It's not bad! There's a big reason mod authors move away from xnb mods like this one. It's a compatibility risk and a nightmare to support. Most mods nowadays that use Content Patcher will be compatible with future Stardew updates. While xnb mods will die if any form of fishing data that is changed in future updates and if the author doesn't update their mod along with it.
Just a note to everyone--the most valuable part of the fishing experience calculation uses 1/3 * Fish Difficulty to calculate how much exp you get. Therefore, using easier fishing settings can cut that bonus all the way down to 0, making the process of leveling fishing a real grind. I'd recommend using 50% or 75% easier to get fishing up to level 5 or so and then turning off the easier fishing, or else you'll need to catch over 3500 fish to make it to level 10.
The instructions are incorrect, at least for my install. They say to install it here: Stardew Valley/Content But you need to install it here: Stardew Valley/Content/Data I have version 1.3-something
thank you so much! this clears up a lot, I was so confused because everytime I load the game it says easy fishing is not a mod content but the instructions on the page clearly said to put under /Mod
It is fully compatible with Stardew Valley version 1.5! And if you need help installing or using it, feel free to message me :)
*Edit* If you're still experiencing issues/crashes with my mod Fishing Made Easy Suite after installing Easy Fishing, 1) Go to your Content/Data folder in Stardew Valley then delete the Fish.xnb file. 2) Once deleted, go to Steam, right click on Stardew Valley in your Library. Click on Properties, then a new window will open. 3) Click on Local Files (on the left side), then lastly click Verify Integrity of Game Files. This will redownload the newest Fish.xnb file. So if you're planning on using Fishing Made Easy Suite, this will ensure everything works properly :)
If you're experiencing crashing or not catching the flounder and midnight carp, try out my mod that has all the settings this mod offers, plus a lot more! It is fully updated with Stardew Valley version 1.4.
Warning! this mod is not optimized for latest patch, you will not be able to catch Flounder and Midnight Carp since they are not in this file. I suggest finding a mod that not overwrite core files of game.

Also you can choose to use the Skip Fishing Minigame at Stardew Valley Nexus - Mods and community (nexusmods.com) mod which is completely compatible with Fishing Made Easy Suite if you don't want the minigame but want some of the other features!
Thanks and Happy Fishing!!
This mod hasn't been supported since 2018.
I'm the creator of Fishing Made Easy Suite and it is fully supported for the latest releases of Stardew :)

Maybe I'm just stupid but I did what the install instructions said and the fishing is still just stupid.
Has several settings and options available and is fully compatible with the latest version of Stardew Valley.
But you need to install it here: Stardew Valley/Content/Data
I have version 1.3-something
I hope you will update it soon :)

Unfortunately, since I really wanted to give Stardew Valley Expanded a try, I'm trying to find a fishing mod that works with that.
SVE is so expansive that I'm not sure if there are any. :'(
