About this mod

Cheerful, easygoing, and adventurous, Dao's spent most of her life travelling the world and trying new things, so settling down in a small town for a while is something of a novelty. Adds a new custom NPC for Sunberry Village!

for Sunberry Village


Cheerful, easygoing, and adventurous, Dao (she/her) has spent most of her life travelling the world and trying new things. She's decided to slow down for a few years (maybe!) because plane tickets don't buy themselves and is working as a translator and volunteer firefighter, but for better or worse, she's not one to let her age or her body stop her from doing what she wants. Dao's used to constant change with herself as the only fixed point, so staying in a place like Sunberry for an extended period of time has proven to be something of a novelty.

Dao is a custom NPC with full seasonal dialogue, unique gift dialogue, seasonal outfits with a unique mix-and-match randomised weather-dependent wardrobe, events, gift tastes, and integration with both base and additional Sunberry NPCs.


Requirements

Dao is an additional NPC for Sunberry Village by skellady and sophiesalacia! Sunberry Village and all of its required mods are also required for Dao. Please make sure you follow Sunberry's installation guide!

While not strictly required, Dao also has synergy and crossover content with Sunberry Village's other additional NPCs and installing all of them is recommended!

Dao has a semi-randomised dynamic schedule that takes her across Sunberry and occasionally into Pelican Town and its surrounds. NPC Map Locations is recommended if you struggle to find her. See the spoiler below for details:

Dao will sometimes be away for the day, either helping with a fire, going for a drive, or going kayaking. If you can't find her, check if her car is there!



Gift Tastes

Dao has custom dialogue for her loved gifts, some disliked and hated gifts, and a few special unique gifts. She also has hints for her gift tastes in her dialogue. As a general rule of thumb, Dao loves dishes with tropical or forageable ingredients and dislikes gemstones and food that's spicy or has dairy.


Events

Dao currently has four events at 2, 4, 6, and 8 hearts, with more side events planned for future updates. For a guide on how to trigger her events, see the spoiler:

Questions

Where is Dao from? What's with all the places she mentions?
Dao is originally from the Kingdom of Prinat, a loose Stardew equivalent to Thailand. As she's travelled pretty extensively, she sometimes mentions other Stardew countries in her dialogue. Most of these are loose equivalents to or inspired by Earth countries - see if you can guess their inspiration!

How old is Dao?
She's in her mid to late 60s!

Is Dao romanceable or roommateable?
She is not. Dao is aro-ace and is not interested in becoming the farmer's roommate for reasons explained in her story.

Is Dao compatible with _______?
Dao is compatible with the majority of mods, with the exception of potential NPC overlaps because I can't test every NPC mod.

Does Dao attend festivals?
Yes, Dao attends most festivals along with the other Sunberry NPCs, as well as attending the Ridgeside Gathering and Embers of Resolution if Ridgeside Village is installed. If SVE is installed, she will not attend Spirits' Eve or the Festival of Ice.

Did Dao destroy a tree in Sunberry Forest?
This is unfortunately a game limitation with the way her schedule works and not something I can do anything about. Enjoy your free sap?

Does Dao work on mobile or in multiplayer?
Potentially not. I'm unable to test either of these.

Can I translate this mod?
Only if I am asked first, if the translation is not made with AI, and if only the translated i18n file is uploaded. Any unauthorised translations will be reported.

Why is Dao missing? Where is she?
Dao works as a firefighter and is also an adventure enthusiast, so she's sometimes away for the day either at a fire or taking her kayak out for a trip. If you can't find her, check if her car is there - if it's not, that means she's away today. She'll be back tomorrow, don't worry.

If you have seen her 8 heart event and her car is there but her kayak is not:

She's away travelling for the week. Dao will go travelling for 6 days each season after seeing her 8 heart event.


Is there missable content?
Yes, her 6 and 8 heart events are missable. However, the window before you can miss them is extremely large - as long as you're talking to Dao regularly, there's little risk of missing anything.

After her 8 heart event, Dao will leave Sunberry Village for a week each season. However, her decision to do that is not tied to her relationship with the farmer - if two years has passed since Dao was first installed, it will become possible to see her 8 heart event even if you have less than 8 hearts with her. At this point, it will no longer be possible to see her 6 heart event - it's already happened but you just weren't there to see it.

You will have 11 days in which to see her 8 heart event. After that time, she will decide to go travelling regardless of whether or not the event was seen, and if it was not, it will not be possible to see it.
