The Plugins.txt enabler mod has been obsolete since June 9th, 2024 (v1.12.30).

So you decided it'd be fun to challenge yourself and make combat really hard by unnerfing your enemies while nerfing yourself in some ways, and now here you are installing this mod because you couldn't survive a single fight and rather than re-nerf your enemies, you figure you need to just beef up so you can handle it.  But there's a problem.  You're a level 177 with only 612 HP and for some dumb reason this mod is only granting you +2HP with every level you increase.  What is going on?!

Well, I'm here to tell you, if this is you, and you made everything hard, there's a chance that you copy/pasted (or even typed out and forgot) the following game setting in a bat file, or installed a mod that tweaks this setting (even if the above scenario doesn't perfectly apply to you, just check the value anyway):

fHealthEnduranceOffset <- affects your base health

The default vanilla value for this setting is 20.  So before assuming this mod is borked, because it isn't, load up your game and open console and run the following to see if either of the above game settings have been significantly reduced from the vanilla value:

    getgs fHealthEnduranceOffset

If the values returned are far lower than 20, I guarantee that's why this mod doesn't appear to be working according to your expectations.  So you can either honour your past wishes and choose to stay nerfed and just try to git gud, or you can go and figure out where this game setting is being changed and remove it, or experiment with a compromise if you'd like, where you increase the value but not all the way up to vanilla.  Or if you can't figure out where the setting is being tweaked, override it by adding it to a bat file that gets loaded in your StarfieldCustom.ini after everything else.  You can set the values with the following:

    setgs fHealthEnduranceOffset X

Replace 'X' with whatever value you want.

After fixing this, you may still find that you're not gaining as much HP per level as you expected, although you are gaining more than you were before fixing the above setting.  Firstly, Wartortle never set an expectation for how much HP you would gain per level.  This mod only removes the level 100 cap, according to the description.  So I imagine what's left governing the mechanics of your HP gains is either the base game or other mods/settings you have in your setup.  I don't know this for a fact, and am not aware of what settings would affect your HP gains per level, but I wouldn't be surprised if Bethesda included some sort of exponential curve that increases some sort of cost to HP gains per level, similarly to how there is such a curve increasing the XP cost to gain a new level per level.  If that, or something like that, is true, then if you are high level, you perhaps should not have expected large HP gains.  I don't know, I could be wrong and maybe it is a bug, and I'm being a little speculative here, so don't quote me on HP gain mechanics.  I'm just not sure small HP gains necessarily represent any kind of problem with this mod.

As for weirdness involving Wellness skill modifiers not properly appearing until after fast traveling, or otherwise going through a loading screen, that could be a vanilla bug, or perhaps something else going on with your setup, but this HP gain mod doesn't touch wellness, as far as I understand (he has another mod for that).

Anyway, just thought I'd include this since I noticed a number of people in the comments reporting disappointingly piddly gains from this mod.  My explanation above might not be the only possible cause of that, but it is the cause I personally discovered, so hope it helps some people.

Also, thank you Wartortle for this mod.  Works great.

So, what's your actual point of all this? My setting for healthenduranceoffset is 20 as it should, yet I don't get 20 per level (now at level 147 and sometimes I get +7 sometimes +3 per level up).
So yes, maybe this and the other mod works for getting any HP per lvl up but not as it should, maybe as you wrote, due to another factor that we don't know which one is.

The point of all this was to essentially try to help anyone who may have found themselves in the same situation I was in, where they're very high level but HP is extremely low, like a few hundred, and after installing this mod they feel they're supposed to have more HP and it's driving them nuts.  This comment doesn't apply to anyone who didn't previously nerf their HP by adjusting fHealthEnduranceOffset and then forget about it, so not you.

The tiny HP gains from this mod, on the other hand, I don't really know what's up with that.  I just offered some speculations, including that it might just be a consequence of being high level along with potentially some other kind of HP gain cost that increases per level, or maybe it's a bug caused by either another mod or the base game itself.  I don't really know, though, and I'm just speculating on that issue.

Any chance I could get 1.0 back? 1.1 doesn't seem to be working at all alongside Skill Fixes.

I assumed it would be fixed after a unity, it was not.

1.0 worked! I usually save old versions, I must have been hasty.

Edit: I'm sorry. It seems to be working now. I must have been in a weird (not transitioning exteriors) situation for a long time and SkillFixes bugged.

At this point I'm going to patch out the SkillFixes version and swap to yours before my next Unity.

As I've previously said (using the script of the previous version 1.0)  on level 139 with 5306HP went to 140 with 5313HP, only +7hp.

