I just heard something about NPC Adventures being "discontinued" as of a month ago?? I ask because I looked on here and while there was definitely a hiatus while looking for new help, I saw nothing that sounded so *final*.

It was especially distressing as the wording sort of made it sound like it might have been clear taken off Nexus without me noticing and I'm really glad that isn't true.
Even if the day did come when this mod is outright abandoned, leaving it up would serve as inspiration for further advancements in the very worthwhile niche this would leave vacant. (Also people might be able to get ideas from the code and game mechanics)

~Cause at the rate we're chugging along, Stardew is going to outlive most twinkies~

Mod is no longer under active development since SDV 1.5 is out. It works in the new SDV update if you don't enter Ginger Island with recruited companion and I don't fix it, my priorites was changed since I am working on my own game. Also no new features will be developed too. If someone wants to fix NA on Ginger Island or create new features, add content (like new dialogues, companion events and etc) they can send me pull request on NA GitHub (write or fix thing in NA's code requires C# coding skills). Some peopla was scared by the license and they said NA is not opensource. NA is opensource, but protected. You can fork the repo and make changes, but you can't distribute your binaries as official distribution. If you want publis changed binaries of NA append -unofficial-YourName.1 in version string in manifest.json (don't change the author!) and you can publish it on SDV forum in unofficial updates mod topic and don't forget credit me.

      Oh, congrats. :D

That's way better news. This gem is liable to get picked back up as soon as the right enterprising soul learns its in need of a new developer~

I apologize for posting this here but I can't message you privately. Is there anything people should know about the Quest Framework mod? It says you pulled the mod because it could potentially damage data... Can you elaborate on this? I recently updated it and I would like to know if I should remove it from my mod list. I did have the first crash ever this evening and I noticed you pulled the file when I was searching through my download history on here trying to find if there were any reports of memory leaks from any mods.

Does this mod work without the "Quest Framework" mod? I tried to download it but it said it was removed.

Trying to use mods without the required mods will generate issues. If this mod requires the quest framework then it is likely that it will not work without it.

Ridgeside village requires quest framework and without it none of the npcs spawn. Best bet is to avoid downloading this mod until Purrplingcat gets things figured out.

Never, multiplayer version was retired few months ago. Here is explanation from MP dev CallMeFoxie:

Why multiplayer of NPC Adventures died?

NPC Adventures Multiplayer was discontinued after one or two test versions due to lots of problems understanding the flow of synchronization and client-server (or a lack thereof) logic. In SDV there's no "deciding" role for anything in particular, so everything had to be invented and written by me. However it ended up clashing with the base save and more hacks were introduced (for example think what would happen if two people tried asking the same NPC for an adventure at the same time when there's no "deciding server"). In other games there's generally a "server" which does all the logic and "client" which is nothing but screen and a keyboard. In SDV there's several clients and the only "server" thing happening on one client is saving. Nothing else really. All decisions are made on the client!

Upkeeping the MP version alongside the SP version was pretty hard and merging was nowhere near possible as there was zero feedback from testers, even in public testing release frowning . There sure was a better way to do all of this, but at the time of writing there were no usable materials of how everything is coded and what you should do and very little mods actually supported MP in a way that we could look at.If somebody wants to do the work again and better, feel free to, but please, talk to me about the logic you'd set up first with me, @Foxie, first, I will definitely give you hints and ideas how to make it better or what problems you could run into.

The current version of the mod has been moved to outdated files?
Is there a logical reason for this?

Mod doesn't working properly with SDV 1.5 and this mod is obsolete. Development of new features and maintenance was cancelled. Mod is discontinued.

Unless a miracle happens and someone more skilled than me fix all the bugs, then NA disapears tomorrow and no more be available.

If I follow what you're saying. There is an issue with upgrading to the current version of Stardew Valley; and instead of leaving the file that currently works (albeit buggy), you have decided to pull the mod altogether? This seems strange. Wouldn't it make sense to leave the current version up with the hope that someone else may, at some point, step in to help?

I mean it is your mod, but if I were in your shoes I wouldn't want to remove work I'd spent time developing simply because I couldn't figure out how to fix something. I'd ask for some help, or at the very least I'd leave the file up (or make it open source) so people could continue enjoying my work.

I think it is open source? (theres a github link in the description) they probably wanna remove it from Nexus so that people will not bother them (since they arent working on the mod anymore, and as I've seen people will still comment on mods years old and untouched)

If I'm wrong just ignore me, I can just see how exhausting it could be keeping a mod like this running

Anyways, Have a Happy New Year! Goodluck with whatever the future holds :) And thank you for the hard work you put into this mod <3

On the 0.16.0 version I spent three night without sleep. I worked on the version whole days and while nights without payment. I just did it for free and didn't sleep. Now people attacking me "It not working with 1.5, you lie, fix it immediately" Sorry, really I haven't energy for next sleepless nights and analyze what was changed in SDV 1.5 and what all is broken and rewrite tons of code. This mod was not simple mod, it was really complex. And yes, I asked for help, but I was rejected with words: "It is so much complex mod and modders here don't want to fix something complex". Make this mod compatible and without bugs means rewrite whole core of the mod (CSM) rewrite pathfinder due to bridges and etc. Really it's not easy work for 30 minutes sitting under PC and release. It is fix for long days and nights. I think that mod has no price for to devastate me again. I burnt out in my work, left my job and for some time i was on hiatus. When I came back, SDV 1.5 raised and I can rewrite whole mod from scratch, people are mad due to my mod is hardly buggy again. I think I am not so good with my mental side to catch this. Sorry. My energy and skills are not bottomless.

      Happy nee year

Understandable. Regardless of all that, however, if it were me I would still leave the mod up. For the simple fact that you worked hard on it and people do appreciate it, even if you feel they don't.

Keep the mod up means fix all the bugs, so it's meaning rewrite the core of mod = sleepless nights without any decision for reward. Or fix nothing but then it means answering to people questions and bug reports of the same bugs.

      Does it?
I've known plenty of mod makers who have put disclaimers on the front page of their mod saying they will not be updating it. There really isn't a "Mod is up therefore I have to keep it updated" rule or policy...

AS much as I hate to Say it, purrplingcat has every right to pull the mod.  Sitting here and arguing with her is not going to help matters.  If no one steps up and wants to continue where she has stopped, then the mod will die.  You can't expect someone to Give up their life for something that they are not getting paid for and with how some of this community is acting and expecting everything to be fixed instantly does not help either.  I see three possible out comes.  One, after a well deserved break, purrplingcat comes back and attempts to fix the mod and get it updated.  Two, Leqesai, You learn how to program for SDV and keep the mod alive.  Three, the mod dies.
