I'm back! (kinda) I stopped working on this mod when I finished my playthrough with my friends, it's hard to get motivation to work on the mod when I'm not currently playing the game. This seems to happen with all the other mods I've made for other games as well.
Anyway, I may or may not update this mod again now that I'll be starting a new playthrough soon.
To answer a few common questions:
Yes, this mod is compatible with 1.6, as far as I know. My friend putting together our playthrough modpack has so far indicated it's functioning normally. If any issues come up, I'll try to fix them quickly
Regarding the lag from the last version I put out (1.3.2), I couldn't quite figure out the true cause of it. However, I've removed that version from the list, and everything appears to be fine with the current latest version (1.3.1)
Regarding future features, I'll make a separate thread for those to solicit them a bit easier. Perhaps if I get back into the swing of things, I'll be more inclined to update the mod with them
is it possible to add a sprite sheet of a custom indicator, so that instead of it just bobbing I can have an animation, instead?? That would be lovely. Lovely mod, and so useful, by the way.
It's probably possible, I'd just have to do some research on how to implement it. I'm just now coming back to my mod after not playing Stardew for a year and a half, so I'm not entirely sure if I'm ready to dive into the code again. But if I do, this is one of the features I'd like to add
Hey, this is fantastic! Would it be possible to make the chat indicator a png asset that can be swapped/overridden? I'd like to use a different icon (not because I don't like yours, I just like it when all my UI matches). LMK!
That's a great suggestion! I have a lot to learn with importing custom assets, but I'll have that be the main focus of the next update. Thanks for enjoying Chatter!
Alright, custom icon is WONDERFUL, thank you so much for implementing that! I'm still running into issues with the X value offsets, though.
Here are my settings:
The only function working on the Debug Options screen is the indicator scale. Nothing else seems to take effect. It also looks like the enable for max hearts function doesn't work either. How can I get the indicator to just be dead center (0,5) above the character?
I think I've fixed the zooming/bad positioning issues with 1.2.0 now lol, let me know how it turns out. You should still keep the indicator scale set to 2, I haven't figured out yet how to fix the bad offsets when adjusting that value
New update (1.3.2) makes multiplayer much laggier. Tested with and without the update for starkly different results. v1.3.1 works perfectly without any lag. Also tried with LAN multiplayer connection over ethernet for troubleshooting purposes and still found the lag present. The game will hang on the host's end when walking through doors, ladders showing up in the mines, as well as some other weirder instances I can't quite recall. Time doesn't pass in multiplayer for the other player when the host is in one of these states, but they can still move around and interact with objects. When transitioning to a new area (doors/etc) the other player will also hang to "wait" for the host to catch up. These states take anywhere from 5 up to 15 seconds (and rarely, a bit longer). Staying on v1.3.1 for now
Thanks for the response! You are very welcome. I understand the arduous process of trying to pinpoint an issue and I know that any bit of info can make a difference. Best of luck! Still using v1.3.1 of your mod :) my girlfriend and I love how much less annoying it makes friendship in the game.
Is it possible to have an option that would toggle the icon if you've talked to that NPC during the week, rather than the day? This would be especially helpful when you are starting a new game or adding NPCs and you want to make sure you've met everyone.
Hmm, I could either make it per week (instead of per day), or I could have it only display if you've never talked to that npc before. Which would you prefer?
Hello! When I change the settings to how I want them to be, the next game day they reset to the default settings. I don't get any errors or anything on SAMPI, so I'm not sure what is causing that.
This is the first I've heard of this. When you adjust your settings, do you hit either of the "Save" or "Save and Close" buttons? If you don't click them, the adjustments won't save
Could you try deleting that file? When you restart your game, it'll regenerate the config file. You'll have to put your settings back in, but I'm curious to see if this would fix it. If not, let me know
I have in my config "showIndicatorsDuringCutscenes": false However, indicators are still showing up in cutscenes (presumably where a character was/is before the cutscene initiated).
Do you remember which cutscene this was? I'd like to try to recreate this bug on my end. I'll also modify the code to be more thorough about not showing indicators during cutscenes in the meantime
It's not a huge thing for me so I haven't really looked into it, but if it helps - I have them turned off in cutscenes as well, and I don't have a custom icon, and they're showing in all my cutscenes as well, just fyi
P.S. I can't say enough how helpful this is for festivals!!

I struggle to imagine playing stardew without this gem.

EDIT: Ohhhhhh I see there's a compatibility issue reported in a comment from someone else when it comes to zoom mods like Zoom Level. Please LMK how I can help troubleshoot on that. :) Here's my log: https://smapi.io/log/c386e2ad09e54e7791455de29bb3971d

Thanks.
Works perfectly on SMAPI for Android ☺
