About this mod

Have you ever felt like the Hat Mouse needs friends or some time off? So have I, which is why this mod adds 14 new Hat Mice that randomly take over hat shop duty for a day.

Here for more Hat Mice? You've come to the right place! This mod features a grand total of fourteen mice wearing a variety of mouse-sized hats, ranging from headwear from the vanilla game to handcrafted hats specifically for this mod. For a list of all available hats, see the following spoiler or simply check the last image in the image gallery.

  • A green beanie
  • Two blue bows, inspired by Hamtaro's Bijou (yes, I know she's a hamster and not a mouse, but hey, close enough!)
  • A pink bow
  • A white and blue cap inspired by the one Dipper wears in Gravity Falls
  • A white flower
  • A pair of goggles inspired by the one Tai wears in Digimon Adventure – every hero needs goggles, after all, and mice are no exception!
  • A purple headband with yellow stripes – the one worn by Ryo in Digimon Survive. Also available for your farmer in my Fashion Sense mod
  • The green cap from the vanilla game that's totally not inspired by Link's
  • An eyepatch. Does the color remind you of a certain villager?
  • A postman's (or maybe a certain postwoman's?) cap
  • A cap inspired by the one Red wears in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen
  • A sailor cap
  • A straw hat. What does it remind you of – farming or the great wide sea?
  • The Wizard's hat


Here's how it works: Every day, one of the fifteen mice (fourteen from this mod plus the original Hat Mouse) is randomly chosen to take over shop duty for that day. That's it! Technically, there's a chance you'll run into the same mouse multiple days in a row or meet it more often than others, but it's purely random.

If you like these mice even a tiny bit, I can't recommend downloading and endorsing They Deserve it Too - Portraits for Vendors enough. Its author DolphinIsNotAFish was incredibly kind and reached out to me to ask if she could make portraits for my mice. I would've been insane to say no, so I'm happy to announce that there's a whole set of exceptionally well-made matching vendor portraits for all of my mice now! Please check out her work.

Very easy!
  • Make sure you've got Content Patcher installed
  • Download this mod
  • Extract it into your Mods folder
  • ???

To uninstall it, simply delete the folder called "[CP] Hat Mouse and Friends" with all its content from your mods folder.



What good would these mice be if they only worked (or looked good) with the original mouse house? All the mice are compatible with the following mods:
  • All popular map recolors. Would be a shame if the brown that's used to hide the spot where the hat would normally be were a different hue than the brown inside the hat shop's window, wouldn't it?
  • PeacefulEnd's Hat Shop Restoration. The mouse manning (mousing?) the counter inside the restored hat shop is also randomized each day and is slightly animated to fit the one made for that mod. Wiggling ears and blinking for everyone!
  • Elle's Town Buildings and all the palettes it comes with (check the config, preferrably using GMCM).
  • Gwen's Way Back Pelican Town. The original mouse works a bit differently here and wears the season-appropriate hat that this mods adds if it gets chosen.
  • SVE. It doesn't change the mouse house, so it's compatible.
  • They Deserve it Too - Portraits for Vendors. Do yourself a favor and get these portraits. Please.