Now using the script from 1.01 leveling up to 142 my HP is 3122 .

I don't know what's happening but something is not right, lol.

Maybe I will try 1.0 again to see how it goes..(with a savegame of level 141)

level 139 Gain Health After Level 100 mod version 1.0
level 140 Gain Health After Level 100 mod version 1.0
level 142 Gain Health After Level 100 mod version 1.01

      1)
I've been using Skill fixes mod version 1.9 (the one with no changes on Welness perk) from 14th of November, way before your mod,

so the fact that each level gives me 7hp has nothing to do with the Skill fixes mod. I think that every level gives you 20hp, right? Even after level 100 (that's what your mod should do, correct?)

I don't have any tweak/mod that lowers the default +20 per level.

      2) When I've tested version 1.01 of your mod, as soon as I've loaded the game, hp was way lower from before, from 5300+ to 3100+, more than 2000hp was gone, exit game, use your version 1.0 mod my hp went to back to 5300+ again.

So, I gave as feedback two different observations using your mod, regardless any other mod like Skill fixes.
      --
Don't worry, maybe it's just me(?).
+7 per level is not bad, better from nothing, though I will stay on initial release, version 1.0

Hi Wartortle, your mod is a life-saver. But I have to confirm it behaves erratic. Max health beyond level 100 goes up/down on changing location (inside/outside buildings and ship, always different values), equipment, and leveling itself (goes down mostly). At the moment, I had 4000+ at level 110+ and then ~2000 at level 120+ (I have Wellness maxed-out), no matter what I did. I've put it at the bottom of the mods list.

Nevertheless, thank you for your effort. I'm sure this will be ironed out somehow. Maybe it's something on my side, a conflict with better skills and wellness fix, game and SFSE updates, or something else.

I hope it's retroactive/dynamic and not "burned in" into my save game.

      EDIT:

I think the Wellness skill fix from the Skill Fixes mod is causing problems.

      - Disabled Skill Fixes mod and loaded game with missing mod warning
      - Removed wellness skill via console and saved new game
      - Exited game, installed standalone Wellness Skill Bugfix mod
      - Loaded a new saved game without Wellness skill and maxed it out again
      - Just to be sure, I re-equipped all my spacesuit and clothes parts
      - At level 71, I have ~4000 HP; it's steady and does not change on switching locations and equipment

Sadly, the bug remained when I repeated the process on another hard save at level 105. I have 2000-3000 HP, constantly changing, but mostly around 2000, no matter what I do. This fix works only before you hit level 100, at least in my case.

Wartortle, could you please check the Skill Fixes mod to see if you can dig up what is causing this issue? They have good improvements, but sadly, they don't offer standalone mods for separate skills. Everything is an all-in-one pack.

Maybe to create a compatibility patch, if possible? I like Skill Fixes mod, but no matter how many great features it packs, I'll disable it if it causes the issue and replay from before level 100.

Again, this is my case. I'm not 100% sure this is the primary and only problem, but removing the  Skill Fixes mod and using a standalone Wellness Skill Bugfix mod instead fixed this issue for me.

      Cheers!

It’s how argonil decided to implement a script free fix of the wellness perk bug. I have my own which you linked as note works. They aren’t compatible. I won’t be making a patch since I already have a working fix. Cheers.

Thanks, Wartortle. I'm unsure if I can use the Skill Fixes mod, which also has a wellness bug fix, so enabling Wellness Skill Bugfix is redundant (I suppose they do the same thing). But it also has bug fixes for ship shields, etc.

I'll start a new game and put your Gain Health After Level 100 after Skill Fixes mod (which includes a wellness bug fix) in Plugins.txt. I hope it will work well.

      Thanks, good to know.

I just leveled up from starting 8 (202 HP) to 10 (300+ HP). When I reloaded the game, my HP was 202 again. No Wellness skill activated. Bummer...
I think I will turn off the skill fixes mod, add your wellness bug fix mod instead, and see how it goes.

Strange, same issue, without skill fixes mod, or any mod related to player stats/skills. Max HP resets to 202 on every load, regardless of the level and previous HP. I cleared all DX and mod caches, etc.

I mostly have shipbuilding/crafting/equipment/loot mods and Starfield Community Patch (1st in load order; now I read that they fixed shield, rejuvenation, and wellness bugs, among all the others). I don't know what could cause this issue.

Please let me know if anyone has the same problem or knows how to fix it.

Success! After turning almost every mod on and off, I found the one that causes HP to reset.

It's any armor mod from vTemporalZEROv. It somehow conflicts with the game since it improves and adds new legendary effects for armor.

