Frequently Asked Questions Note: Most information can be found on the wiki!
Is this mod compatible with Stardew Valley Expanded/East Scarp/Free Love/etc? Yes! Ridgeside Village has no known incompatible mods so far. However, this is not to say no issues will arise when mixing and matching mods on an existing save - It just means you will have to manually fix these issues the first time they appear. See our common bugs wiki page for more info.
Does RSV work on mobile? Yes! As of Version 2.5.2, RSV offers mobile compatibility with no extra steps. But please note that while Stardew Valley has recently had a mobile update, the modding scene has been slow to catch up, and the mobile port of SMAPI is still very prone to bugs.
How do I install this mod? Please see the detailed install guide here. Please also make sure you have all the mod requirements installed - These are listed both under the Nexus Requirements section, and on the wiki Install Guide page.
Can I add RSV to an existing save? Yes, you can! Please see this section of the install guide for information about mid-save installs.
Help! There's a bunch of trees on top of the buildings! Random trees and bushes in odd places are caused by updating RSV from a pre-2.0 version. Use the unofficial update version of Reset Terrain Features to clear them.
Why isn't X's heart event triggering? If you're having trouble triggering an event, we recommend using Event Lookup to see what conditions you have yet to meet.
Where are the Ridgeside villagers in vanilla festivals? By default, Ridgeside's characters have their own area for any festival held in Pelican Town that's located a bit outside the normal festival map. (Eg. By the fountain in town, across the bridge on the beach.) You can disable this option in the config settings.
The game keeps crashing while loading, but I'm not getting any errors in my log? This occurs when you overload your machine and cause the current process to hang. To prevent this, wait patiently while the game loads and do not touch anything! It will load eventually, we promise. Please see the note below as well.
Help, it's taking forever to load! Any large mod will take a long time to load the first time you load a save with it. After saving once, the load time should decrease significantly. You can try downloading the mod SpriteMaster to decrease load time, and going to Farm Type Manager's config settings and changing "Monster Limit Per Location" to 30 or so to decrease lag in-game. You should also make sure not to have any obsolete mods like PyTK or TMXL installed.
Are there any seasonal outfits for the villagers? Yes, there are! You can download them here :)

-------------------------------------------------- Compatibility with Other Mods As mentioned above, RSV is pretty much compatible with any mod out there because it barely messes with vanilla content outside of a tiny patch on the Bus Stop and Backwoods maps. However, a few mods modify game mechanics in a way that can sometimes overlap with RSV - the issues and their solutions are detailed in the link below.
If you run into any incompatibility issues not mentioned above, please let us know and we will try our best to address the root of the problem on our end. -------------------------------------------------- Mods for RSV
Diverse Stardew Valley Adds seasonal outfit compatibility for vanilla NPCs during Ridgeside festivals and adds diversity compatibility to Lenny, Bert and Trinnie.
Leilani (NPC for Ridgeside Village) Leilani is the mother of Keahi and the wife of Pika. She is from Ember Island in the Fern Islands archipelago (like her husband!) and works away from the valley for most of the year, but every summer she comes back to spend time with her family.
Sam & Alissa - Rival Heart Events Some events for Sam and Alissa, with a platonic route and a romantic route! The romantic route includes a married version where they live together and a family version where they have a child.

You do not need a new file to enjoy this mod! If you don't want all the events that would have happened by this point in your save, though, it's recommended to turn on Progressive Story so the content unlocks on the same timeline as it would have from its first install date (e.g. without it wedding receptions will open early Year 2, but with Progressive Story on it'll unlock about a year after Ridgeside is installed).
Hey, I'm having issues with RSV where any time I try to watch a heart event, if there is an option available for the farmer to say something I will click on an option and it will continually pull me back to the option to pick and not advance the event. I get this message on SMAPI. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling RSV.

I believe this is probably a Ridgeside Dialogue Expansion thing, but please post your SMAPI log (not a copy paste of the error and/or errors) so we can make sure. (Stack empty should only fire with a missing response in event, which doesn't happen with Ridgeside itself.)
Hi! I have a problem with RDSV in my save. It's everything okay with SMAPI and also updated all mods. Stardew starts normally but when I try to open any of my saves, it crashes and then closes Stardew.
Can someone help me please? I already saw another person talking about this, but didn't understand. Thank u (and sorry, my english isn't a thing)
We'll need your SMAPI log to figure out the issue. It may be the ruby enchantment issue, meaning you'd need to wait for 1.6.6. We'll need to see the log to know for sure.
Your problem will be fixed by updated SMAPI (4.0.7 or 4.0.8 only - make sure to run the installer, NOT unzip it to your mod folder). (You use the log by posting that link here, which is how I could determine what you needed to do!)
Updated SMAPI and my save is working. Thanks! You helped me a lot! I'm having some problems due to the language and everything else (and thx for explaining me the log, now I understand what it is for :) )
hello I made winter recolor for yellog to match my mod soft slow seasons, (just desaturated the blue), would it be alright to upload just the winter tiles? or would you like them yourself? if not np and ty
Is there an issue with Sockeye Salmon spawning? I've gone to the suggested location on the Wikipedia with the right weather and I thought after 50 fish (I used CJB cheat menu to pause time to see if I was just getting unlucky), it hasn't spawned. I've managed to get the Whitefall Snake successfully, so I don't know if the flag hasn't reset correctly or what. I previously got it fine in my last perfection run.
I've had the exact same issue. Not sure what could be causing it.
EDIT: Since I'm not the only one with this issue, I cheated to double-check. I used mods to skip the fishing mini game, get two curiosity lures on the and cheated to get Sockeye Salmon bait, all to boost my chances of hooking the fish as high as possible, then froze time and spent a couple of hours trying to get the fish. Still no dice, sadly.
Like the other commenters, I was able to catch the Waterfall Snake, and there wasn't anything in the SMAPI log which indicated that something had failed to load. I'm not skilled enough to check anything else, though, sorry.
Glad I'm not the only one. Given I was able to catch the Waterfall Snake despite my original save now claiming to have not caught it (the update seems to have unchecked all modded fish), I assumed that other legendaries would be fine. I did check an older version of the Fish Data file, and nothing has changed.
Hello looks like CJB cheats menu got updated and changed warp system to be added by expansion mods themselves. So I wonder if you guys plan to do such thing? I used to use a warp.json that compatible with ridge side but looks like not working anymore so one you guys added would be much appreciated.
I doubt anyone else would bother to mention this, but, I found the most trivial of inconveniences and decided to mention it here:
- If, for some insane reason, anyone chooses the "Tracker" foraging profession you will find that the Ridgeside Village map generates a bunch of forage in inaccessible areas. Which consequently means you end up with arrows that cannot be followed to the item XD.
I'm not expecting a fix. But thought it was worth mentioning it just in case...
I love how diverse the characters are but the dialogue leaves quite a bit to be desired, it feels like it was written by someone very young. Will try this mod again if dialogue is improved in the future.
