About this mod

Adds more crops to Mixed Seeds and Mixed Flower Seeds to make them a viable alternative to buying seeds.

Seed Overhaul changes what seeds are available from Mixed Seeds and Mixed Flower Seeds.

Currently included seeds include those available to be purchased from shops using gold, plus Taro Root and Pineapple, which would normally be available from Mixed Seeds on Ginger Island. Seeds are gated behind their normal availability, meaning that seeds from the Oasis/Ginger Island are only available once the Desert/Ginger Island is unlocked.

Config options:
Early Oasis seeds
: enables seeds normally found at the Oasis from the beginning. Useful if you want those seeds to show up earlier, or have other mods to access the Oasis prior to unlocking it through the Community Center/Joja.
Early Island seeds: enables seeds normally found on Ginger Island from the beginning. Useful if you want those seeds to show up earlier, or have other mods to access Ginger Island earlier than usual.
Enable Trellis Crops: enable trellis crops in mixed seeds.

This is still in the early stages of what I envision for this mod, and I am working on more features (see below for current plans).


This mod is inspired by 2 mods that have not (yet?) been updated to 1.6, but I greatly enjoy playing with for added challenge:

What seeds are included in the Mixed (Flower) Seeds?
Currently, all seeds that are normally purchased from shops with gold, plus Taro Root and Pineapple, are available from Mixed (Flower) Seeds, with the following conditions:
  • Seeds from Pierre/Joja are included immediately
  • Seeds from the Oasis are included once the Desert is unlocked (or from the beginning via config)
  • Seeds for Taro Root and Pineapple are included once Ginger Island is unlocked (when they'd normally be available from Mixed Seeds)
  • Cactus Seeds are available in valid areas from Mixed Seeds as of v0.5.0
  • Seeds that are normally obtained via other means (eg, Strawberries, Ancient Fruit, or Coffee Beans) are not included in the Mixed Seeds; you will have to acquire them as usual

Why am I getting a more of some crops than others?
Crop frequencies are adjusted in an attempt to balance between crops, ie, the more valuable a crop is, the rarer it is. Similarly, crops are less common if they regrow or are available in multiple seasons.

  • Config options: include alternative acquisition crops (eg, Ancient Fruit or Coffee Beans)
  • Further mod compatibility
  • Seed shop availability/prices
  • Additional means to create mixed seeds (to go with seeds being harder to acquire directly)

Possible Future inclusions
These are ideas I've had, but aren't on my short list for inclusion.
  • Config option: Balanced crop values - Adjust the value of crops to reduce the number of crops that are overwhelmingly strong/weak compared to others.
  • Config option: Uniform crop frequencies - forget balance, make everything equally likely