I already noticed that his core mod vTZv Core - Master File (required for newer/advanced mods) has the max hp issue, and I used only mods that do not need it, like Legendary Legendaries.

I removed his Legendary Legendaries mod, and max HP stays as it should be after reloading. His weapon mods don't create issues, but I'll remove all his mods since they seem pretty conflicting and chaotically done overall. Sadly, the concept is good, but the modding/coding and organization... not so.

Hi Wartortle, my apologies for bothering you.

I cleared all caches and started a new game, but now only with Gain Health After Level 100 mod, nothing else checked in plugins.txt. It worked well until level 100. Then when leveling up 100 > 101 a spike in max hp happens (about +900) and it stops growing.

I tested it immediately on start on Vectera, adding XP via console.

Do you have any idea could some additional files of deactivated mods (scripts, source, strings, interface, etc.), or any other file can affect your mod, except the main ESM/ESPs in the Data folder?

I just disabled mods in the list. I didn't delete the mod and other files (SFSE, loaders, Baka's achievement, max weapons/engines, and other .dll, .pex, .toml files, etc), nor change anything in vanilla game files. But they don't do anything with player stats or skills, just QoL improvements (scanner/highlight range, more planet landing sites, POIs, etc).

      Thanks.

Thanks for the info JaeDL. Could be anything, but I don't see the cause. BTW, regarding skill fixes, I tried both and decided for Starfield Community Patch, which fixed everything from Skill Fixes, and many more game bugs.

Wartortle, should I use your Wellness Skill Bugfix along the community patch, which has done that too? Are there any differences? I'm planning to start a clean new game, it's good to know...

Also, can health-related perks like "Alien DNA" affect your health 100+ mod? I opened the source code and it seems to me it's completely independent of any mod, it just adds a condition if the player is above level 100, add health. I don't know what possibly could override such a solid condition.

Thanks again. I know I'm spamming you, but I want to set things straight and finally enjoy the game.

Hey, no worries. I could be wrong about not having any issues-- I'm just saying I myself haven't seen it, so maybe it's not a 100% thing. I didn't want anyone reading the posts here (as I always do before installing a mod) to assume a hard incompatibility.

I suggest Starfield Community Patch for Sure, but it's not a one or the other situation.  You also don't want to be enabling and disabling plugins during the same playthrough unless it's absolutely essential (unless you plan to revert to an older save after messing around).

You can see from my comments down below that I initially had some issue when I first installed this mod. Haven't seen them since. Might have been a matter of just letting the scripts run, or waiting indoors, or saving, exiting, and then reloading.

My load order is SFCP (everyone should install this), then Skill Fixes, then this mod. I've done both Wellness fixes and they both work-- I kept the one from Skill Fixes because I expected it would be rolled into SFCP.

      Hi Wartortle,

It works well now :) I ran a speed test on Vectera after the pirates attacked and getting into Discovery (but didn't take off). I tried loading/saving, entering/exiting the ship and base, changing suits, etc, in the process, just to be sure. Here are a few observations that might be useful to you:

      • Leveling up more than one level at a time is bugged, even under level 100, and doesn't add the correct HP amount per level (e.g. skipping 5 or 10 levels by adding XP via console).
      • I took and maxed Wellness skill at the beginning (I'm using SFCP and your Wellness bug fix mod) and leveled up by the book, one level at a time. Everything was peachy, I had +28 HP per level until level 101 (I suppose that Wellness skill gave additional 8 HP per level).
      • At Level 100 I had 3102 HP with Alien DNA perk + maxed Wellness skill.
      • After level 100 it continued to add HP but lost the Wellness benefit (as it seems to me) and I started getting 20 HP per level instead of 28.
      • I tried a few levels over 100, it goes steadily with +20 HP per level, no issues on save/load, enter/exit building and ship, changing equipment, etc.
      • I'll let you know you if something happens at higher levels (130, 160, and so on).

Again, thank you and JaeDL for helping me out, and for your mods.

      Cheers!

Just leveled from 116 to 117 and health did not change. 3077.

Oh man then I went outside and it dropped to 2055. Is this incompatible with Skill Fixes? ugh

Seems I have 3077 (no increase) when indoors and 2055 when outside of the Lodge.

In and out a few times and my health is back at 3077. At least it didn't drop. Maybe next level up it will work.

It has no conflicts with anything in xedit and i loaded it last, hmmm

It should be the next time you level up, similar way like the Wellness Skill Bug Fix mod.

EDIT: yeap, works perfect after first level up.
