6-a3b4-ce16ce405e7e", "Level" : 1, "Multiclass" : false, "PassiveList" : "c3a8da40-5df9-43f7-ad30-825a7a2068ef", "Passives" : [ "Trips_Aa_Passive_Tags_HighElf" ], "ReplacePassives" : [], "SelectorId" : "Trips_ProgressionDescriptionOrigins", "Subclass" : "00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000", "Type" : 1, "field_30" : 0, "field_80" : -1 } So it has all the information to be able to automatically select your previously chosen racial passives, but it's that field_80 set to -1 for some reason that prevents it from doing so. All we have to do is change field_80s to 0 in order to make respeccing work again, which can be easily done via console commands. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of a non SE way of accomplishing this at this time.
For those who can use SE: Make a backup of your saves before doing any editing, and of course, script extender console debug must be enabled (see [link] for how to). Open up your game, load in your save file, make sure your active character is the Aasimar you're trying to respec, and then switch to the console debug: press your enter key for script mode and paste [this] script in. Check to make sure the output results look correct; i.e., all the field_80s for Trips_X are set to 0. Afterwards, it should let you respec without having to go through the tedium of redoing your character via resculpt. This is only a temporary solution and will probably have to go through it again every time you want to respec, but it's still probably the quickest workaround, using Script Extender. Also, in case you encounter unexpected behaviour, don't save the current state of the game; close out of the SE console and your game will shut down without saving even in honor mode.
Using that script on the Script Extender version of WotD fixes the issue. From what I understand, it will only apply for that session of playing, but that's fine considering you usually only need to respec for specific scenarios/reasons anyway. This is way less complicated than resculpting your character. Definitely saved my initial Patch 8 playthrough until WotD gets a proper fix!
Glad it worked for you! Yeah, I honestly don't think it is in modders' hands at this point. Larian said they were going to support race passives, but I think they borked the UI in the process. Hopefully the next hotfix resolves the issue.
Thank you ratshite! I just tried the script and it worked fine, I was able to complete the respect of my Aasimar character. Again, thanks so much for the mod, it's such a joy to play the Fallen Aasimar Conquest Palalock that I played Tomb of Annihilation table top with!
This was intended; I'd set a time limit on the pastebin originally because I hoped that it would be fixed before then, which was definitely optimistic. PooSheQ posted a version on Astralities Elven Anthology that would work well for more than just WOTD.
Edit: NVM, a new ImpUI version has been uploaded which re-adds the CC features back to ImpUI. Try that first.
Hi I was really excited to use this mod upon my first time playing BG3, but from reading certain things have broken with patch 8 is there any chance this intends to update soon?
It does work mostly fine, with the exception of having issues respec'ing, but look further down for the solution (pasting a few lines of a script into the console).
There's a new version of ImpUI for Patch 8, as well.
hey for some reason from the neck up there isnt any color to my cracks anymore. lol it just looks like scars all over my face. the body is fine. im not sure what happened.

I suggest switching to it if you're not on MacOS.
It's been recoded with compatibility in mind and all sorts of other bonuses and advantages both for me as an author and you as a user.
Find my article (here).

So it has all the information to be able to automatically select your previously chosen racial passives, but it's that field_80 set to -1 for some reason that prevents it from doing so. All we have to do is change field_80s to 0 in order to make respeccing work again, which can be easily done via console commands. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of a non SE way of accomplishing this at this time."Class" : "ff2b6894-b03e-4bc6-a3b4-ce16ce405e7e",

Edit: NVM, a new ImpUI version has been uploaded which re-adds the CC features back to ImpUI. Try that first.
There's a new version of ImpUI for Patch 8, as well.
